"This hotel is super convenient! It's just one stop from Kyoto Station on the E line, right next to the subway exit. **Facilities:** The room was very spacious, with a huge bed (over 2 meters!) that easily fit two adults and a child. There's also a public bath, which isn't huge but is very clean. The breakfast was okay, but I'm not a big fan of Japanese-style breakfasts. I mostly stuck to the bread, though the waffles and fried eggs were pretty good. **Service:** Excellent! My kids loved the train toys in the lobby, and the train-themed tableware at breakfast was a nice touch. We could easily walk to the Railway Museum and the aquarium without even crossing a road, and getting to Kyoto Station was a breeze."

"Having stayed in many capsule hotels, this one offered the best experience by far. It has a large public bath and individual shower rooms, as well as a common lounge. Plus, there's a free lactic acid drink served in the afternoon. Most other hotels require guests to check out by 10 AM, but this one has no such strict rule, allowing residents to return to the hotel for a rest during midday, which makes traveling much more convenient and flexible. There's also a supermarket and duty-free shop nearby, which is very handy. The only downside is that the transportation isn't as convenient as I'd hoped. While it's easy to get there by bus, the bus frequency is quite low, and if you take the subway, it's at least a 15-minute walk. I'd definitely choose this chain of capsule hotels again!"

"Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Station: During autumn, they have a display in the lobby showing the fall foliage status of several temples, along with the day's weather. The rooms are decent, and it's not too far from Kyoto Station, but there's no public bath. You can pick up complimentary toiletries by the elevators. Staff greetings are a hit or miss. The biggest downside is breakfast; it's quite poor compared to other Mitsui hotels, with limited choices and average taste."

"Five-star recommendation, the owner of the homestay is a very kind and friendly couple, suitable for friends who travel alone. Facilities: There are two floors in total, with two bathrooms and two toilets. Most of the time, there is no need to queue. There are also many free snacks to eat. The walls are decorated with banknotes, coins from various countries, and hand-painted by guests. Hygiene: The sanitation is cleaned every morning, and the public areas are very clean. Environment: There is a small Japanese courtyard, which is beautiful on rainy days. The room is very warm. The location is not as convenient as Sijo, but it is okay to have buses around. Service: This is important to say that the boss is really nice. I received a hand-painted card with my name on it the next morning. It was really touching to experience this warmth in a foreign country. Every day when I come back from outside, I will hear ”Welcome back” and see two smiling faces. My roommates have always been Chinese, and it is also a different experience to communicate with different friends every day. I left here today and changed my residence and felt a little uncomfortable. Finally, I wish mama and papa good health and happiness."

"Loved this place so much! It's a shame we only booked one night. We didn't meet the host at all; it was a completely self-check-in experience. Towels, toothbrushes, and other amenities were available for self-service purchase. They also offered bike rentals (1000 JPY per bike per day). Additionally, there was a 200 JPY tax per person. At first, I wondered how to pay the tax since we didn't see the host, but then I found the reservation confirmation and a QR code on the table in the room, which allowed us to scan and pay directly! Our room was on the second floor and had its own toilet and sink, while the shower room was shared and located outside. The room was really beautiful, and the kids loved it. I thought a wooden room might have poor soundproofing, but it was surprisingly quiet. We went to bed before 7 PM and didn't hear a sound. In the morning, we also enjoyed some hot white rice porridge, which was fantastic! I hope to have the chance to stay for a few more nights next time!"

"Outstanding stay. The staff was absolutely lovely and extremely attentive. I dropped off my luggage on the first day, and it was placed directly in my room before I even returned to the hotel. "The receptionist was polite and patient. She explained everything and the check in process was so quick that I could just leave my luggage and head towards fushimi inari. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. It had a slight smell of cigarette in the room though, it was not a deal breaker for me. The breakfast buffet was not spectacularly special. It was not as extraordinary as what was commented by another person in the comment section. Just the standard breakfast buffet you could find in Japan and a few extra Kyoto specialties, which I didn’t prefer. To travel to the nearest train station, it needs some distance. I was fine with it as I could stroll in the neighbour that I find it enjoyable. Overall, I like this hotel. And I would definitely stay again if the price still affordable."

"This is a 4-star hotel, very close to Kyoto Station, and they offer a free shuttle bus to and from the station. The shuttle picks up on the left side when you exit the *Karasuma Central Exit* (条口) of Kyoto Station. There isn't much to explore around the hotel itself, and very few restaurants. If you plan on taking the train or eating out, it's best to head to Kyoto Station. Kyoto Station is large and beautiful, a tourist attraction in itself, and even has a big Isetan department store! The breakfast restaurant on the 14th floor is a revolving restaurant with panoramic views of Kyoto. However, the Western set breakfast is quite mediocre. The breakfast restaurant on the first floor offers both Japanese and Western options, but the value for money isn't great. In terms of transportation, besides taking the train from Kyoto Station, you can also catch a bus nearby. It's a bit far from the livelier areas of Sanjo and Shijo, making it suitable for guests who prefer a quiet stay and want to be close to Kyoto Station."

"This hotel is super convenient, right at the Hachijo East Exit of Kintetsu Kyoto Station – just take the escalator down and you're there. There's an indoor shopping street right outside, making it really easy to grab a bite or do some shopping. Plus, a large AEON mall is just a short walk from the station. "I was extremely satisfied with my stay, and the service was excellent. While there was some kind of pump or utility hub just outside the window, making it too noisy to open for fresh air, the floor-to-ceiling windows offered a beautiful view. Moreover, the room became perfectly quiet once the windows were closed. The room itself was very spacious, and I particularly appreciated the design of the large mirror in the vanity area."

GGuest UserThis hotel boasts a quiet location, tucked away on a peaceful lane, yet it's only about a 10-minute walk to the bustling city center and many attractions, which I really appreciated. The staff were friendly and polite, and the room hygiene met standards. The hot spring was uncrowded and clean, both inside and out. The only thing that wasn't ideal was the hotel restaurant. I had dinner there once, the tempura set, and it was all tempura, which was quite greasy. The combination of dishes wasn't very healthy or refined. Other than that, I was very satisfied and would choose to stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto.

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves. When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service. The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point. There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

KKobemuDecided to visit Kyoto with my parents last minute, and the price for this hotel was quite good for a last-minute booking. It's very close to Kyoto Station, just a 5-minute walk. Plus, it's near the airport limousine bus stop, which was super convenient for our departure; we took the bus directly to Osaka Itami Airport and arrived in just 50 minutes. Check-in was done via a machine, which was very easy – just grab your room key and breakfast vouchers. The staff were also on hand to offer assistance. The room size was decent, not cramped for three people, and it was clean and tidy. The breakfast had a great variety, and my parents were very happy with it. We'd definitely stay here again.

GGuest UserThis hotel offers incredible value for money! It's super convenient, just a 5-minute walk from Kyoto JR Station. The streets on both sides of the hotel are lined with small restaurants and pubs, and there's a medium-sized drug store (Don Quijote) at the corner. The room was clean and tidy, and we could see Kyoto Tower right from our window. I especially recommend the hotel's shampoo – it's really good! 😊 The room was spacious enough for two adults and two 28-inch suitcases, with plenty of room to spare. There are USB charging ports by the bed. There's no kettle in the room, so you'll need to bring your own and an adapter. The breakfast on the first floor is a set meal, costing around 60 RMB per person. Highly recommended!

GGuest UserAlthough it was short, I loved my stay here. Had great quality of sleep. Good base for Kyoto, near enough to key locations, but expect a lot of walking unless you use the bus. Nearest station is Kyoto Kawaramachi which is great for day drips just outside central Kyoto and if you are coming from Osaka or Kansai airport - see my tips below. Pros: great bathroom and toiletries, good water pressure and temperature, smart toilet, TV with streaming services, fridge, desk/stool, coat hooks (handy for winter time), semi-full length mirror, luggage rack, various lights to adjust to your preference, very clean, super comfortable firm mattress and pillows, good soundproofing for light sleepers, great air conditioning (room warms up pretty quickly in the winter), you can also open the windows which is nice, felt very safe as a solo female, can ask for more water bottles in reception, lift was never crowded, outlets next to bed, has luggage storage if you need, near the river and traditional streets for scenic strolls, close to bus stop, family mart otw from station for late night snacks. Cons: can hear police cars or cars with loud engines at night sometimes but not frequent, walking from the station with a suitcase was a bit longer than expected, my double room was a bit cramped for opening suitcase (could not open the front or bathroom doors fully to avoid hitting my suitcase) and I am one person (two suitcases would fit but you wouldn't be able to walk around the bed properly). Tips: If you are coming from Kansai airport (KIX), I recommend you take the airport limousine to Namba (bought a return ticket since it is cheaper). It drops you outside JR Namba station, you can go inside to get to the metro station, follow signs for the red Midosuji Line. Board the train to Umeda. Stay inside the station and follow signs for Osaka-Umeda or the brown Hankyu-Kyoto line. This line goes directly to Kyoto Kawaramachi station. When stations, always look for the lift signs if you have luggages. I think I took the lift closest to Exit 4, and it brings you up to a department store. You kinda have to walk through and get out. If you walk out the front entrance, there are a few steps, but if you go to the side doors, it has a slope to avoid carrying suitcases. It's a straight walk from the station. Unless you are doing day trips, Kyoto city buses are a lot better mode of transport in my opinion.

Hygiene: The hygiene is excellent. Environment: The surrounding area is very quiet, and there are convenience stores not too far away. GGuest UserThe hotel is quite a long walk from Kyoto Station; it took us about 20+ minutes on foot to get there. You could take the bus, but it doesn't really save much time. There's a good ramen shop right next to the hotel that even gave our child a toy. The room isn't huge, but there's enough space for luggage. The lobby downstairs offers free coffee, which I enjoyed every morning.

One thing that really stood out was the bathroom — the bathtub was much larger than what you usually get in Japan. I’m a tall person, and I could actually sit down and lie back comfortably, which is rare. Most hotel baths feel very small, but this one felt closer to around 1.4m in length, which made having a bath genuinely enjoyable. The bed was comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job — the bed was made every day with fresh sheets. Wi-Fi was also very fast, which was a big plus. Amenities were decent, and you can pick up extra items if you need them. Check-in is a bit late at 3pm, which I didn’t love, but that’s balanced out by an 11am checkout. Having that extra time in the morning made it feel worth it overall. I did have a couple of negatives. The strangest one was finding an old sock behind the TV when I arrived. It was very obvious and not hidden, so I’m not sure how it was missed during cleaning. It was a bit gross, but I just left it. Another downside was the mini fridge — it’s more like a cooler than a real fridge. It keeps drinks from getting warm, but they don’t get properly cold. In summer, this really wouldn’t be good enough. Replacing it with a proper mini fridge would be a big upgrade. The other major issue was the lift. It is painfully slow, and there’s only one lift for the upper floors. On checkout day, I left my room about 10 minutes before checkout time, and I almost didn’t make it downstairs in time because of how slow it was. That part was honestly pretty ridiculous. Location-wise, this hotel is excellent. It’s very easy to get to from Kyoto Station — just head south and you’re there in about 4–5 minutes. It’s also very convenient when leaving Kyoto by train. A tip for using the subway: instead of going back to Kyoto Station, walk right from the hotel to Shijō Station. It’s on the same subway line, you’ll get on before Kyoto Station, and the train is empty — so you’re almost guaranteed a seat and can ride comfortably to your destinations. For food and shopping, there’s a shopping mall just across the road toward the station with a Don Quijote, McDonald’s, and other options. The hotel is also right next to a Coco Ichibanya curry house, which is fantastic and open late. Overall, despite a few odd issues, this was a solid stay with a great location, good comfort, and very easy access to transport. I’d happily consider staying here again.
