The Three Horseshoes Hotel

My friend and I stopped here on our way to Scotland .We had a lovely room a really good meal that night in the hotel restaurant and a good breakfast was included the next morning. even for a vegan like myself. All the staff were really friendly and helpful we had a very good nights sleep on very comfortable beds and set of fully refreshed the next morning.

Enjoyed a very good meal in the restaurant. Well cooked and presented and delicious tasting food - main courses -belly pork, pan seared coley with lovely sauces etc and nice desserts too. Service was friendly and attentive. For a busy bank holiday weekend it didn't feel rushed but neither did we have to wait long for our food.

Came for an evening meal as staying on nearby campsite , didn’t book but as it was a Monday evening it wasn’t that busy. Good service, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Ordered the sea bass which was lovely, my partner had the fish and chips which he also enjoyed very much. Would definitely recommend, not the cheapest but worth it.

Called into this pub/hotel on our way home from Durham as they had outside seating and it was a glorious day. Food was excellent and what a lovely venue inside, also has a beer gardens and rooms, a little gem! Thinking of staying here overnight in the future.

Excellent place to stay in this beautiful part of Teesdale. We were visiting Barney to see an act at the nearby Witham (2 mins walk away) which incidentally is a fabulous local asset. The Three Horseshoes didn’t disappoint. Warm, clean and very comfortable room. We had a great evening meal before the show and returned for a nightcap in the friendly and accommodating restaurant/bar. The breakfast didn’t disappoint - lots to choose from and the poached eggs/avocado on toast were the best I’ve ever had. A big shout out to all the staff we encountered - very friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to returning soon.

It's a shame that I can't select 0 stars. On Tuesday 9th April, I had a meal with my family. To say that the customer service was bad is a huge understatement. The food took around 45 minutes to come after we ordered. When we asked, we were told that it was because they had run out of what we ordered so they had to make some from scratch. But why didn't they tell us that at the point of ordering? We should have been given the choice of waiting or re-ordering. When the food finally arrived, one dish was so overcooked, it was hard and dry. More like something you you use to build a house with. It should never have left the kitchen. An alternative was suggested but as we had already waited nearly an hour, and of course, everyone was by this point very hungry, this was too little, too late. There was no apology, just excuses. The manager refused to sit down at our table to discuss it. Instead, she insisted that my mum went to the reception desk. I can only assume that it was so there were not any witnesses. However, the whole restaurant could hear the manager shouting at my mum and my young son had to witness his granny being verbally abused. Her attitude was shocking: very aggressive and loud. A simple, honest apology at the start would have gone a long way. We will never go back. The manager clearly needs training in the basics of hospitality, or better yet, sacking. After reading the other reviews, it sounds like the same manager.

Really enjoyed an excellent overnight stay at The Three Horseshoes. Very friendly and helpful staff throughout, the room was spacious, comfortable, and very nicely decorated, Well equipped, the bed was comfortable, the shower powerful, and the breakfast superb. The free car park was easy enough to find with the directions sent by the hotel, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended.

Staying in Barnard Castle for a couple of days and called for a drink this lunchtime. Very happy with the clean smart venue, the menu also looked good so decided on lunch. I had Chicken Supreme and husband had Gammon. Both were delicious and nicely presented, not normal pub food, much better. Good ale and good staff too. Thanku
