Beach Hotels in Phuket

This hotel is close to the airport. I was arriving late and wanted something nearby, so I was torn between the JW Marriott and Pullman. Initially, I planned to stay just one night as a transit, but then decided against Racha due to the rainy season and rough seas, and just booked two nights at the Renaissance instead! It completely exceeded my expectations. Service! The Renaissance's service is truly exceptional! From check-in, the staff were incredibly friendly and proactive. Their well-trained, yet familiar and warm smiles and greetings made us feel very comfortable. The room had handwritten mirror art, a handwritten welcome letter, and we even received small handwritten gifts at the restaurant. Especially by the pool, a staff member literally ran over to set up our sun loungers, immediately brought cold drinks, and handed us towels – so enthusiastic and attentive! [Thumbs up][Thumbs up] Room The room was very, very spacious. We booked a standard room, and it comfortably accommodated two adults and two children. There was a sofa that could be converted into a bed, and the bathroom was also large. The room even had a balcony. It was very quiet for sleeping, with no airplane noise at all. The soundproofing was excellent, and we slept wonderfully. Dining The breakfast was abundant! The fried rice with chickpea curry was so delicious, I couldn't stop eating it. For dinner, there's a famous Thai restaurant with a great ambiance, and the mango sticky rice was tasty. Overall, it wasn't crowded at all – it offered that perfectly unhurried, comfortable, and suitable vacation vibe! It's ideal for those who dislike crowds and prefer a pure, quiet, and relaxing hotel-centric holiday!

I booked a one-bedroom villa, and after visiting and comparing several units, I truly believe Villa #68 is the absolute best among the one-bedroom options! The layout and size are optimal! The villa boasts a generous 550 sqm, offering huge space and a comfortable layout. It comes with a private pool that directly connects to the beach, making both privacy and the views impeccable. The amenities are also comprehensive: a sauna, indoor and outdoor dual showers, and an outdoor bathtub, instantly delivering a complete resort feel and comfort. The hotel itself has a very natural, ecological island vibe. We saw lizards several times on the villa rooftop and by the pool. At first, it was a bit scary, but they are actually very docile and completely non-aggressive – a rather unique wilderness experience. Breakfast was just okay, nothing special. The service was excellent throughout; all staff members were enthusiastic, friendly, meticulous, and attentive. A special shout-out to Liam, who provided dedicated service from start to finish, always responsive, patiently helping us arrange all our needs with professionalism and warmth! However, there are a few objective points that deduct from the overall score: Firstly, the hotel's landscaping and gardening are rather ordinary compared to other resorts in the same category. Most of the public areas are sandy, with sparse and poorly maintained plants, making them generally not photo-worthy. Secondly, the in-room facilities are a bit dated, especially the bathroom. The quality of the fixtures and sanitary ware like the toilet and showerhead feels quite common, which doesn't quite match the Luxury Collection brand positioning. Getting to the island involves a bit of a journey, from the airport to the pier and then a speedboat transfer, but it feels worth it upon arrival. If you're looking for an extra-large private villa, private pool, direct beach access, and excellent service, this place is still highly recommended. However, if you are sensitive to the public area landscaping and the newness of indoor hardware, you might want to do a bit more research.

The hotel indeed has very few Chinese guests, but they were still quite friendly towards us. I'm not sure if it was because they initially messed up my name, or for some other reason, but they upgraded us from a family room to a suite, which was large and beautiful. We were very satisfied with our stay, and there was an ocean view right outside the window. The hotel environment is nice, but the breakfast is just average. It's not too far or too close to Jungceylon and the seafood market, about a 20-minute walk, but taxis are quite expensive. The only downside is that it's too noisy at night; you can hear all the sounds from the road and the bars, and the soundproofing is a bit poor.

We were upgraded to an executive suite, and the room was larger than expected, with a living room and a separate bedroom. We stayed in Building 6, which was close to the elevator but surprisingly quiet. Both balconies faced the pool. The first pool has a 0.9m kids' pool and a 2.5m deep-water pool. The second pool is 1.4m deep and has a bar. The third is a kids' slide pool. There's a small 7-Eleven directly across from the front entrance. If you go out the back entrance and turn left, there's a larger 7-Eleven about a 5-minute walk away. The beach is also right outside the back entrance. The hotel's overall service is excellent. Someone cleans daily, whether it's the pools, rooms, or trimming the shrubs. The staff always greet you proactively. Remember to go to breakfast early; after 9 AM, you might have to queue. Breakfast is available indoors (air-conditioned and cool) or outdoors by the pool, where you might occasionally see a cat wander by. Most importantly, one of the front desk staff speaks Chinese, which made communication very easy. I regret not asking for her name; I just remember she was slim, had a slicked-back hairstyle, and was beautiful. While there are other bars or noisy areas around the hotel, this is limited to the outdoors. Once you're back in your room with the doors and windows closed, it doesn't affect your sleep at all. Of course, our window faced the pool side, so I'm not sure what it's like for rooms facing the street. There are three designated smoking areas within the hotel: the first is outside the main entrance to the right, the second is behind the bar at the second pool, and the third is to the left of the first and second pools, behind the small hut where you get towels.

Excellent hotel! My child attended many workshops and activities. The staff are caring and attentive, huge thanks to them. There are plenty of sun loungers by the pool, always a spot to relax, and an excellent bar with delicious cocktails. The housekeeping is top-notch; our room was cleaned twice a day and the bed was made. The hotel has a very convenient app with all the information you need, and you can even order extra necessities to your room. I ordered an additional pillow and there were several different types to choose from. The breakfasts are excellent, and on certain days, there are seafood dinners. The buffet includes oysters, crab, shrimp, and hot dishes, all for 1250 baht. We will definitely be back. This is one of the best hotels for our vacation ❤️

This isn't our first time at the hotel, but this stay truly surprised us with the improved service, cleanliness, and atmosphere—so much has changed! The woman who cleaned our room was an absolute gem 👏🏻. We always choose this hotel for its great location; everything is close by. The staff here are wonderful ❤️

We booked a pool-view room, and it was great. The layout and design were very good. Although it's not huge at just over 40 square meters, it was quite comfortable for two adults and one child. The front desk and concierge staff were all very polite and had warm smiles. The breakfast spread was extensive and served until 11 am, which really added to the holiday vibe. There weren't many Chinese guests. My husband commented that at breakfast, you could see people of different skin tones, confirming that the hotel was indeed full of international guests. To be honest, the pool isn't huge, but it was perfectly adequate for the kids to play in for two days. There's also a small sandpit next to the pool. The biggest surprise was the kids' club! It even had a ball pit and tons of toys. Our child's favorite place each day wasn't the pool, but the kids' club. The staff there were very responsible; they'd confirm with parents whether each child was allowed to leave on their own when entering, and required a sign-in and sign-out every time, which made us feel very secure. Free bicycles were also provided, so you could cycle to 7-Eleven for supplies. Of course, there were some downsides. The beach waves were indeed quite strong, so you could only splash around by the shore. It's also true that it's far from town; 7-Eleven isn't within walking distance. To get around, you either need a taxi or a bicycle. There are also wild massage parlors next to the hotel beach offering massages for 500 baht an hour, as well as two Thai restaurants. They're more expensive than outside but cheaper than the hotel, and the food was decent.

I read a lot of reviews before coming, both good and bad, but my actual stay was great. I'd give it an excellent rating – it's nowhere near as bad as some people say. It's very clean, and the environment has a strong resort feel. Just book one of the newly renovated rooms with 'Deluxe' in the name. The air conditioning is strong, and housekeeping is very thorough. Tam and PhuPha, the housekeeping staff, were also very nice. I won't say much more, but if the room rate were under 700, I would strongly recommend it. The beach is just a 1-minute walk out the back door, and you can see the sea from the hotel. If I were to recommend, first would be the Deluxe Sea View rooms in Building A, and then the Deluxe Garden View rooms on the 6th floor of Building G. You can decide for yourselves.

Spectacular views of the sea from the rooms make this resort a winner for feelings of peace and solitude. My room included a ceiling fan and a separate rain shower next to the bath tub. A massive free breakfast buffet starts the day for most guests, with changing options on a daily basis. Before breakfast I walked down the steep driveway to the private beach to swim either in the sea or the small pool next to it. At 7 am there is nobody around. One morning I took out a kayak (one hour free) which had stunning panoramic views. There are two swimming pools by the resort’s main building and both are delightful for swimming and relaxing. Nothing much to do in the evening and the TV channel selection could be expanded with movie channels (e.g., HBO, Cinemax), educational channels like Discovery Asia, and nature channels like BBC Earth and Love Nature. I partook in a 90 minute herbal pack massage which was a bit pricy but very professional. Both lunch and dinner menus have sufficient variety of dishes and food quality was good. Staff were always helpful. In summary, Supalai Scenic Bay Resort is a wonderfully serene experience at a very reasonable room price.          

Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Sunset Beach Resort. The facilities are a bit dated, but they are well maintained, which I truly appreciate. You can tell the resort takes good care of what it has. The location is generally fine, though the beach directly in front of the resort isn’t the best. Patong Beach is about a 300+ meter walk away, which is manageable, just something to note for guests who expect a beachfront swimming spot. The only part that slightly affected our experience was the shuttle service — not a big issue, but a memorable one. On 1 February, around 5:30 PM, we informed the front desk that we needed the 6:30 PM shuttle to Bangla Street. We even confirmed it twice and were told to sit and wait, as the staff would notify us when the shuttle arrived. We made sure they knew exactly where we were waiting. By 7:00 PM, after no update, we went back to the front desk only to be told that the shuttle had already left. The staff apologized and admitted she had overlooked us, and arranged the next shuttle. Nothing serious — just an unexpected extra 30 minutes of “resort relaxation time” we hadn’t planned for. 😊 Still, aside from this hiccup, the stay was comfortable, and with a bit more attention to shuttle coordination, the experience would be even better.
