Stayed 2 nights. The ryokan experience starts with being met in the car park, bags whisked away, shoes off at the entrance and slippers provided. Then an orientation with a very nice Vietnamese lady, one of the few members of staff who spoke English. We were given a detailed explanation of how to use the two different onsen, and lots of other info that you really need, because this is an experience like no other. The rooms are beautiful ( ours looked onto the stream), the (long and many) corridors are decorated with beautiful art and ikebana, and there are lots of drinks dispensers everywhere - the corn soup is delicious. The food was some of the finest we had anywhere during our 4 weeks travelling in Japan (including a couple of Michelin- starred restaurants), presented exquisitely, and wonderfully flavoured - a true feast over several courses and a couple of hours. Breakfast buffet equally memorable. We only went here to see the Blakiston's Fish owl, so the whole experience was a wonderful surprise - if you've seen the Studio Gibli film ”Spirited Away” you will get a sense of what it was like. And we were the only westerners here, which was great, and only added to the sense of being on a different world. On that note, if you're an uptight westerner who doesn't like getting naked in front of strangers, you might struggle here - there are no showers or washing facilities in the rooms ( apart from a basin), only those in the onsen themselves. I don't think we would have chosen to go if we had understood this beforehand, but I'm SO glad we did go.

The lobby felt a bit narrow, but the room was more visible from Kushiro port and I felt good. Breakfast was delicious with rice, free rice, and all. ８ months, but I was able to disinfect my fingers at the entrance, get my gloves, and eat with peace of mind. I couldn't slow down because it was early in the morning, but I want to stay again. It was better if the bath was on the top floor.

I stayed at this hotel because it had many reviews as a hotel with delicious oyster dishes. As the word of mouth says, there are many types of oyster dishes, and I was very satisfied. However, the only disappointing thing was that the bath started at 17:00, and before and after that, it was practically impossible to use the bath attached to the Western-style room. I wanted to freshen up before dinner, but the hot water in the guest room was extremely thin, and I couldn't even use it as a shower. Probably, the boiler capacity was full just by filling the bathhouse with hot water, and the airflow from the guest room was extremely poor, but I wondered how it would be as a customer business.

The A-Building twin was 26 ㎡ and was spacious and clean, and the bed was about a semi-double width and had a wide bus. The hot springs are hot and a little oily and lukewarm, and there are many types such as sauna, cold bath, bubble bath, and sleeping bath, but there is no open-air bath. My hair was squeaking because it was body soap and conditioner in shampoo. There are no skin care supplies or cleansing in the changing room, so you need to bring it with you. Even though it was Saturday as an intermediate point for sightseeing in Abashiri and Shiretoko, I stayed cheaply without meals and the cospa was the best.

Owed this feedback for too long. We actually stayed in Oct2019. Took a bus from Mashu Station and arrived early before check-in time. Gentleman at reception was so kind to let us into our room on 2nd floor. No lifts and we had 4 luggages for 2 females. Appreciate so much for sending them to the room. Apologies for the trouble but we were spending 1mth in Hokkaido. We stayed 3nights and were very satisfied with room. It's kept to the basic and towels were thin but it's fine as room was very clean and tidy. Rate is unbeatable and stay was pleasant throughout. Thank you for the kind hospitality. For those who don't drive, bus-stop is walking distance to/from Mashu Station.

This inn opened in August 2018 with anticipation of demand for foreigners visiting Rausu for overseas unexplored tours. On some site, it was introduced as the only inn in Rausu that can speak English. Perhaps because of that, Booking.com had more word of mouth information than Rakuten Travel and Jalan. By the way, Sarai means ”inn” in Persian. It is said that the inn run by the West travel trip is only this Shiretoko Sarai, but it is a wonderful inn that is a waste. The price is reasonable and the room is not so large, but there is enough space to spread one large suitcase. The room was separated into Ａ building and Ｂ building, and we stayed in Ａ building with reception. After finishing the reception at the reception on the １ floor, take off your shoes and go up to the guest room on the second floor. There is no elevator. The floor of the room was flooring and had disposable slippers, but it was clean enough with barefoot and clean enough. Amenities are all available, but if you need room clothes, you need to request and borrow them at the reception. There is only a parking space for ５ cars in front of the building, and if it is full, you will use the ２ parking lot located a little far away (about 100 ｍ). It is recommended because it is sufficient in quantity and affordable in terms of price. By the way, guests can serve draft beer (small) or a soft drink if they show their JAF membership card.
