I was hesitant due to the bad reviews on here but what an amazing night we had. We booked the suite with dinner & breakfast and everything was stunning! Couldn’t fault it at all! I’m pregnant so on arrival I was given a mock tail♥️ Please do not let the bad reviews put you off - remember you cannot please everyone. Will definitely be returning x

We were given this as a Christmas present and we were both excited to have a night out without the kids. We were both impressed when we turned up and then when we got to the bar it all went wrong. They were confused with the booking as the restaurant wasn’t open until 5:30. (I had booked this back in January so plenty of time for them to contact me to change this) We were happy to wait until it was open and sat by the bar. Then they started bring our food out and it felt really awkward as no one else was eating there. We asked to move to the restaurant and was told they’d look into it but never happened. The lady serving us was rude and didn’t seem to care. If it wasn’t for the nice bar man asking if I was alright I would have left crying.

We stayed here for the night after my mother’s wedding & I honestly cannot fault the place! The staff were amazing and so attentive and friendly and were always so happy to help with whatever was needed. We had a meal the night before in the English restaurant and the food was brilliant, everyone loved theirs & the food on the day of the wedding was again brilliant! The room was a good size and perfect for two people and the bed was super comfy! Will definitely be coming back again!

The room (suite 14) was spotlessly clean and every wall and ceiling surface covered in padding and quilting. All of which looked different. The wet room was enormous at around 4m square. And the copper slipper bath was definitely a new experience. There was only one bottle of water, and no coffee maker - though we weren't charged for coffee in the bar. The room felt soft, smooth and was very dark: romantic with a definite sexy vibe. And there was a big, long black sofa. But, overall, the hotel didn't feel as quirky as the website and its photographs suggests. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had gone for the May Ball. There were around 130 people there - mostly aged 30 to 50 - sat at circular tables; many in parties. The Thai buffet was excellent. The band was very average, and the "entertainment" a real disappointment. A single drag artist followed by two girls dressed as Brazilian samba dancers. All of which lasted perhaps 10 minutes, done twice. The dance floor was rather small, but many people seemed to leave early. The room only was £466 for one night (breakfast extra) and a pair of Ball tickets £159. Cocktails were £15 each and the less expensive wines weren't available. We made this a very happy night but this hotel didn't seem value for money.

Recently stayed at this hotel and my husband and I had a great time. We were warmly welcomed and given a glass of champagne. We were given suite 20 which was stunning and had tea and coffee facilities. The atmosphere was fantastic same as the staff, food and drinks. Thank you ☺️

My check in at reception was lovely. However, I found the masseuse extremely rude. She collected me from outside the room, her body language and expression were rude and moody. She snatched the sheet out of my hand and shoved it in her drawer without looking at it. I hadn't highlighted any problems so there was nothing to discuss, but she made me feel like me being there was an inconvenience to her. The massage itself was not what I hoped. I felt like it lacked any effort. She didn't ask if the pressure was ok or if I was comfortable etc. I also thought it was strange that there was no music in the room to help with relaxation and mask any noise outside. It was a quiet day, however, towards the end of the massage a group of people had arrived and were very noisy all of which I could here. I had high hopes of my experience at the Crazy Bear as I have really enjoyed visiting the venue in the past. I was looking forward to feeling very relaxed, but unfortunately this was not the case, and I will not be booking or recommending a massage at the Crazy Bear in the future.

It is quirky for sure. Pleasant staff and a nice bar. As other have said the room was funky but far from functional. No side lamps, coffee machine or water. The wet room was exactly that. A swimming pool effect after a shower which would t drain away. We ate Thai - can't complain v nice. It would have scored higher - but the price asked gives the lower score.

Shocking. They should be embarrassed to sell the room and have the prices they do here. Myself and my friend booked this as a Christmas present for our partners and paid £335 each on a deal that was supposed to be around £500 as it was sold as a deluxe room. When we arrived and checked in at the reception on a double decker bus the staff were lovely and it all felt great. Soon we started to realise it was not what we was expecting. It was no way as theatrical as the website made it look, we were told if we wanted theatrical we should have booked the Thai restaurant rather than the English. I explained that when i called to book in the dates and was asked which restaurant i played it safe for my husband and booked the English as i had not been before and didn't realise the English was a small room of about 10 tables that looked like an old Indian restaurant (sorry to all the beautiful lavish Indian restaurants out there) that had not been upgraded for 30 years and there was nothing Quirky about it at all. We went into the extremely small bar for a drink before the meal to find out that the tables had been reserved which we later found out to be for locals and not people staying at the hotel so you had to sit outside. We were put in room 4 and how this can be described as deluxe i have no idea. The room was so small you could not get down one side of the bed as the curtains took that space and you only had the smallest amount of space at the end of the bed where the door was. We wrongly assumed we would be in one of the rooms in the picture like one with a bath for the deal we had got. The 4 of us decided to try and enjoy our night and enjoy some cocktails and wine throughout the evening to later find out most drinks were around £20 each so our bill for just drinks was £700. We asked if there was any entertainment or music on and s told that the low back ground music in the small bar was the best they had. The morning after we went to breakfast to pay for something hot as it was only continental that came with the room and after waiting 45 minutes we walked out and just told them to cancel it and we left. Save your money and go somewhere else as this was an embarrassment. I run a business and paid for this for 2 clients off ours last year which cost £500 for the one night for each room and i feel so embarrassed i believed the pictures and didn't read the reviews. I have certainly learned my lesson.

Overall service and experience wasn’t up to expected standards. The room rate and cocktails were overpriced, the whole place had an odd, eerie atmosphere. Breakfast wasn’t included, the night staff didn’t action disturbances throughout the night despite several calls to reception. Very disappointing!
