Our second visit to this excellent B&B gave us another very pleasant 3 night stay. Situated no more than an 5-10 minute drive to Chester centre, it has great road links. Hoole village a short walk has a few shops, couple of pubs and a fabulous Italian restaurant. The rooms are beautifully decorated with high spec furniture. The breakfast is as good as any 5* hotel, the staff are very attentive. My wife had an individual veggie cooked breakfast specially made each day. Ray the owner is always around if you need anything and always likes to chat. Would definitely recommend.

Room smelt damp and musty. Broken bed. Toilet was constantly over-flowing. Rotten skirting board. Faulty shower isolation switch. Dirty carpets. Tape on ceiling. Bedroom door was coming off the hinges

Loved staying at Chester House, and it felt very much like home for our four night stay. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious, and served in such a lovely dining area. Lizzie and Helen were way beyond helpful, printing out schedules and fielding phone calls for us, as we were naive enough to travel without cell phone or tablet. Aside from Chester itself, there is a great little street with pubs and shopping just two blocks away. It reminded us of Coronation Street. The Tuesday night 2-4-1 pizza at the pub there is well worth the trip!

This was an amazing find and a great place to stay for my partner and I visiting the area for the first time. The staff were incredibly friendly and accomodating, the breakfast was exceptional, and the room was super cozy with lovely homely touches to it. We cannot recommend this place more!

We stayed during the bank holiday weekend at the end of May. There were a few things we loved: - The breakfast staff are super friendly and then we found out that they are also the housekeeping staff. - The chef was super accommodating with my diet restrictions and served us amazing food. - Our room was really well decorated and very clean. - There was a minibar and microwave in the room, which was really convenient. - The bed was super comfy. - My husband needed a place to finish some work after we checked out, and they let us stay in the lounge for a couple of hours. Unfortunately they were not just flowers: - The shower emitted an unpleasant sewage odor. We notified the hotel, and a gentleman, who we presumed to be the owner, informed us that the smell was due to road maintenance being conducted on a nearby back road. However, upon inspecting the area, we did not observe any ongoing work. He apologized and mentioned that he would instruct the cleaning staff to address the issue by draining the shower. Unfortunately, he did not return to check on the situation or inquire about our well-being. We understand that the hotel was at full capacity, and we hope that this was the reason why we were not offered an alternative room. The odor was truly unpleasant, making it quite challenging to use the bathroom and shower. Even brushing our teeth became an unpleasant experience. I could not shake the feeling that I was not entirely clean even after taking a shower. - The window in front of the bed lacked blackout curtains. As a result, we were awakened around 4:00 AM by the sunlight streaming into the room. We had to resort to placing pillows over our heads in order to block out the light and return to sleep. - The electric showers generated a significant amount of noise. We were frequently woken up by the loud sound of our neighbors using their showers. - It was challenging to locate a staff member at the reception desk when we required assistance. We had to contact them by telephone. - The availability of parking spaces is quite limited. Despite our prior request for a parking space and the assurance that there would be ample space, we encountered a situation where our car had to remain on the road for one night.

Lovely stay. Comfortable, convenient, spacious, well kept. Friendly front desk / check-in service. Good location a 15 min walk from rail station. Though located outside the city center, there are quite a number or restaurants and pubs within 5 minutes walk.

Lucky enough to be given a ‘free upgrade’ apparently. The room was lovely, large & spacious with a great bathroom. Small toiletries provided which is a nice touch. Rooms are very warm but there’s a good fan provided which kept us cool. Our room was at the front so sleep was slightly disturbed by road noise. Breakfast on the 1st day was good. However on the 2nd day it was a different story. Went down at 8:30 to be told there wasn’t any tables (another family of 3 had the same problem) so told to come back in about 5 mins. When we did, there were about 4 empty tables (strange)Went to get some fruit & yoghurt but there was hardly any fruit left, maybe 2 tablespoons & only strawberry or passion fruit yoghurt, neither of which I like (only 1 of each left too). Asked the lady who runs breakfast if there was anymore but told no. Husband & I both wanted a cooked breakfast (you’re given a choice of scrambled or fried eggs when you first come in) There was only 4 sausages & 2 rashers of bacon left. I asked if there was anymore bacon to be again told no. There was a problem with the coffee machine & the milk was sour so couldn’t use that either. There were 2 ladies who came in after us who also had no hot offering & were told they should have been down sooner. As breakfast is served 8-9 there should be enough food to cater for everyone. If the hotel is full, how is everyone supposed to get in & eat within the hour if there aren’t enough tables. Spoke to the lady on reception just to be told ‘I can only apologise’, no offer of a small refund etc. Due to breakfast being a big part of a B&B, we were very disappointed & will not return.
