Hilton Los Angeles-Culver City, CA

We stayed for two nights when we landed in LA which was a quick stay before our 2 week road trip around California with my family. I travel many times a year all over the world for work and try to combine these works trips sometimes for the kids too. So the Hilton Culver City was suppose to be a quick stay in LA before heading off! We found the staff at the Hilton absolutely amazing from the minute we arrived. It was a hot afternoon and she immediately handed us cold water bottles while checking in, so many hotels don’t even give you complementary water, but they did. The hotel is modern, clean and really well located, we were really lucky to have met the Manager Mo while checking in who proved to us time and time again what an outstanding manager he is. He even called our room to make sure our stay was going well and that was his day off. He left such a big impression on us that we cut our road trip a few days short and headed back to Hilton Culver City. Our second stay lasted 4 days and it was truly a great time. Our room was AMAZING, and once again Moe the manager was just so hospitable. He called in, really cared about what we wanted to see In LA, gave us good recommendations and it was just the best time. I have stayed in LA many times and stayed in the heart of Beverly Hills in 5 star hotels and they didn’t compare to our time at Hilton Culver City. Location was close to everything, but the staff and Mo the manager really make this hotel better than any 5 star I’ve stayed at. Don’t bother looking any further this is the place to stay. We are already planning our next trip back.

The hotel: Very modern style where the kitchen dining area is where the staff will hang out and check you in with their laptops. There’s “manager’s hours” where they give free sake shots (which was served in wine glasses) and it was delicious. The complimentary breakfast is simple and just right with light pastries, coffee, tea, toast, jam, butter, yogurt, oatmeal, and fruit. The hotel grounds is inviting where you want to hang out in the nice outdoor lounge furniture and and night the lanterns/lighting and fireplace sets a nice mood. I thought it may be questionably loud but in your room you truly can’t hear anyone outside which is nice. The room: Smart set up and use of space. It gives me an idea of how to create a guest house. The room is managed by a tablet screen by the front door. It’s used to manage the blinds, windows, lighting, etc. The glass walls in the bathroom/shower is brilliant. I can watch TV and shower at the same time. The water pressure is nice and the Co.Bigelow brand body soap, shampoo, and conditioner were ssoooo soothing. My skin felt silky afterwards. The location: Right smack in Culver City near downtown Culver City, the restaurants, and theater, etc. There are shops across the street from the hotel as well as a fro yo place! It served to a wonderful place to hang out while we reunited with friends, taking our time eating the breakfast and enjoying the sake in the outside courtyard (all included in the price of stay!) Definitely coming back.

Rodeway Inn Near Venice Beach

Venice Beach Culver City|3.4km from city centre
As a superhost for Airbnb I feel compelled to write something about my recent experience at the Rodeway Inn. Firstly, it’s painted with fairly new bright paint. I love the vibe from the outside, reminded me of the kind of place often used in Hollywood movies where detectives go to question witnesses. I probably wouldn’t have bothered to write this review if I had paid $40 for a night, but with tax it cost me $140. So here we go. We arrived at the Rodeway Inn at about 9:00 PM. The young man at the check-in counter was very polite and checked us in with a smile. However, the first clue this hotel was a bad idea was that he was behind a thick glass screen, the kind some high security banks now instal for a good reason. Next I moved my car from temporary parking to the back of the hotel as directed. But the on-site hotel parking was inadequate. So I drove down the adjacent residential side street and there were signs literally every 15-20ft along the road displaying “tow away residence only parking” signs. I drove back to the front desk to ask where to park. It was at that point that a police cruiser parked directly behind me and asked me why I was there. When I walked towards their vehicle to answer, they ordered me to stand back. They continued to question me and eventually let me go. I’m pretty sure that the police have this placed staked-out. Second ominous sign we were in the wrong place. Next we go to our room, number 214, directly above the check-in office. It was reached by walking next to an adjacent darkened alley that could easily have been used in a Hollywood horror movie, you know the kind where someone brings their victims to get sliced-up. We continue to climb the stairs trying to avoid touching the hand rails coated in 20 layers of old chipped paint. As we opened the door to the room we found it to be dismal. First impression was that the room decor was extremely dated, maybe early 70s era furniture. The front door was dented and had exposed screw holes. Two king sized beds with the original factory plastic bags covering the foundations were crammed into the area where one could fit best. The stained carpeted floors seemed to be poorly vacuumed with white powder visible in some places and one worn patch was held together with duct tape. The furniture and sink surfaces were adequately clean. Wallpaper was peeling in one place. Black mold was clearly visible around the bathtub seal, the shower head was covered in various colorful molds, and the toilet had a heavily rusted exposed stud holding it down. All that being said, I found my bed was actually quite comfortable, but we did find a small blood stain on one of the sheets. Light snacks were provided in the check-in room in the morning that consisted of toast, fake orange juice and coffee. One last comment. They made sure we returned the plastic room access cards, I’m pretty sure they intended to re-use them.

Four Points by Sheraton Los Angeles Westside
4.1/5118 Reviews
This was our first visit to the hotel since before the Pandemic and, having stayed there many times previously we were welcomed back as if we were family! So great to see Sergio still at the bar providing his excellent service as always. He really is the best bar tender we've ever met, and long may he stay at the hotel! Juan and his colleagues at breakfast were incredible! The hotel was fully booked on some days, but the breakfast team were like a well-oiled machine making sure that everyone was looked after, and that buffet items were constantly being replaced. We hope to be back in LA before long, and the Four Points will always be our first choice of hotels. Thanks to everyone who looked after us over 9 nights.
Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Westside

I stayed here for 3 nights during WeHo pride weekend. It is within 10 miles from both downtown and WeHo. Even closer to the airport. The front desk is very kind and let me check in when I arrived before 2pm. The room was well decorated and met all my needs. Though there is highway nearby, I still slept well in general. There is paid breakfast buffet at the bistro and quite convenient. Parking is $25 per day and one just uses room card to go in and out. Overall I am very satisfied with my stay, better than last time when I stayed at a similar Marriott hotel in North Hollywood. Will definitely go back to this hotel.

Great place if you want to stay away from the noise and bustle of LA. I like the fact that it wasn't too far from the airport if you want to Uber or Lyft there. Ample parking and it's free. The room was very spacious, had a microwave and fridge. There is an outdoor swimming pool but too cold and rainy during my stay. Staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is a bit scant, but I definitely would stay there again.

Sunburst Spa & Suites Motel
3.6/53 Reviews
The Sunburst is a fine hotel for the budget-conscious traveler (like myself, who stayed for one night in early September 2019). It is well maintained, clean, the rooms are surprisingly large, everything worked well (TV, WWW, refrig, microwave), and the staff is accommodating. My visit was hassle-free.. The location is also very good for access to the 405 freeway. The negative reviews posted by others appear to be from individuals paid to make those commentaries, as not a single issue raised in the complaints was observed by me. I highly recommend this property to those seeking a good, clean room at a very low price.
