The hotel and it's staff were as expected if not better. Clean, tidy and well presented. Polite and welcoming staff.... and I appreciate that, thank you. The restaurant on the other hand was poor. Our evening meal was pretty good, the staff, although pleasant, were obviously very keen to make sure they were out on-time making the atmosphere a little bit uncomfortable. Breakfast was poor.... 'broken' coffee machine seemingly just requiring beans, presumably missed from a recent order. Many items missing from the buffet and the team obviously overstretched. The staff mentioned that the shift was busier than usual on account of the Abergavenny Food Festival..... something that is a well established annual event, making rota planning a particularly easy task... one would assume.
