This is our second stay at Brownstone Country Home on the outskirts of busy Lira. It is an oasis of cool and calm. The road is fine with only a short distance on unmade road (about 10 minutes). Individual thatch huts are situated in the garden. Our room was a double bed room ensuite with a seating area. The room rate was 80USD including breakfast. It is good value and on par with other accommodation locally. George owns and runs the estate farm, Julie looks after the guests and cooks meals. Meals are very good. We chose fried tilapia with rice and veggies for supper, Spanish omelette for lunch, plus a flask of hot water for tea and a French press for coffee whenever you need it. Everything is clean and tidy and the garden is well maintained. The only noise comes from the farm animals during the day and the cicadas at night.

We are very happy to recommend George's place to stay. We had hut 6 a small thatched room with private loo and shower. It was very comfortable. Remember: George's place is off grid, electricity and hot water from solar. Cooking on gas or on the fire. Patchy wifi but 4G is good. Make sure that you meet George for a tour of the farm - it is so interesting to hear his plans. George is very responsive on WhatsApp.

In our opinion a good stopover from 'Kidepo National Park' in the direction of 'Murchison Falls National Park'. Accommodation in beautiful, large gardens sufficiently far outside the town of Lira. Very quiet location. Certainly an ideal stopover for families. The room in a bungalow was clean and the bed comfortable. Friendly and motivated staff. We really enjoyed the meals.

Wanneer je in de buurt van het drukke Lira een rustig, groen en schoon onderkomen zoekt is dit je plek. De vis die voor ons werd bereid was overheerlijk. Het maakte een lange reisdag weer helemaal goed.
