It has been 40 years since we honeymooned in Scotland and now we wanted special experiences and views everywhere we went on this vacation. Glencoe House was one of the highlights of this trip, and by far the best hotel experience for us ever. We stayed for 3 nights and had time after our daily 15-mile hikes on the West Highland Way to explore the surrounding gardens and a lake built by the original owner as a gift to his wife! Glencoe House is maintained in its original historic splendor, with furnishings that are beautiful. Upon entering, we were greeted by James, a Scot in a kilt, who showed us to our suite (number 5) and gave us a historic orientation. This suite, maybe one of the "smaller" ones, had a huge bathroom (shower, sinks, heated towels), another room with side by side soaking tubs (with bubble bath, soaking salts, heated towels) with an incredible loch view, a large bedroom with king size bed, a sitting room with a grand piano and comfortable seating, and our own private dining room, again with a beautiful loch view, for en suite dining of every meal. The food was excellent, and the servers and service were excellent. Where else do you get a visit from a french chef asking what you would like for dinner? The breakfasts included a wide array of Scottish foods, as well as traditional fare. The refrigerator and bar in the dining room had any type of wine, whisky, soda, and other things. The hotel and grounds were always nice and quiet, despite it being completely occupied every night. The entire time we were thinking that this must be how royalty really lives! We have traveled a lot over the years and stayed in a large number of great hotels, including some of the best in Scotland. Glencoe House is the best of the best!

For my birthday this year, I stayed at the luxurious Glencoe House in the Scottish Highlands. It is nestled amidst a dramatic mountain scenery and has a great history – the staff told us it was originally built for Lord Strathcona and the additional detail they provided was fascinating. We stayed in a suite in the main house, which had stunning views over Loch Leven and surrounding peaks. We also had a private outdoor space with a hot tub. What really made Glencoe House stand out was its idyllic setting, the lake, private gardens and excellent food, from locally sourced ingredients. The food was provided directly to the room, which allowed us to to dine while taking in the dramatic views of the loch - we were then able to retire to the hot-tub after to watch the sunset.

We had a wonderful stay at Glencoe House. Everyone was extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. The history of the House is very interesting. We stayed in Suite 6 which had a huge bathroom with a large soaking tub in the middle, and a lovely alcove for dining in the living room with a view of the mountains. Since we were only there for one night, our hiking was limited to a very scenic 1 mile loop around the lake. We'd love to go back for more hiking in the area. The dinner, breakfast and service were first rate. Overall a great experience at a Scottish country inn and we would return in a heartbeat.

Wow. Such an amazing place to stay. My wife and I stayed in the lodge for two nights. The only complaint that I have is that we didn't stay longer. I wish we had stayed longer because it was an absolutely amazing place to stay. We stayed in one of the lodges that is self catering. They provide a stocked refrigerator that has fresh breakfast foods and they also have complimentary, high quality, frozen meals that you can cook at night. The rooms are very well appointed with a comfortable bed, a fireplace, dishwasher, kitchen, washer, dryer, jacuzzi, kitchen table, cookware, and more. I am not joking when I say that a person could actually live here because the whole lodge is quite large and has everything that you need. If you find yourself in Glencoe, you must stay here. It is one of my favorite places that I have ever stayed. Just fantastic.

Second visit to Glencoe House, staying in suite 8. The location and property are excellent, Sebastian’s food is ridiculously good and service is faultless. A hotel is still just a hotel and the staff make or break it and the team at Glencoe are exceptional. We’ll definitely be making a third visit.

We stayed here for 3 nights for our 20th anniversary at the end of October/start of November for our first stay in the Highlands - our friends thought we were slightly unhinged! We were blessed with three sunny days and one day of rain, snow, wind, rainbows and sunshine and got in lots of great hiking without needing a car. The location is absolutely superb: picturesque Lochan and it's three trails (loch, woodland and mountain) is literally on the doorstep, and it's an easy hike down to the Glen itself and up towards the Pap for tremendous views. The village of Glencoe is nearby with some lovely craft shops and cafes (seek out the waterfall too!) and it's an easy bus or taxi ride from Fort William. We also got a bus to Kinlochleven to hike to the Grey Mare waterfall and abandoned Mamore Lodge. Our suite (8) was not only truly enormous and quietly luxurious but cosy and comfortable, with easy-to-regulate heating and fantastic facilities and views. The bespoke in-room dining was a lovely experience and the chef coming to discuss preferences in the morning was so nice. The suite layout is really thoughtful, especially the bathroom and hot-tub facilities. Relaxing in the hot-tub looking over the Loch in the evening was an experience we won't forget! It was neat to be able to sync music from phone to wireless speaker as well, for some mood music over dinner. We didn't miss the open fireplace shown on the website (which is a bit out of date - they were decommissioned for safety reasons some time ago) at all - plenty of candles for a romantic glow, and there was a blazing hearth in the reception area. If you want to socialise with other guests this is not the place as there is no bar, but if you value quiet privacy, this is for you. You won't be short of a drink though, as the in-room honesty bar was exceptional both in range and value for money. All in all, very highly recommended and we wish we had stayed longer. Heartfelt thanks to all of the staff for such a wonderful stay and we hope to see you again.

Lovely and huge suite looking out over the mountains. Meals served in our own private dining room. Had champagne in our two matching clawfoot tubs while looking at the mountain. Just fabulous. Staff was very friendly. We would return in a heartbeat!

Excellent overnight stay in celebration of my 40th birthday. We stayed in suite 8 with hot tub which was perfect - huge terrace outside and very secluded. The suite was large and beautifully decorated with a real Christmas tree, a well stocked (and very fair priced) bar and a super comfortable bed made for a great night sleep! Our dinner and breakfast were absolutely fantastic - the chef (Seb) went above and beyond as did all staff we met to ensure our stay was top class - a special mention to Angela for making our stay that extra bit special. Our first time here but hopefully not the last!

This was our first stop on our weeklong tour of Scotland. First of, area of Glencoe is astounding! The valley was just so entrancing and the walks are unbelievable. Our stay at Glencoe House was very good. We selected Suite 2 and the views from the very large suite were breaktaking. The Hot tub was A+ - very hot, clean and large and again overlooking amazing vistas (specifically the loch's edge). The maxi bar was great. The towels and bathrobes, fluffy. Breakfast and dinner served in suite at the large dining room table. They had staff come in to present each course. The food was very very good. Though, not a huge fan of having meals in the suite because it also meant staff coming in and out to serve and clear up plates. The grounds of the hotel are lovely - well maintained walks galore. Overall, recommend and just be aware you are paying a large premium to do so. I'm still not sure I would book again at the price (740 GBP/night, which is comparable to The Fife Arms and about 3x more than the area) but we enjoyed our staff and also the staff is helpful and friendly.
