"We had such a great time staying at The Summit. The staff are friendly and helpful, they made us feel at home. We had dinner on the rooftop and it was such a lovely experience. The surrounding is peaceful and quiet. The room is clean and spacious. The view is just gorgeous."
"The hotel is over a hundred years old, since 1844. I felt as though I went through a time portal when I stepped into the dining area. Part of the hotel’s appeal is the history of the hotel. Don’t expect a modern hotel but rather embrace the well-detailed history on display throughout the hotel.
The hotel is located in the heart of the downtown area."
"The villa-style hotel is located on the mountain. The room has its own swimming pool. The overall environment of the hotel is great! Especially the dinner in the restaurant is highly recommended, with 9 local Sri Lankan food, equipped with a dedicated chef and music performance, and the price is a little expensive."

"The most expensive hotel in Sri Lanka, I was full of expectations, but was quite disappointed. First of all, there is a one-way road on the way up the mountain, and it is dangerous to reverse when there is a car passing by. The hotel has only six rooms, including breakfast and dinner, but the variety is too small, and it is a bit not full. Moreover, the dinner and breakfast are served very slowly. We were the only Chinese family that day, and we couldn't find anyone when we checked in, so we waited for a long time. The environment is very good, but it is too troublesome to go up and down the mountain, the service is average, and the hotel atmosphere is not very good. I don't recommend staying here."
"Like the hotel, not big, quiet. It is situated on a hillside overlooking the city. The environment is beautiful, the old trees in the backyard are towering, the interior facilities of the rooms are perfect and new, and the location is remote, the paradise"
"It's fate that I went to Sri Lanka for the second time. I went there in October last year. It rained heavily almost every day. It happened to rain heavily when I was in Kandy. I took shelter from the rain in front of this hotel. The clerk warmly invited me to rest inside and ordered ice cream. I actually booked this hotel for the first time. The location is great and it’s right by the lake."
"The old five-star hotel is located on the Mahaweli River, the mother river of Sri Lanka. It is a must-have hotel for Kandy people to get married. The British service standard is very good. Compared with other Sri Lankan hotels, the check-in and check-out are very fast. The software service makes up for the old facilities deficiencies, it is recommended"
"Good afternoon ! I chose a hotel next to the royal garden. Everything was wonderful, a nice room with a beautiful view of Kandy, a balcony, an excellent breakfast and its presentation, everything was wonderful.
Some minor disadvantages include the location: the car could not reach the hotel 200 meters away, the mountain is very steep.
There are two rooms on the floor, and one shower and washbasin. It didn’t bother me because... No one lived in the second room.
Thanks to the owner, he is very friendly!!!"
"On the outskirts of Kandy, the top of the mountain. The road up the mountain is steep and rugged, but after entering the hotel, it is small and exquisite, full of human touch, the restaurant overlooks the Kandy Valley, the scenery is very good.
It is worth mentioning the service attitude: We bring a child, and we add the extra cost of 15-20 knife in basically all hotels, but here we are exempted and a child breakfast is also given.
Especially to highlight is the evening buffet, originally wanted to order a single point, the manager repeatedly persuaded, in the mentality of not giving them trouble to barely order the self-help, the result found to be an unexpected surprise. Just... It's really quite meticulous and delicious. Especially after eating a few days of five-star unflattering buffet, it was absolutely a surprise here.
Don't say anything else, recommend
The photo has not been processed, the light is not very good, it is actually better than the photo"
"The overall environment is good, the location is a bit remote, far from the downtown, the scenery is quite good. The downside is that the facilities in the room are old, the lights are dim, the toilets are relatively simple, and the door locks are relatively old."

EEnglish RoseMisty Hills Villa Kadugannawa boasts the most incredible view over local mountains, best enjoyed if you are taking a cooling dip in the (small, but perfectly positioned) infinity pool! My husband and I were very well looked after during our short stay. The hotel staff served lovely breakfasts, organised two dinners for us and booked a tuk tuk for a day trip to Kandy. They also surprised me with a beautiful little cake on my birthday and even sang to me! The only small points I would make is that the dinners are not actually cooked on site - and that the staff did not offer to clean or make up our bedroom during our 3 night stay. Nevertheless, much kindness and warmth was demonstrated towards us and we loved the rural position of the property.
GGuest UserThe reserved room bedroom has a loft that can sleep 3-4 people. The public areas and rooms are well decorated and maintained. The location is not far from the city center, but close to the road and railway. It is noisy at other times except at night. The hot water switch was hidden in the closet and was not turned on when checking in. There were no additional instructions. The front desk got off work at 10pm and could not be contacted, so I had to take a cold shower. There was a small gecko in the bathtub. Except for the soup, dinner was pretty unpalatable. The two types of fish I ordered were overcooked, dry, bitter, and maybe burnt. When I first checked in at 2 pm, I wanted to have laundry delivered to me. I was told that if I picked it up before departure the next morning, there would be an additional fee. However, I checked into another hotel of the same brand the day before and had laundry delivered at 10 pm the next morning before checking out. Washing, drying and ironing are done for free. What’s also strange is that the front desk helps you fill out the satisfaction survey feedback when leaving the store and asks you to sign it, while the previous one asked you to fill it out realistically. When you see the high score, you are also asked to provide suggestions for improvement. The difference in service awareness is evident.

Very Good
JJodieRoom was lovely and service of the staff was good, but the room was noisy. Directly below us daily was banging constantly until I rang reception to ask them to stop. I could also hear chatting at full volume for the two nights we were there at gone 11pm. Bed comfort was amazing though and facilities good but noise just let it down.

EEissa ShamiyehAmaya hills Kandy located within scenic mountain ranges in the heritage charm of the kingdom of Kandy. The Amaya Hills Kandy has the architecture and charm and culture of the city of Kandy ruled by the last Sinhalese king Sri Vikrama Rajasinha (1780-1832) till 1815 when the British deposed him and was succeeded by Gerrge III after holding out against colonial powers the Dutch and the Portugese
The Amaya Hills reception has a Statue of the last king at the reception which is a huge open and deep balcony offering nearly 300 degrees of splendid views of the mountains
The hotel is complete with swimming pool and the breakfast and dinner we had were splendid and had many authentic Sinhalese dishes..
The rooms are open to a balcony and it is a treat to have tea viewing the magnificent mountains..
The level of hospitality matches the famed Celonese hospitality
and will be remembered for long and a must experience in Sri Lanka visit..
GGuest UserThe Good
The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture.
The Bad
The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient.
The Ugly
Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort.
Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.

GGuest Userhad pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I couldn't be more impressed with the level of service and hospitality we received. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable.
The team was incredibly helpful in arranging transportation and suggesting places to visit. They recommended we attend the Tooth Relic Procession and suggested us to visit a waterfall, which turned out to be the most breathtaking waterfall I've ever seen. Their local knowledge truly enhanced our experience.
When our cab dropped us off in the mid , the hotel staff immediately came to pick us up in tuk-tuk.
The staff was consistently polite and accommodating, making us feel welcome and valued throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place where the staff genuinely cares about making your stay special. Thank you for the experience!

GGuest UserThis hotel is on the top of the mountain. The view is very good, the environment is OK, the building is very distinctive, including the decoration of the room, but the worst thing is that the hygiene is very worrying, the door is a bit old, the refrigerator is so dirty that you can't get it off, and there are stains under the toilet seat There were urine stains and hair on the bed. The bed was two beds pushed together and it was uncomfortable to sleep on. The quilt was a sheet and was too tight to pull out. It was very uncomfortable to sleep on. Fortunately, there was a blanket in the cabinet to cover it with. Regarding the food, it’s not good either.

GGuest UserThe owners and employees at this hotel are so, so lovely.
Unfortunately their hotel is not. I almost feel catfished as many of the photos highlighted the bar and pool party atmosphere. This was not the case - the pool was a decent size but in the shade and I actually didn’t see anyone in it. The pool party drinking shots I highly suspect were perhaps not a genuine source.
The same goes for the bar which is massive and attended to by several lovely young, bored gentlemen as both times I popped up (once for dinner) I was the only patron. Again no party atmosphere or even people - which is a shame as it is a big venue.
Fortunately next door was another venue for some decent cocktails and music which saved the boredom somewhat.
The bedroom was a decent size with a small fridge (but didn’t work), the bathroom was small, felt dirty, no hand soap or soap for the shower (apart from leftover previous occupants - and that was gross).
The pressure was poor making showering difficult and there was plaster on the floor from some damage - not cleaned up.
The bed was massive and comfortable with air conditioning and a fan so sleep was good.
Finally, and to repeat, the staff were lovely. Very hospitable and the location is about a ten minute walk to the Sacred Tooth Temple and Kandy Lake. So great location.
Would I stay there again - no. Would I pop in to say hello to the owners and next door for a cocktails - possibly!
