Great location, friendly stuff and clean rooms. That will be it. Cleaning service is available only for people staying 4 nights and longer (in general it’s okay, but comparing to the other hotels may be a bit disappointing). Breakfast is truly upsetting, it’s worth it’s price, dirty counters, sticky trays, poor choice (usually hotels of such kind offer a choice of ordinary food for those who are not ready to eat local dishes, but there were no eggs or something basic of this kind. That’s why we skipped out paid breakfasts several times)
Truly crowded location, long waiting time for the elevator, no opportunity to use laundry because there only two washing machines)

The hotel is 10 - 13 mns walk from the end of Kyoto station. Though it doesn't sound a lot, to navigate through Kyoto station is quite something, then add 13 mns of walk. We arrived on a rainy day, so that didn't help at all. To travel to diff places in Kyoto, there is no bus or nearby subway, everything is Kyoto station as hub. There's nothing much around the hotel except a 7/11.
The room is comfy but very small, especially the washroom. It lacked space to hang clothes and towels, plus that faucet system is spraying water everywhere. The plus side is the water pressure (shower) is excellent! And there's a washing machine on site.
The reception kept our luggage, checkin at 3, there r umbrella to borrow. Tea (various types from Irish cream to Darjeeling) and ironically lacking green tea.
They provide 2 drip coffee, but no cream and sugar (even at reception), so black it is.
The diffuser is a gimmick but it did nothing. They give out a gift basket if you give review on Google...
I find they r trying to make it nice with the diffuser, flavored teas to enhance the stay experience, but small details like a warmer smile will be appreciated, plus green tea, creamer... a lot of details are lacking and still to be improved.

The hotel itself is modern and well-maintained, with clean and spacious rooms that feature all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The decor is stylish, and the facilities, including the self-check-in system, are convenient for a smooth arrival. However, it’s important to note that the location is a bit far from public transportation, which might be an inconvenience if you’re relying on buses or trains.but can go to Gojo station or bus stop for walking in 5-10 mins , the hotel offers good value for the quality of the rooms and service. The self-check-in system is efficient, and I appreciated that staff were on standby to help when needed. The hotel’s amenities were excellent, and the overall cleanliness and comfort of the room made up for the initial check-in experience.

KKawintopA Perfect Blend of Tradition and Comfort in Kyoto
During my recent stay at Saka Hotel Kyoto, I was immediately struck by its peaceful surroundings and inviting atmosphere. Located in the charming Higashiyama neighborhood, it offers an ideal launching point for discovering Kyoto’s historic sites. Despite being so close to famous temples and shrines, the hotel maintains a tranquil setting that feels worlds away from the bustle of the city.
From check-in onward, I was warmly welcomed by the professional and attentive team. Their devotion to creating a memorable guest experience was evident in every conversation. Whether offering sightseeing suggestions or promptly assisting with any need, they made me feel completely at home.
My room showcased an attractive fusion of modern design and traditional Japanese elements. Soft earth tones, tasteful décor, and well-chosen furnishings created an atmosphere that was both chic and peaceful. The spacious bathtub, in particular, stood out as the perfect place to unwind after wandering Kyoto’s centuries-old streets.
Although I didn’t have a chance to sample the hotel’s dining options, every other aspect of my stay was faultless. The exquisite decor, the serene environment, and the staff’s unparalleled service exceeded all my expectations. If you’re seeking a sophisticated, relaxing retreat that still allows you to easily explore Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage, Saka Hotel Kyoto is an excellent choice.

AAnonymous UserFantastic stay at VIA INN PRIME KYOTOEKI HACHIJOGUCHI! The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk from Kyoto Station, which made getting around super easy. One major plus was the 7-Eleven directly connected to the hotel, which was so convenient for grabbing snacks, drinks, or even a quick breakfast. The room was clean and well-equipped, and the staff were polite and efficient. A perfect base for exploring Kyoto!

LLyndaThis is not a hotel of three stars. It is a HOSTEL. I stayed here after I extended my stay by a night in Kyoto and everything was full - at least those with reasonable prices. It was a single room with shared bathroom. It was a mixed floor with separate toilets for men and women. The showers were only on the 2nd floor. Hotel/sleeping wear was available for free but I changed the first top as it smelt unwashed. I made my own bed after taking the little table off the raised dias and sliding it under the bed so you need to be active!. There is a mirror with a small ledge under it. No rubbish bin as you are asked to take it out of the room to the communal bins on the floor. The whole place is fairly new and very clean, and location is great. There are a couple of vending and laundry machines along with large canisters of hot water and a microwave. Breakfast is two doors down in the cafe which was ok. It is run by Sotetsu chain but should be classed as a hostel not hotel. You can leave luggage early before checkin or after checkout for a few hours. The staff at reception were helpful but it certainly isn’t a hotel. Most hostel’s have a place to prepare your own food not just a microwave. Not value for money IMHO.

PPui SheungThe hotel is located near the Kyoto Station. The room size is larger than many hotels in Japan. The hotel provide free dessert and drinks after lunch hour, some snacks with beer or wine after 6pm. The breakfast is delicious and had lots of choice. During my stay, the hotel provide materials for making a tatami coaster. It is worth to stay in this hotel. I will choose this again when I come back to Kyoto.

Jjan96The best hotel I’ve stayed at in Japan! It’s even better than another 4-star hotel I stayed at in Tokyo. Interactions with the staff were minimal, so I have no comments on that. However, the room and bathroom were exceptionally clean and spotless. I loved that the bathroom was larger than the usual hotel bathrooms, and the shower was separate from the bathtub as well.
The hotel offers great amenities, including a laundry machine, vending machines. There were also complimentary toiletries and drinks offered in the lobby.
While the location is a bit far from the main tourist attractions, there’s a convenient loop bus from Kanazawa Station that stops at various tourist spots, so getting around was still easy. There are also plenty of good restaurants nearby, along with a large shopping mall. The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from Kanazawa Station via the side exit near the dorayaki shop, which was very convenient. Plus, having a 7-Eleven directly connected to the hotel on the first floor was a huge plus!
The only downside was the buffet breakfast — while the selection was large, with both Italian and Japanese options, the taste was pretty average. I’d recommend skipping it since there are many nearby restaurants and a 7-Eleven. Another small thing was that the double bed came with only one pillow, whereas all the other hotels I stayed at provided at least two.
Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers!

YyukifumiOverall, it was a very good place to stay. We were looking for a clean place to stay on a budget, so this was just what we wanted. The service was also good, with a Japanese sake server for welcome drinks, free sweet red bean soup, and free ice cream after the bath - it felt like more than what the price would suggest.
The large communal bath was also clean, and seemed well-maintained.
We were surprised that the hallway to our room was outside, but it was nice and cool after the bath.
AAnonymous UserSuperb covenient location ( just cross the road then is the bus and jr station).
Room is clean with lots a good quality amenities provided including bath salt and face cleansing oil.
Walkable areas to shopping, convenience stores and breakfast shops. There’s is a big temple nearby which good to visit during evening time.

AAlenaVery nice family place! You can feel life in a regular Japanese house. Spacious room with a wonderful view, kotatsu and futons. The toilet is small and separate on the floor, but it is not a problem. In the hot springs there is a bath both inside and outside. The barrel is especially cool because it is separate and you can admire the forest. We arrived on a cold day, so we got maximum pleasure.
Dinner was traditional in the common room, where everyone had a good time. Hot pot with signature miso is very tasty! Breakfast is also traditional and tasty. Since we do not eat raw eggs, they made us a delicious omelet instead. Thank you for your care!
It is located a little far from the bus stop, but the views along the way make up for the distance. We were taken back to the bus station by car.
I recommend staying for a couple of nights to enjoy it to the fullest!
HHuayuye336It's about 10 minutes from JR station. The surrounding environment is very secluded, it should be in a residential area, it feels more like folk customs. There is a 100 yuan vending machine at the door, and the hotel does not provide water.
The room is really big, which is rare. There is a balcony where you can hang clothes every day. The shower water is very refreshing. The front desk seems to be available only at 9 o'clock, and there will be no one too late at night. As for hygiene... I suggest you wipe the toilet several times with alcohol wipes, and I also wiped the sink. It seems that the room is not cleaned every day. When I came back the next day, the room was not cleaned. I asked the front desk to change the towels the next day. The room is not soundproof, and the music next door is very loud in the middle of the night... For this price, it's okay.
