Very disappointed, went Sunday 10th 2024 for Mother’s Day. Party of 11 so had to pre order, however didn’t help. No horseradish-3 of us had ordered beef roast! Staggered service 2 meals arrived, a good 5 minutes before any more, the last meal arrived a good 15 minutes after the first! Charged £4.25 for cauliflower cheese, tasted more like white sauce than cheese. Couldn’t have ice cream as they had ran out. What is the point of pre ordering? Service very slow and uncoordinated

This is the second time I have been at the Fenwick in the last couple of weeks. The first visit was quite good. Seafood Platter delicious although we were given a huge bowl of mussels and no crevettes (we queried this and the crevettes appeared!) There was no artisan bread - they had run out - but staff were friendly and we enjoyed the meal. It was not warm and the fire had gone out - we were told it could not be re-lit as there was no kindling! However - on the back of this visit we booked to take our elderly friends out for a lovely lunch. ...A mistake! We had specifically booked a table by the fire - the fire wasn't lit - No kindling? There were two members of staff working - both very friendly and pleasant....but not hugely efficient; didn't appear to be communicating with each other and service was very slow. After a very long wait one approached us to ask if we were ready for our 'mains'....our reply was that we hadn't had our starters yet! The soup was poor - tasted like mashed up leftovers; the chicken skewers were minimal in size - just two very small mini fillets (overcooked and rubbery) on a stick and a bit of greenery - £8.99! However the cheese fritters and whitebait were good. The gammon and egg was interesting - a thick gammon steak but it was not tender and was grey in colour and no egg - They had run out of eggs! A hotel running out of eggs on a Thursday lunchtime - come on!!! The Fritto Misto was good - freshly cooked and hot with crispy batter but a very small portion of two calamari rings, a small prawn and a small slither of fish. We were embarrassed at the quality of the food and service - when we had sung the praises of this hotel to our friends. Very disappointing - and sadly we will not return.

The outside of the establishment is now looking tired. The staff on arrival were pleasant. We had a lunchtime booking and were advised that all the specials had run out. I ordered the root veg curried soup, it lacked seasoning and was more of a watery broth. The sourdough bread tasted off/ stale. I ordered braised steak which was okay. However, the sauce had an odd texture and left a vinegar aftertaste, the dauphine potatoes were greasy, overcooked and generally not pleasant. My husband had the Goan curry, again the sauce tasted like it came from a jar and had a vinegar aftertaste. We ordered a side of Lancashire cheese mash, it was reheated and only just warm, I'm unsure as to what made it 'cheese' mash We paid £99 for our experience and will not be returning. Suffice to say we really wanted a dessert have now tucked into outstanding food elsewhere!

Friendly, attentive staff; beautiful, cosy room; and incredible food. Will definitely be back to stay or even just to eat there again.

The room was well laid out and comfortable, good size bathroom and shower. We booked a meal in the bar, which was unfortunately below our expectations, the wine list didn’t correspond with the wine that they actually had. The description of food on the menu and special board was misleading and unfortunately when the food arrived we were disappointed. Breakfast was ok, the coffee, tea, cereal station was very limited and the coffee ran out and was not checked or replaced. The service in the bar both during dinner and breakfast was unenthusiastic.

I’ve been staying here quite frequently over the last few months awaiting a house move and to begin with it was excellence at a fair price. The superior rooms are the ones to go for (there’s two, 7 and 8) as the others are lacking general cleanliness (plenty of spiders webs and bugs around) and the beds in the standard rooms are significantly less comfortable than the superior ones. I’ve also eaten here a few times. The first time was great, the second time was barely edible.

Where do I start. We traveled to the Fenwick for a little break away from home. We arrived rather early. Upon our arrival we where met at the book in desk by a friendly and helpful staff member who informed us that our room wasn't quite ready (we expected that.) We decided to take a seat in the bar area for a drink and a light bite. The furniture was comfortable and the theme was very cosy. We opted for some lite bites for lunch, the wings that I got recommended certainly lived up to the recommendation crunchy on the outside a soft and juicy on the inside. The sauce and choice of seasonings perfectly complemented the wings. Our room was ready, so we headed up to the room. To our delight there was a clean and well kept cot bed for the baby. We did bring our own but there was no need for us to use it, so that stayed in the car, bonus. The room was clean warm and well presented the housekeeping staff did a fantastic job. The shower facilities where superb and the bathroom was spacious and immaculate. We headed out for our evening meal. We had pre booked a time to eat and again there was an example of excellent customer service. There was a clean high chair waiting for us at our table to make our meal time easy and relaxing. The Food - hats off to the chefs. My fiance opted for the cauliflower courgette and carrot bhaji. She stated these where the best bhaji's she had tasted (big statement) I decided on the soup of the day. This was perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavour, and also the sourdough bread matched perfectly with the seasonal soup. Main dishes - I left this up to Scott ( Manager) and I am glad I did. The Sunday roast was sublime the tender braised beef was falling apart and cooked to a perfect medium. The seasonal vegetables elevated the dish particularly the mashed potatoes. The gravy was rich and wholesome and was thoroughly enjoyed. We took off back to the room for an early night. Shortly after there was a knock on the door from a staff member who brought a specially made desert to the room on the house as it was my partners birthday this was a touch of class. I must give special mentions to Scott and his team as nothing was to much they where always at hand to help and make our stay comfortable and memorable. Also the bar man George was a pleasure to meet, polite, well mannered and very friendly. Thank you George and Scott we Will certainly be visiting again in the near future. Well done I would recommend anyone to stay here, great little gem.

the room was lovely and was well decorated and maintained.Lovely bathroom with a good powerful shower we were in room1 which i think was the largest room on available. The room could of done with some heating in the room in the evening as it was cold. the staff were very helpful and pleasant and the service was good. We went on a Thursday and there was plenty of free parking spaces. we booked the hotel as it promoted fish and steak on the menu-the tables were all set and well presented.i ordered fish pie which came in a dish and nothing else-the topping was crispy but overall it was really disappointing as it only had one tiny prawn and not much taste and a few green beans or a selection of veg would of made a real difference. i only have a small appetite but i was still hungry when i had finished the portion. my partner ordered the chicken katsu and it looked good and was very tasty but again just came with rice and no other side. So it was a nice experience but i would not go back due to the food-plus there are so many other hotels in the area
