It's quite a long walk from Southern Cross Station, and some of the paths are narrow, making it difficult to pull luggage. The front desk is on the second floor, and self-check-in is available. Since I arrived early and wanted to check in sooner, I paid an extra $25 per night to upgrade to a queen room with a desk. The deposit was $100. The room facilities were complete, though the shower head in the bathroom was fixed overhead and only allowed for direction adjustment. There were plenty of TV channels, including Phoenix TV for Chinese viewers. The staff on the ground floor were very friendly.

1. The location is decent, but the surrounding amenities definitely can't compare to the North Shore. 2. The room size is acceptable, and the view is pretty good; you can see the botanical garden from the room. The attached picture shows the view from the hotel room. 3. Breakfast was good and quite plentiful.

We booked a Deluxe King Room expecting a proper king bed, but it turned out to be two single beds pushed together. There was a noticeable gap in the middle which made it quite uncomfortable. We asked if a real king bed or a mattress topper was available, but neither could be provided. In the end, we had to switch to a queen room just to get a proper one-piece mattress. What made the experience worse was the attitude of the night staff. When we raised the issue, the response felt dismissive and unhelpful, which was disappointing for a hotel at this level. I understand some hotels use zip-and-link beds, but this should be made clear in the room description. A “king bed” should not feel like two separate beds joined together. Overall, the location is good, but the bedding setup and service experience did not meet expectations. I would recommend confirming the bed type in advance if this matters to you.

This is an old-school hotel that opened in 1913, and its original design aimed to match the luxury of London. The hotel lobby is absolutely stunning. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient with check-in. The elevator hall has a simple, vintage charm. The room itself isn't large, but as you explore, you find thoughtful amenities like slippers and toothbrushes, and other facilities cleverly hidden in well-designed cabinets. Everything looks quite nice when revealed. The bed was very comfortable, and the duvet wasn't too thin. My window faced an internal courtyard wall, so there wasn't really a view, even on the 8th or 9th floor. However, this also meant the hotel was very quiet. The shower only had a half-screen, so water tended to splash near the toilet. You need to be a bit careful when showering. The sink was small but deep, likely custom-made to fit the compact room. Overall, the design and layout are quite reasonable, providing necessary facilities within limited space. I purchased breakfast when I booked, and I remember it wasn't expensive, though it usually costs a bit more if you book it at the hotel. The breakfast spread wasn't very generous, and there were no live cooking stations. It was, at best, on par with a three-star town hotel's breakfast; I didn't even see boiled eggs. Surprisingly, though, they offered congee (rice porridge) with toppings like pork floss, seaweed, and dried anchovies, giving it a Southeast Asian twist. A little later, I saw Singapore Airlines flight attendants come down for breakfast, and it all made sense then – catering to a specific market need. Even though there wasn't a huge variety, they did offer gluten-free bread and banana cake. My friend said the croissants were terrible, looking like reheated frozen items. The breakfast staff also seemed visibly tired and a bit impatient, which is understandable considering breakfast starts at 6:30 AM. Despite the limited selection, I ate a lot that day, and the individual items were quite tasty.

The hotel is about an eight-minute walk from the Southern Cross Airport bus stop. The front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful, allowing us to check in early. The room, though compact, had everything we needed. The only downside was the somewhat limited space in the shower. I'd recommend this hotel for those catching an early flight.

The location felt a bit inconvenient to me. While it’s relatively close to some attractions, it’s still a bit of a walk to the Free Tram Zone, which makes it less ideal if you don’t want to rely on Uber. For travelers, buying a Myki card just to take trams or buses didn’t feel very worthwhile either. In terms of price, cleanliness, and overall vibe, the hotel was pretty good. The lobby and common areas had a modern, stylish feel, and the room itself was kept clean. However, in my room there was a large door next to the bed that couldn’t be opened, but I could still feel the draft and hear quite a lot of wind noise coming through. The room size was surprisingly small for the price point. I was a bit shocked at how compact it was when I first walked in. The bathroom and shower area also seemed poorly designed—if you opened the doors the wrong way, they could easily hit each other, which didn’t feel very safe. I didn’t use the parking or breakfast options, so I can’t comment on those. Overall, it’s a decent place for a short stay, but if you’re looking for spacious rooms or a super convenient location, it might fall short.

This hotel in Melbourne's city center is excellent. It's a quiet oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, with a unique and very new decor. It's spotlessly clean and tidy. Stepping out, you have easy access to dining, entertainment, and shopping, and the subway is super convenient for getting around. The surrounding area is full of high-end malls and luxury stores. Definitely worth revisiting!

Location: Just a few hundred meters from Southern Cross, with convenient stores, restaurants, and tram stops nearby. Transportation is very accessible. Room: Spacious, clean, and comfortable. Service: Below even the most basic guesthouses. Some of their policies are unbelievable for a hotel apartment in 2026. They seem dedicated to turning essential services into paid items. Unless you have no other choice, I don't recommend it. 1. The front desk isn't 24-hour. Don't book here if you arrive after 8 PM local time, as there's an extra service charge. 2. If you forget your key and need someone to let you into the apartment, there's an extra service charge. 3. If everything goes smoothly during check-in, you're a customer. If there's a problem, they act like they're royalty. A normal response would be to help solve the issue, but they seemed annoyed that it was delaying their shift, and their attitude was terrible. Amenities: Kitchenware, refrigerator, washing machine – everything you need. Just remember to bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, and slippers.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent stay – would definitely return Seamless check-in with really helpful staff. The apartment was spacious and had lovely city views. It’s in a great spot — perfect for a stroll along Southbank and easy walking distance to many of Melbourne’s main attractions. Everything was very clean, and the kitchen was well equipped for self-catering, with a handy local shop right next door. The gym was great too. Overall, a comfortable, convenient stay — I’d happily stay here again.

Amazing
Yering Gorge cottages is a bit of the way out of the city, but it is found within a gold course which is frequented by wild kangaroos, so the scenery is amazing and is a wonderful experience to be in nature with the free-ranging kangaroos. Breakfast is provided and it consists of bread, muesli, milk, orange, yoghurt. There’s a BBQ set on the balcony which is nice.  A few things to note: the toilet is very cold in winter ,without a radiator, there are currently no laundry facilities, and the wifi is spotty.

We are a family of 5 adult and 1 infant, and we booked 2 rooms separately. We primarily chose this hotel because of the good location next to the domestic terminal and a not-so-expensive price point (compared to Parkroyal which was directly opposite the hotel). The rooms were decently-sized, nothing too luxurious as it catered mainly to travellers transferring in the airport. The hotel had a massive gym, which was surprisingly given that it was mostly empty but they had all kinds of equipment catering to all body parts. We also had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and it was OK. Not the best food, but at least it filled out stomachs with the standard spread of Western food - fruits, bread, eggs and bacons etc. All in all, would recommend this hotel if you are transitioning at Melbourne for a night and looking for an affordable yet not too shabby place to sleep!

The location is perfect. Lots of eateries and shops around. Great view. Room was clean and staff were amazing. Two of the window latches and the ice cube tray were broken. Otherwise it was great. By the way, I am still waiting for the pre-authorised deposit back. Read some reviews that can be difficult or take long to get that back, hopefully it will not be this case as I really wanna book this hotel again.

Location: Can be tricky to find the first time as you need to turn onto Cyril Street. Look across the road for the white building with red writing. Check-in: easy and fast. The man on reception is friendly and organised, just a lovely receptionist. There is a bond of $200; be organised and you’ll save your time and the receptionist’s time. You can pay the bond in cash. Parking: great, BUT there are some permanents living there and so you might want to park away from them… you will see immediately where you should not park :) clean parking area. Seemed organised. Room: very clean, comfortable. There are no knives, forks or plates, but there is a kettle and a microwave. Teas coffees, etc. six milk pods, so maybe bring milk if you need more. Really make sure that you close the door properly or it will seem shut, but not actually be shut and will open :) Good curtains in the room that block out the light from outside. I noticed a fair amount of security cameras outside on the walkway, which was reassuring. Fantastic showers with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The bed is firm, but I liked it. Would or wouldn’t stay again? Unfortunately, no, not while they are acting as ‘crisis accommodation’. The staff and room were great, but there are some undesirables living there who kept us awake all night. Not exaggerating when I say, did not sleep AT ALL. We were up and down to check on the car - the permanents were screaming, fighting - some real Jerry Springer stuff. I was upstairs and the people next to me had a dog that barked all night, in addition to the couple screaming at each other :/ Downstairs, fighting, screaming constantly. it sounded like something got broken downstairs. A guy on a motorbike kept coming and going, visiting the permanents downstairs and talking super loudly, then more yelling and fighting after he tore off on his bike. I didn’t feel safe; I expected the car to get damaged. I realise those people’s behaviour is not the motel’s fault, but I was so tired the next day that I got a migraine and yeah, still fending it off now, day after. Not impressed with those feral permanents. It’s a shame because the staff and rooms are great

The reception, the lounge and communal kitchen is lovely and gives a warm and welcoming feeling. The gym is spacious and adequate equipment in good condition. Rooms are nice but like a usual hotel room. The large windows gave a nice view over the street and trees below. Location is next to many Asian restaurants and close to supermarkets. Trams and busses outside and two main railway stations relatively nearby.
