Box Hill Motel

I stayed in Box Hill motel between 3rd of Nov'23 - 5th of Nov'23. My husband and I arrived at Box Hill motel around 12-1pm. We were so exhausted as we took turn driving from Sydney - Melbourne. We drove from Sydney past midnight. Upon calling if we would be let in early, surprisingly it is allowed. Otherwise we would have slept in the car until check-in time if the room isn't ready yet. We got room no.1 and it was very clean. I didn't use the towel as I prefer to use my own towel, my husband also use his own towel. One of the hanging towel though had a snot on it and I put that towel aside despite we didn't use it. There were 3x plates in total and one of the plate was dirty and I assumed previous guest must have used this 1 plate and didn't wash it but instead just slipped it in between the clean plate. We used 2x plates for ourselves but I washed the 3x plates myself. Great Wifi speed too as I was able to complete a little bit of work from Room no.1. My parents always taught me to appreciate and respect people's places. Upon checking out, I saw Carol and OMG, she is so kind, friendly, down to earth and helpful. She was busy rolling people's luggage to their room. I remember my father always taught me the great businessman is not the one who always wanted to be served but the one who knew how to serve others first. There's a saying about ”servant leadership”. A great leader know how it feels to be at the bottom to observe, learn and serving others as well as better appreciate the top and experience various roles to understand the duties and responsibilities of each roles. THANK YOU Box hill motel team and Carol too for allowing us to stay at your beautiful clean and tidy place. We were able to sleep very soundly, hope nobody can hear us snoring :) I highly recommend Box Hill motel, Melbourne to anyone on a trip to Melbourne.

At this price point and location, what more could you ask for, really? This time, the hotel was very central, super close to the Rainbow Village and the beach, all just a little over a one-minute drive away.

Warm welcome by receptionist. Awesome service. Quality and service at par excellence. Very much near to train stations. The Best Western was perfectly fine for my one-night business trip to Melbourne—clean enough and very well-located. My only real complaint is that basic amenities were missing; there was no toothpaste or bottled water in the room. It didn't ruin my stay, but adding these simple comforts would go a long way for short-stay guests.

Transiting back home from New Zealand, I stayed for one night, and the price, combined with points redemption, was quite good. The key highlight is the 24-hour airport shuttle service, which is fantastic in Australia where labor is so expensive. I really hope the hotel keeps this up! 😊 No reservation needed for the shuttle. After landing and collecting your luggage, just exit the airport, cross the first pedestrian crossing, and wait at the spot shown in Picture 1. The vehicle is very distinctive because it's branded with the hotel's logo. The wait was about 15-20 minutes. The hotel has its own restaurant, which I hear is quite good, but I was really craving Chinese food. You can order delivery via Uber Eats; delivery speeds here can be quite slow, so it's a good idea to order as soon as you land. I recommend using the hotel's front desk as your delivery point. There's also an IGA supermarket about an 8-minute walk away, so if it's not too late, you can do some last-minute shopping there.

Lovely vibes, cool chill areas, community bar and community events plus the staff especially the lovely guy who booked me in was Amazing. However it's a very crappy old building with Nil working properly showers and broken toilets. I had 1 night in a nice female room which I barely even saw as I was out and Tried to rest at a 2nd booking being shoved into a mixed smelly weird noisy dorm on a top bunk with ****** knocking on the door at all hrs, one guy snoring and another twat on the phone I told off. Was stressful and I hadn't a Warm shower in a working functioning bathroom in 2 days. Not returning. If you like noisy rude tourists and old buildings with no lift carrying your bags everywhere and no showers, great!

The room was decent, but for some reason, there was a wet towel in the mini-fridge. Didn't housekeeping notice that? The Wi-Fi signal in the room was also very poor. When I checked in, the room key was just tucked into a scrap piece of paper, not a proper key card sleeve, so I had no idea how to connect to the Wi-Fi. The internal parking lot is quite spacious, but after 7 PM, it's virtually impossible to find a spot, and you have to park on the street. Luckily, they don't ticket there. What's more, an Indian woman actually knocked on my door one night asking if I had bought furniture and needed help moving it! And they didn't even provide complimentary drinking water in the room. The hotel itself is an old building with a lot of history, and the air conditioner remote control must be at least 30 years old. The pros are that there's a Chinese-speaking staff member at the front desk, and it's located near Box Hill, which is predominantly Chinese, almost like a Chinatown. Many restaurants are still open from 10-11 PM, truly showcasing the hard work of the Chinese community. Plus, the prices are reasonable, and the food tastes great. The roast pork at Xiaofang Yayuan, in particular, is as good as what you'd find in Hong Kong, even better than in Shanghai.
