"The guesthouse is conveniently located with easy parking, making it perfect for sightseeing and getting around. The courtyard is charming, and the rooms are clean and tidy, providing a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!"

"Located within the ancient town but away from the hassling buzz, this hotel has been bookmarked since I last visited datong in June. I'm glad that I finally get to stay here although I wanted to rest in the sun out in the open space but couldn't due to winter. Overall, great service and nice breakfast which is about 10mins away!"

"Located in the northeast corner of Dongnanyi, this hotel features a sunken courtyard with convenient elevator access. They offer a pick-up service, and it's very easy to walk to the main street of Dongnanyi. The ancient city wall is not far from the entrance, and the direct shuttle to tourist attractions is also nearby. The courtyard is comfortable and quiet, and the rooms are well-equipped and clean. The breakfast is plentiful, and all the staff are very enthusiastic. A special shout-out to the front desk young man who was incredibly thorough and attentive. Thumbs up!"

"The hotel is located within the ancient city, spanning two floors. It's conveniently situated near restaurants and attractions, just minutes' walk from popular restaurants like Longjuxiang and Xijindao, and also a short walk from the Huayan Temple. The rooms were clean and tidy, very comfortable, and fully smart, with robots delivering essentials. My child loved the hotel; the double bed and single bed were perfect for a family of three. Choosing this hotel was a great decision; exploring the surrounding area was smooth, and the stay was very pleasant. Highly recommended!"

"Best hotel in Datong! In center of old city. Well decorated hotel"

"Very comfortable stay. Hotel is older but in excellent condition with very comfortable quiet rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful and spoke good English. The breakfast was excellent with extensive Chinese and western options and even espresso coffee made to order. There was a bit of smoke smell in the corridor at times but none in the rooms and everything was very clean. Hotel was well located in the old town and close to the impressive nine dragon screen. We’d happily stay again"

"During our trip in China this was the most memorable Hotel. The hotel was really nice in the ancient city near the Prince residence and City Walls. The building has a traditional patio inside (covered) with a pool with fishes. The room was big, the bed very comfortable, nice bathroom, the room got all we needed for the stay (fridge, tea set etc...). Everyting vas very clean and tidy. The owner is really nice and caring, she came to pick us up at the station even if was late in the evening ad took us back at the check out. She helped us with our visit and suggested really good restaurants. The breakfast is in the nice patio, it is very good and traditional. I really hope I can visit again, I will surely suggest the hotel to my friends or anyone visiting Datong. Thank You!!!"

"We went during low peak Dec. The actual room looks better than the pictures. Super nice room. Love the toilet bowl seat. There is Smart control in e room. (Xiao ai 同学). Love the tatami room. We stay on the 2 ND level as e reception upgraded us due to low peak. The restaurant is in the basement. Our hotel is situation and near the 南门. From there , you can get out to the residential area for massage. But a taxi ride is around 10 yuan. Save us walking during winter. The court yard is so pretty too."

"Summer vacation kicked off, so my two friends and I, along with four elementary school kids, decided to visit Shanxi to experience the rich history of its ancient architecture. It was definitely a worthwhile trip, full of amazing discoveries! As someone visiting an unfamiliar city for the first time, I felt compelled to take the time to write a review for Yunqi Shanyuan B&B. This place truly elevated our entire trip for all three families. The location is superb, right in the heart of the ancient city, making transportation incredibly convenient. In just about ten minutes on foot, we could easily reach various attractions within Datong's ancient city, like Dongnanyi, Daiwang Mansion, and Huayan Temple – all closely connected and bustling with activity! My friend meticulously researched and selected this hotel. It's relatively new since its opening, with modern and well-equipped facilities, including smart voice control (Xiao Du). It's impeccably clean, tidy, and its convenient location is beyond reproach. They even have a washing machine, a tea area, and a reading nook for kids. The complimentary buffet breakfast offers a wide variety of options, many of which are local specialties, and it was quite good. Finally, what truly impressed and touched my friends and me was the thoughtful and warm service from the owner and staff, from top to bottom. When we arrived in Datong after transferring from Taiyuan by high-speed train, two cars were arranged to pick us up right away. Despite the light rain, the staff had umbrellas ready and were waiting for us at the intersection, helping us with our luggage and getting us settled in. Everyone was delighted! They also provided plenty of snacks, toys, and complimentary fruit that the kids loved. Any request, big or small, was promptly addressed and arranged. The service level was on par with a five-star hotel! A heartfelt thumbs-up! 👍 I sincerely wish the owner a thriving business and believe that with such a sincere service philosophy, they will surely prosper for a long time!"

"I cannot rate Tangfang Courtyard more highly. I almost don't want to write a review and reveal it to more travellers! The photos are accurate of the elegant, beauty of this courtyard based hotel. The room was high ceilinged with wooden rafters, smart, elegant shower, bowls of fruit, spoiling bedding. It was bang in the centre of the old city, yet completely tranquil in a gorgeously authentic, but quiet street. We were greeted warmly and cosily by Yezi, who welcomed us with drinks and fruit, and really couldn't do enough for us. My son is fluent in Mandarin but I don't speak a word yet still, she was eager to help me make my dairy free coffee in the morning, quickly sorted us a great, appropriately priced driver and comfortable car to go to the hanging monastery and grottoes the next day. This is unique in that is in an authentic building, elegant, yet cosy family atmosphere with a kitchen/dining room where all guests eat round the same table. The last effort Yezi and her colleagues made was to source me some of the very striking vinegar jars unique to Datong at a moment's notice, the morning we were leaving. Bearing in the mind, this was done via Google Translate, I cannot thank you them all enough. They made our stay in Datong memorable, beyond the obvious wonders of the UNESCO sites. Thank you again to all at Tangfang Courtyard. "
