Hotels near North District, Taichung

Very good hotel. Location is good for shopping: Yizhou night market is opposite the road. Many trendy shops and a huge department store just down the road. Very centralised to places of interest. The beds are firm and comfortable. The whole hotel feels clean and well maintained. Most importantly, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Box Design Hostel turned out to be a really good choice for my stay in Taichung. The location is great — close to everything, well connected, and easy to find food or transport around. The hostel is super clean. I was really impressed by how tidy the rooms and bathrooms were. Hair dryers, shampoo, and body wash were provided, which was nice and convenient. I also loved that they had free coffee, tea, and bottled water available anytime — very useful for travellers on the go! There are just a couple of downsides. The beds are quite slim, so if you prefer a spacious sleeping area, you might feel a bit cramped. Also, there are no towels provided, so bring your own if you plan to stay here. Other than that, it’s a solid hostel with a friendly vibe and great value. Would recommend for budget travellers who want comfort and cleanliness.

The hotel restaurant, rooms and public spaces are very clean and hygienic! In addition to the restaurant staff, other service staff including the front desk and housekeepers were very polite and enthusiastic. What I appreciated most was that the front desk staff helped us freeze the food so that we could take it away when we checked out the next morning. It was very thoughtful! ! The few things we would like to see improved are that the room did not provide disposable toothbrushes, toothpaste and shower caps, which made us have to go to the drugstore to buy toothbrushes and toothpaste as soon as we arrived on the first day, which really brought us inconvenience! In addition, we stayed in a room for 3 people, but the front desk said that only 2 mugs could be provided, saying that it was a hotel rule. This rule was too inappropriate. Since we paid for a room for 3 people and the room had 3 single beds, why were only 2 mugs provided? It’s a bit unreasonable that three of us adults can’t make hot tea together! ? Another thing is the restaurant staff. We stayed there for a total of 5 nights and 6 days. Every day when we went to the restaurant for breakfast, they always had negative emotions or had stern faces, and never greeted the guests entering the restaurant. I have dined and drank no less than 20 times during my stay in Taiwan, and this is the first time I have encountered such restaurant staff. As for the breakfast food, it is quite good, with a wide variety of items and good taste. Last but not least, if the room for 3 people can provide 3 room cards for guests to use, it will be more convenient for entry and exit.

This hotel offers great value for money. We stayed in a quad room on a weekday, and choosing the breakfast-included option was definitely worth it. Although it's an older building that's been renovated, the environment is clean, and the room is very spacious. The bed is a bit soft, but it's actually quite comfortable once you lie down. The room also has a refrigerator and a water dispenser, plus complimentary bottled water. In the evening, it's about a 15-minute walk to Yizhong Street Night Market, which is super convenient for trying out Taichung's local cuisine for dinner. The hotel only has 5 parking spaces, but the front desk provides information for a discounted affiliated parking lot for $150. We were also able to get a discount for street parking. The breakfast was simple yet delicious, with a mix of Chinese and Western options. My child said the white rice with braised pork, pork floss, and peanuts tasted like sticky rice cake. We would definitely be willing to stay here again if we visit Taichung in the future.

The lockers!!! Could have my huge luggage in it!!! It was my first time seeing such big lockers haha. The beds are comfy, though there are small cracks in between which means you can see the other person's light if they don't turn it off. Not super bright but can be annoying for some people (bring a eye mask if you're sensitive to that, some people DO leave the light on ALL night) I didn't have any trouble with hot water personally though they warn you about it. The trash is outside the room so I would recommend keeping a small trash bag if you're too lazy to move 🤭 The area is nice, the little market next street with live performance is good to hang out to! Overall good experience. 👍

The TV in the room doesn't work. After informing the counter staff in advance, they came to repair it, but it didn't work. I told the staff that it was okay if I didn't use it. Later, the staff called the room and said they would help us change the room. After seeing it, I found that it was an upgraded room type. The service was good and polite. The CP value is high. This room is highly recommended. It is really close to No. 1 Middle School for shopping. 👍🏻

The location and room size are in line with expectations😊 There is also Yuanbao Palace next to it, so it feels very safe. It would be better if slippers were provided in the room. Next time I go to Taichung, I will consider staying here again.

The room has good lighting and is bright even during the day without turning on the lights. There is a 711 opposite the business hotel and a Family Mart next to it, which is very convenient. The lobby reception staff were very friendly. The room was very clean, the only downside was that there was some mildew on the shower curtain, but there was enough space when taking a shower so it didn't touch the shower curtain, so it was okay. The soundproofing is a bit poor. In addition to the sounds from the main road, you can also hear the door opening next door. The breakfast is rich and delicious, and the massage chair in the leisure room is great! I will still choose here next time I come to Taichung! 😊

Pros: · Excellent Location: Right in the center of everything, perfect for food lovers. Easy access to street food. Cons: · Poor Housekeeping: Our room was not cleaned once during our stay. · Average Service: Hotel staff service was just okay. · Basic Amenities: The provided amenities were nothing special. Verdict: Choose for the location, not for the service or luxury.
