Excellent location and easy to locate. Clean and friendly host.
Have to contact the owner to open the door for check in- she lives next door. Room for 4 is on the 3rd floor. No lift. Owner was very helpful and very responsive. There was a small problem with the toilet which was resolved immediately. Owner allowed us to bring our bicycles inside, and also provided a dehumidifier for us to dry clothes after washing. The homestay is new and very clean.

We were lucky to get a four-person room. The soundproofing was okay, and the room was great. The location is a bit far from the city center, but within an acceptable range for Yuli Town. It's very close to the night market. The guesthouse was fantastic and super clean. The best part was the toilet; the toilet and bathroom functions were excellent. The shampoo and shower gel also smelled wonderful. It was great!
This guesthouse is brand new! The hosts, a lovely couple, even offered to pick me up from Yuli train station and drove me around Yuli, pointing out famous local eateries. They also lent me a bicycle. It's very close to the entrance of the bike path, which is definitely worth checking out. Chatting with them made time fly by; I wish I could have stayed longer.

A relatively new business hotel in Yuli, Hualien, with a good view, a good location, and breakfast is OK. It can provide business people with choices. Although there are not many parking spaces, it is not difficult to park nearby.
Located in the downtown area of Hualien, New Zealand and China is the key to Hualien city, whether it is the cultural and creative park full of arts and culture, the scenic South and Beibin parks, or the Hualien, which gathers gourmet food and excellent gifts Downtown… New Zealand, China is definitely the best starting point for your trip to Hualien ~ Not only that, there is also Dongdaemun Night Market, which gathers food! Not only the geographical beauty center, but also the historical, cultural and sensory center of Hualien.
Incredible site with superb staff, and a great triathlon as the owner (Leon)’s incredible stories. Worth the trip!!!

Excellent
美美雲beenThe hotel's promotional material stated that ice cream was available 24/7. If there was an issue preventing this, they should have updated their advertising and politely informed guests, instead of having staff speak to guests like they were criminals, saying, '...it's not time for free ice cream yet...' This left a very bad impression.
HHSIAO CHINGA wonderful experience, surrounded by mountains and streams, breathing in the fresh forest air and enjoying the natural scenery. The hotel's facilities were great, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Due to its secluded location, all meals were enjoyed at the hotel. The ingredients were quite unique, and I especially loved the blanched seasonal vegetables at dinner 😋. A pleasant fragrance permeated the entire hotel; I wondered if it was used to deter insects!
GGuest UserThe location is convenient, and they offer free bikes (single-speed, but free!). The room view was expansive and beautiful, and breakfast was decent. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it was because of the towels, but I developed several red rashes on my body. I only noticed this after checking out the next morning, so I didn't get a chance to tell the hotel.
AAshley Y.The staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly, making our stay truly enjoyable. The room was spacious and well-maintained, adding to the overall comfort of our visit. Azure Hotel is strategically located, with Dong Da Men Night Market just a short walk away, which was very convenient. On top of that, the hotel provides complimentary parking for guests, which was a very convenient bonus for us.
NnotrevePositives:
- like all lakeshore hotels in Taiwan, fantastic breakfast spread, especially incorporating local hualien food like gongzheng baos etc…
- sauna with a sea view.. what else to ask for
- children playroom
- comfy rooms and excellent service all round by all staff
- bath tub near the window where you can soak and see the sea
- coin operated laundry room with washers and dryers (affordable plus only two each.. so may have to wait)
- small snacks and beverages provided for guests daily on the ground floor
Negatives:
- only really gripes is the location.. about 2 km away from the city centre so not much to do in the neighbourhood
- sea view room is actually the view of the port and a distance away… technically hotel is not wrong.. but should lower your own expectations
AAnonymous UserHad a very underwhelming experience for the money that we paid for this hotel. Decor was very outdated (i.e. 2000s), which was understandable as this is an old hotel. Service staff was quite rude when we asked for directions and recommendations for food and things to see around the area. Do note that the carpark is very small and there are no parking lots surrounding the area. When we checked in, the carpark attendant told us that their carpark lot was at full capacity.
GGuest UserOverall a good experience (except one thing - see in the bottom). The location is somewhat central and on the walking promenade, but not very close to the railway station or the waterfront. About 25-35 min walk to the railway station but still okay. About 15 min to the waterfront.
Food options: there are a couple of local restaurants right near across from the promenade, including a noodle shop, a tempura donburi and a fried seafood place - all along the promenade. There's also a PX Mart not too far away, about 5 min walk.
The rooms are spacious and clean, very new renovation (as of 2025, seems like 2023-2024), no fridge in the room (on the first floor only), but there's a kettle. The bed was somewhat stiff but okay.
Overall felt like great value for the location and the quality, and especially the room size.
The only drawback - Easy to fix - was the towels. There was no proper size bathroom towels on my stay in May 2025. The small towels are rather insuficcient for showering.
GGuest UserThe exterior may not be very stunning and the hotel may feel a bit old, but after entering, you will slowly discover its inner charm.
The Daoxiang double room we stayed in was very elegant and large, especially the oversized bed which was super comfortable to sleep on. I am an elderly person who is undergoing neck rehabilitation and I am very picky about beds and pillows, but I slept very soundly and deeply here. A big thumbs up to the hotel owner for choosing the hard bed facilities. The room is super clean. Although the hardware equipment is not new, it has a simple and elegant charm, which I like. It's a bit like Kung Fu tea that needs to be savored slowly.
We are an elderly couple who came to Hualien to visit friends. Before checking in, we requested a quiet room with no smoke. We could not stay in the side room due to our physical condition. Although the room had some minor flaws in sound insulation, the hotel met our needs. The peaceful and pleasant environment in the rice fields will give you a good night's sleep.
The backyard also gets high marks, and is perfect for a relaxing stroll.
The breakfast was rich and delicious.
This is very suitable for us who don't need dazzling amusement facilities and come here to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing accommodation environment.
The only drawback is that they don't provide dinner, but we solved that by using the hotel's instant noodles and ordering takeout via mobile phone.
The price is very reasonable and it is a highly recommended accommodation.

TTobias TDuring my recent trip to Hualien, I had the unique opportunity to stay at the Peace Prison Cafe Inn Hostel, and it truly exceeded my expectations. As soon as I arrived, the prison theme instantly caught my attention. The rooms were designed to resemble prison cells, which added an intriguing and immersive element to my stay.
One thing that stood out to me was the absence of a traditional reception desk. Instead, to gain entry, all guests need to do is call the contact number provided, which adds a touch of mystery to the experience. The lady working there was exceptionally helpful and patient, even taking the time to explain how to use the facilities in Chinese. Her assistance made my stay all the more enjoyable.
As a solo traveler, I couldn't help but appreciate the eerie vibes that the place exudes, especially since I'm a fan of horror. Every night, I found myself immersed in an atmosphere that perfectly catered to my taste. It's not often that you come across a hostel that provides such a unique and thrilling ambiance.
Cleanliness is always a priority for me, and I was pleased to find that Peace Prison Cafe Inn Hostel did not disappoint in this aspect. The rooms were well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay. The convenient location of the hostel was also a major plus, making it easy for me to explore and enjoy everything that Hualien has to offer.
In conclusion, if you're an adventurous traveler seeking a one-of-a-kind experience, I highly recommend checking out Peace Prison Cafe Inn Hostel. With its prison-themed rooms, helpful staff, eerie ambiance, and convenient location, it's an ideal choice for those looking to add an exciting twist to their trip. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
@@travel_with_the_sunIt's clean, it's close to the train station, where you can rent a scooter to explore Taroko National Park, also have a gas station next door to refill your scooter and you are next to the main road to go to the National Park. There is enough stuff to cook yourself something. Communication with the landlord on self check-in went well and I could check-in earlier because my bed was free, actually I was the only guest in the dorm on my first of two nights.
It was calm and the entire hostel & bathroom was very clean. I liked, that you can buy razors, one-way towels, toothbrush kit for a small fee, even if I didn't need it.
The only downside, and that's why I gave it -3 stars in amenity was, that the mattress was so hard, it felt like sleeping on the floor. The room had a bit of strange moisture smell, but I could get used to it quickly. If there would be a thicker, less hard mattress, that place would get total points.
On the back door / balcony you have a nice view of the mountains. (The picture attached is taken from the road, but if you crop the lower half, it's what you see)
