This was our first stay at the Principe Pio Hotel, we booked a room with a Palace view. On arrival we were upgraded to a top floor suite by very friendly staff on reception. The room was delightful and looked like it had recently been decorated. We had terrific views of the Palace. The room was kept in tip top shape on a daily basis and nothing too much trouble for the staff. One minor gripe was the mattress was a little firm for our tastes. Our first night was inadvertently spent with the windows ajar and it could be noisy as it’s on a main road combined with the peacocks calling from the palace garden. From then on with the windows closed it was absolutely fine, the aircon worked very well and was whisper quiet. Although this is classed as a 3* hotel we had a safe, fridge and tea making facilities to make our stay really comfortable. There is a roof terrace with plenty of seating to enjoy the sunshine too.

Excellent location. Méndez Álvaro station is three blocks away and the line that takes you to the airport stops right there. The only issue is the outlet type. Only European, so bring your own adaptors. The bathroom has no real door. You close the shower and the toilet is open. Other than that, the hotel is really good. They lend you a hairdryer for free, have hot water, and the staff were extremely kind and nice. I definitely recommend this place.

My stay at Petit Hostel was fantastic! - The check in process is easy to use.. - The atmosphere is very warm and friendly. - The rooms and bathrooms are great. - It is situated in a very good location to explore the highlights of the city of Madrid. - Rodrigo, the owner was very helpful and great to chat with! I can't recommend enough;

Good place to stay for short trips to Madrid, we will probably book again at the property in the future, perhaps with breakfast and late check out for a change. We loved the enviroment and atmosphere. Beds where confy, but if you have big luggage it may be an issue Lockers available as well.

El día 03/4 arribamos a Madrid con mí esposa siendo el destino de estadía el Hotel Puerta de Toledo, llegamos a las 5.40 hs aprox al llegar nos recibe una persona de sexo masculino que se encontraba de turno en ese horario, quisimos ingresar por una puerta giratoria que creíamos estaba habilitada , lo cual nos dice que ingresemos por una puerta corrediza lateral automática. Una vez dentro del hotel y mientras yo me ocupaba de presentar la documentación correspondiente , mí esposa se adentra aún más al interior del hall de entrada frente a la puerta de los ascensores donde se encuentra un asiento circular , mí esposa en todo momento contuvo su mochila agarrada de ambos lados y al hacer un ademán quitándose la misma de un lado de su brazo para quit**** la campera y sosteniendo con su otra mano la mochila intentando apoyar la misma sobre el asiento para poder terminar de quit**** su abrigo , es ahí donde suceden los hechos y , en término de segundos siente una estampida de una persona que logra visualizar ( varón, alto , delgado ,tez blanca) que desde más adentro del interior del hotel arremete en forma violenta , a tal punto de sustraerle la mochila de su mano y con la misma velocidad salta pisando los asientos y huye velozmente hacia el exterior del hotel , saliendo por la misma puerta corrediza automática. En ese momento y debido al shock y el impacto violento mí esposa entra en un estado de shock produciendole una crisis de nervios . Al hacer el reclamo a esta persona encargada que nos había recibido, nos dice que ellos no pueden llamar a la policía porque solamente intervienen en casos de extrema violencia y no de hurtos o arrebatos restándole totalmente importancia al hecho!! , por lo que no quedaba alternativa de hacer la denuncia policial en forma personal , a esa hora de madrugada ,no conociendo nada , con el cansancio y frío y despues de 12 hs de viaje. Es por esto que queremos repudiar la actitud DESCORTES, INDOLENTE y DESCONSIDERADA con la que actuó el Sr de de la recepción lo cual solicitamos a la empresa que tome medidas al respecto de esta persona ya que su actitud nos hizo sospechar una franca complicidad con personas extrañas que ingresan y que operan SUSTRAYENDO! y/o ARREBATANDO! pertenencias a los turistas.Cabe aclarar que en la cámara de seguridad del interior del hotel quedaron grabados el suceso relatado . No obstante las viscicitudes de las mismas viviendo esta situación dramática, al volver de realizar la denuncia correspondiente ,esta persona ya no estaba en la recepción del hotel, encontrándose en su lugar la Srta Sandra Zimerman lo cual destacamos su labor y predisposición ya que al tomar conocimiento de los hechos automáticamente se puso a disposición nuestra tratando de tranquilizarnos como también de ofrecernos el asesoramiento y la ayuda en todo momento , para tratar de realizar las gestiones personales correspondientes. The location of the hotel is very good, and there are a lot of open-air restaurants and shopping places. But the hotel has a certain room type that can accommodate three people. Whether the couple carries a child or the parents carries two children, the front desk strictly implements the rules for two people. You need to add money to another room type with a sofa bed to accommodate three people. This information hotel did not provide at all when booking with Ctrip.

We stayed at the Hotel Opera recently for the second time, to celebrate a special Wedding Anniversary. We had an absolutely wonderful time. The hotel is centrally located, right next to the Opera House and close to all the attractions of central Madrid. We had nothing but excellent service from the staff throughout our whole stay - they are very responsive and helpful. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable with everything you need including a few little extras like a comb and shoeshine. Breakfast was excellent every morning, a great choice of English-style and continental offerings, The Spanish tortilla and home-made fruit tarts are particularly recommended. You need to book breakfast at a specific time, and this avoids the ”scrum” that some previous reviewers have described. Just two things prevent me giving a 5-star review. First of all it is some time since the hotel was refurbished so some of the fittings are starting to look a little tired. Secondly the cafe has changed since we were last there, it used to be possible to get tapas-style snacks from a counter display 24/7, now it is table service with hot food only available when the kitchen is open - in the evening it starts serving at 8pm which is a little late for us, so if you feel the same you need to go out to one of the many good tapas bars around. But overall we love this hotel and will certainly revisit!

Very good, modern hotel, in a fantastic location in the city. This hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from the local Metro station and less than 10 minutes walk to Plaza de España and the beginning of Grand Via. To reach the very Centre of the city (Sol) it's only 20 minutes by foot or you can use the Metro with only one change. We paid direct to the reception for breakfast on one of our 3 mornings and it was well worth the money. A good range of tasty food and drink on offer. The bed was very comfy. The WiFi worked very well. Air con was excellent. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We will return to this hotel.

I have stayed in many hostels before but at TOC it was the first time I stayed in a shared room ( female only). I was a bit worried as I didn't know what to expect but it turned out great. The hostel is awesome, has friendly staff and is the most modern hostel I have ever stayed in. The rooms were quite nicely soundproofed as you couldn't hear much from the hallways as it is usual for other hostels. In my 6 bed female room, we had 2 toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 showers - it was enough. :) I will be coming back, definitely!

The English service is supported, and the location is very good. Most of the attractions in Madrid can be reached by walking, and there is a subway station nearby. The ninth and tenth floors overlook the city. The room is also relatively neat and clean, overall it is a good living experience
