Decent place to stay, pretty close to work, tight shower, dirty parking area, walls paper thin - couldn't sleep one night.

You can tell this place seems past is heyday. But that doesn't mean it's not a great place to stop for a stay day!

After working all day and then driving 3 hours, all I wanted was to get a hot bath. All that came out was cool water, not even warm. The front desk did not help at all. He said it was a maintenance problem and they weren't in until the next morning. Then he said it could be that everyone was using the water at the same time (at 10pm) so give it 15 min and try it again. It was the same temp each time. Then the beds were ridiculous. The mattress sits on a board and not a boxspring, so each time we moved, the mattress slid off. My husband ended up on the floor because his side was about 6" off the board. I picked this hotel because it was 4 min from a tournament my son had. I wish I would have just chosen somewhere else.

Very relaxing. The only disappointment was not having the hot tub. It was the reason we choose the hotel for the second year.

There were no towels available at the pool, when I asked for some, was told they were drying. We had to use our room towels. Called houskeepung for more room towels for showers then later. None were brought. Had to go to front desk for them. The grouses nest did not want to take our food order due to them being busy. The second room we got across from poolside room was only 62° due to the outside door not sealing and having horrible draft. When we finally got to shower, neither of our rooms had hot water, they were barely luke warm. And after getting home and checking bank account they charged me for 2 poolside rooms when i only had 1! Horrible experience.

The heat wasnt working properly but the staff in the daytime were very helpful. Unfortunately after being moved rooms due to cold conditions and no heat on the second floor, no quite hours were inforced by night staff and there was partying, loud music, yelling kids until 2 am. Breakfast was alright but wasn't tended to so it was missing most of the food. But the hotel is beautiful, clean, and the pool and bar are pretty cool. Just needs some updates in HVAC and thicker walls.

The Altoona Grand was fine. It needs to be updated/renovated. Carpets in hallways were dingy. Bathrooms need updated. Front desk staff were welcoming and helpful. The onsite restaurant was ok. Good and service was good.

First, I was given card to a room another guest was already using.
The gym equipment was broken.
The corridor has a musty odor.
Breakfast options were very poor.

We were put in a room near the pool, and it smelled really heavily like chlorine. We were told that there were no other rooms available. The Bathroom was not clean, and the ceiling was stained, the refrigerator did not work, and the TV was super small. To top all that off, apparently there was a pool tournament, and it was very loud all night!
