Indigo Hotels in Melbourne

Location: ★★★★★ Service: ★★ View from window: ★ Cleanliness: ★★★★ Overall, the hotel's location is fantastic, couldn't ask for better. It's incredibly close to the central train station, the river, and the city center. The only downside is the service, which is just average. They only make the bed and don't clean anything else. Plus, no complimentary water is provided in the room. The room itself is relatively new, and the environment is decent with no strange odors. On the other hand, there's basically no view from the window, and you can see into other rooms, which means zero privacy. So, you have to keep the blackout blinds drawn even during the day. This hotel is best suited for those who come back late to sleep and head out early in the morning.

The room was new but small. Perhaps my expectations were too high, especially after experiencing the much more upscale Indigo hotels in China (particularly the four in Yunnan). This one felt more on par with a Holiday Inn with a unique design, which is typical for international hotels. The Indian-descended gentleman at the front desk was incredibly humorous, professional, and helpful – a big thumbs up! There was also an Asian staff member wearing glasses who was very warm and friendly, almost embodying a Japanese-style service ethos. The self-service breakfast section was quite disappointing; there was hardly anything appealing to eat. The à la carte options were all too high in calories, though the coffee was good. The gym was spacious and well-equipped, even though there weren't many machines, it was sufficient.
