In November 2023 I made a reservation for a 3 night stay in May 2024. In February 2024 I received an email stating that due to a substantial rise in operational expenses, the total cost for my stay would increase by over $25 per night, and the $15 cancellation fee would increase to $50. I spoke to G who was very nice, but was unable to help with the rate increase. I wasn’t happy and felt this was bad business, but we’ve been wanting to visit Avenue of the Giants so we went. The property is quaint and rustic, and the location on the Avenue is ideal. There are restaurants and a gas station across the street. The woman at the front desk was very helpful. However, the continental breakfast was discontinued and although the pool is supposed to be open May to October, during the 3rd week in May it wasn’t open yet. All in all it’s still the least expensive place to stay on the Avenue, and we enjoyed our time among the redwoods. But I can’t recommend it to a friend or family because they didn’t honor the reserved price.

We made reservations in November of 2023 for May of 2024. In February 2024 we received an email saying the rate was being increased by $30 a night. If our nephew was not being married at the resort we would have cancelled the reservation, it seemed a bit like bait and switch. I spoke to the front desk about the price increase being waived since we had a confirmation for the lower price months prior. They said there was nothing they could do. Apparently there are new owners and this is the way they run their business. The staff, most of which were hired by the previous owner and I believe reflect their ethics, were great. We stayed in cabin 4, it was spacious, full kitchen, ceiling fans were sufficient in 90 degree heat. I would give the staff and location 5 stars, the current owners get 1 star. Because the owners are ok with increasing the pricing whenever it suits them I would not stay here again.

This was our second time staying at Miranda Gardens on Avenue of the Giants. It retains a lot of it's historical charm and you can't beat the location. We have reserved cabin 10 twice now which is a one bedroom one bath cabin with kitchen. It's a bit quirky with the TV in the bedroom but since they have good streaming now and not just the lousy basic cable channels it's OK. It's handy to have the gas station and market right across the street. Our only real beef was the change in price from our reservation to what we actually paid. We were there for the May marathon and we made our reservation way in advance (you have to, it fills up real fast). A couple months before the marathon we get a notice that the cost for our reservation would be more than $100 per night more than when we reserved. There's two marathons on Avenue of the Giants, one in the spring and one in the fall and the dates are set about a year in advance so it's not like they don't know when things are happening. Can't they adjust their pricing for those weekends in advance also?

Sweet place to stay in the redwoods. We stayed two times on this trip with a fishing trip in-between. We stayed in two different units and both were clean and comfortable. Only negative is that the kitchen supplies are limited. Only 3 plates, 4 forks and spoons, and no basic seasoning or spices (salt &pepper only). Will come prepared next time.

We're just winding up a 3-night stay in Cabin 14 (with one of the dreamy new king beds). The well-equipped kitchen was put to good use for breakfasts and lunch preparation and to reheat a couple of dinners brought from home. It was especially appreciated since restaurant options are very limited in this area. The vintage cabin and grounds are beautifully maintained and the staff, pleasant. TV channels are limited, but the strong wifi signal allowed us to watch our preferred news and read our papers on my laptop. We spent one whole day driving a giant loop up to Ferndale for breakfast at Poppa's and a stroll through the little Hadley Garden, then back down the lost coast through Petrolia, Honeydew, and the Rockefeller Grove. We look forward to a return visit with family. The grandkids will love this place, as do we.

Two couples rented Cottage 12 2 nights the weekend prior to July 4th. Checked in early evening, which was pleasant and prompt. Very friendly and offered information for dinner options. The ‘cottage’ was on the backside of another set of rooms, but this didn’t disturb our stay. The rooms and bath were clean with the basics. The grounds were well shaded by tall redwoods, very well kept and included an ice machine, pool, fire pit area, playground, basketball court and ping pong table! We especially enjoyed the porch running the entire length of our rooms. Staff, guests and locals were friendly and easily struck up a conversation with us. We’ll definitely return when visiting again! With limited breakfast options at the drive-through coffee place, we suggest adding breakfast as an option for guests.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Miranda Garden Resort in February and it was absolutely beautiful!!! We truly wish we could have stayed longer. Our cottage was incredibly spacious and very clean. Our bed was very comfortable and the fireplace was quite elegant. The bathroom had plenty of room for the both of us and the kitchen was fully stocked. The property is nestled in the Redwood forest on the Avenue of the Giants and is breathtaking. Plenty of places to visit and explore and no need to worry about amenities for everything you need is simply across the street. We are looking forward to staying again next year when we are passing thru. Thanks again, Kenny N.

I made a reservation on 9/15/23 for February 21, 2024. I received a confirmation number and price. On February 19 I received an email telling me I would be paying between $20 and $40 dollars more due to rising costs. I did not trust someone who would not honor a confirmed reservation so I chose to stay rather than pay a cancellation fee and book a room elsewhere. I was charged 40% more than original price. The desk clerk said she had no option to change the price. The owners do not live near this hotel and seem to manage reservations online only. I reported this incident to the local Chamber of Commerce and will attempt to contact Better Business Bureau. I contacted my credit card company. I am disputing the increase in rate. I am shocked this would happen two days before my arrival. The guest staying next to us had the same experience. Avoid this place! Avoid this place!

This place was great! The woman working at the desk and the owner were very nice and accommodating. The cottage room we had was very clean and cozy. The restaurant across the street was really good also. There are Redwood trees right outside your door. I will stay here again when in town and will recommend this hotel to anyone I know heading to the area. 5 stars
