"The hotel is very close to the ancient city, about a 10-minute taxi ride or a 30-45 minute walk. There are shared bikes in the vicinity, but you'll need to look for them. There are supermarkets on both sides of the hotel entrance, with the one on the left being larger and fully stocked with all sorts of daily necessities. We even bought several bottles of vinegar to take home. The hotel lobby offers coffee, popcorn, and ice, and there's a self-service beverage machine right as you enter. The hotel has four floors; the basement has guest rooms, a restaurant, a gym, and a laundry room. The restaurant only serves breakfast, and I particularly recommend the knife-cut noodles and lamb offal soup with vermicelli. The dishes are all delicious, with both Chinese and Western options. It's 20 for adults and 20 for children (check the hotel policy for specifics), which I personally think is great value. The staff are all very enthusiastic, and the front desk staff are beautiful and speak softly. The hotel offers nine free services: laundry, foot bath basins, evening porridge (currently unavailable), laundry (staff can help with washing, then pick up at the front desk), and daily necessities (razors, facial cleanser, etc.). You can scan a QR code by the bed in your room to select the daily necessities you need, and a robot will deliver them to your room door. The Tmall Genie in the room is very smart, and the entire hotel uses a shared Wi-Fi with super-fast internet speed. I suggest replacing the three washing machines and three dryers in the laundry room directly with six washer-dryer combos. Number all six machines, and then, as it is now, guests could check the laundry status on their room TV. It would also be good to add doorbells and hangable 'do not disturb' signs outside the guest rooms. The hotel has six EV charging stations. Although they are all slow chargers, charging overnight doesn't affect travel the next day. If you're going to see a show at Daiwangfu, I personally recommend driving, as it's impossible to get a taxi in the ancient city after 11 PM. In that case, you can take bus #2 (Night 2) and get off at 'Bus Company 4' stop, then walk 5-8 minutes to the hotel. There's also a small farewell gift!"

"Five-star review | Mehao Hotel (Datong Ancient City Huayan Temple Branch) As two seniors traveling with our granddaughter to Datong, choosing the right hotel was crucial! Mehao Hotel truly excelled in making our stay thoughtful, comfortable, and convenient. Our entire experience was perfect, and I highly recommend it to families with children! **Excellent Location, Super Convenient for Exploring the Ancient City** The hotel is located right in the heart of the ancient city. It’s just a few minutes' walk to Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple, and it’s right next to the city wall. From the floor-to-ceiling windows in our room, we could enjoy the ancient city's night view. Stepping outside, we found cultural and creative shops and a snack street, making it super convenient for seniors and children to explore at their own pace. If you're driving, there's a spacious free parking lot, and it's easy to get to Yungang Grottoes and Hanging Temple. Full marks for transportation! **Brand New Smart Rooms, Clean, Comfortable, and Cozy** Opened in 2025, the rooms have no unpleasant new-decoration smell. With radiant floor heating throughout and smart controls (one-touch control for curtains, toilet, and lighting), it's high-tech and incredibly cozy. The bedding is soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing is excellent, ensuring a quiet night's sleep for both seniors and children. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, with stable water pressure and temperature. The attention to detail is truly impressive. **Exceptional Service, Warm as Family** The front desk staff were warm and thoughtful. Check-in was quick, and they even proactively helped with our luggage and recommended sightseeing routes. Their response throughout our stay was prompt; any request was met immediately, and the robot delivery service was incredibly convenient. Breakfast offered a rich variety, with freshly made snacks that were both comforting and delicious, enjoyed by both seniors and children. The public areas are clean and elegant, and the lobby lounge is comfortable, providing a relaxing space to rest after a day of sightseeing. **Complete Facilities, Super Family-Friendly** Free laundry room, gym, and EV charging stations are all available. This was a lifesaver with kids, especially with all their clothes, and charging our EV was super convenient. The thoughtful childcare service allowed adults to explore the sights worry-free. Overall, the hotel is stylish and sophisticated, with meticulous details and excellent value for money. It's definitely the top choice for accommodation in Datong Ancient City! We'll definitely stay here again on our next visit to Datong. I've already recommended it to friends. For family travel, this is absolutely the right choice—a five-star review, no regrets!"

"We booked two rooms for two nights, and my parents really liked the hotel. We wanted to extend our stay for another day, but unfortunately, it was already fully booked. The hotel is not far from the ancient city, and check-in was very comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and enthusiastic, and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious, including sliced noodles, lamb offal soup, and wontons, as well as Chinese and Western options – I really enjoyed it! The restaurant staff were also very diligent, clearing and cleaning tables quickly and thoroughly, paying great attention to detail! The room decor was simple yet elegant, featuring a smart toilet, and thoughtfully provided with disposable toilet seat covers (which deserves a huge thumbs-up), truly excelling in attention to detail! The mini-fridge was stocked with complimentary water and drinks, and the room also had complimentary Datong specialty snacks (dried apricots and almonds). The hairdryer also had strong airflow. We drove from the hotel to the Yungang Grottoes quickly using our navigation. In summary, this hotel offers great value for money. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Datong."

Hotel near Datong Fantawild Adventure/Wanda Plaza (Datong Shop),Datong
As a premium lifestyle brand under the Radisson Hotel Group, Radisson RED Datong is built around the poetic vision of a "Levitating Sanctuary in Timeless Harmony." The hotel masterfully fuses the architectural ingenuity of the Hanging Temple with the artistic soul of the Yungang Grottoes, creating a striking new landmark that blends profound cultural heritage with contemporary design. More than just a hotel opening, it stands as a modern expression of Northern Shanxi's culture—offering discerning travelers and trendsetters a curated stay that is truly storied, stylish, and sophisticated. Strategically located at 470 Xingping Street in Pingcheng District, the hotel sits right in the vibrant heart of the city with seamless transport links. It is just a 10-minute drive from Datong South Railway Station and approximately 25 minutes from Datong Yungang Airport. Surrounded by rich cultural treasures, the hotel is only a 15-minute drive from the Datong Ancient City area, including iconic sites like Huayan and Shanhua Temples, while the magnificent Yungang Grottoes are a convenient 30-minute drive away. To top it off, the property neighbors the Wanda Plaza commercial district, putting dining, shopping, and entertainment right at your doorstep—the perfect blend of historical exploration and urban relaxation.

"I drove my son to Beijing for university from Yinchuan, and we decided to stop in Hohhot and Datong along the way. Datong exceeded our expectations; we originally planned for two days but ended up staying five nights and six days. The city's rich history, profound heritage, and relaxing atmosphere were all delightful surprises that made us want to linger. Our stay at the Rezen Hotel was particularly an unexpected pleasure. The decor and design are generally unique, stylish, and very urban, with a black and red color scheme that exudes sophistication. The room facilities, including Toto bathroom fixtures and a Dyson hairdryer, were very comfortable. I particularly appreciated the thoughtful lighting design – at night, you don't need to turn on the main light to go to the restroom; the lights automatically sense your movement from the bed to the bathroom. We had also booked a room at the Yungang Grand Hotel, but after checking in here, we decisively canceled that reservation. This hotel has a limited number of rooms, making it a more niche option. I personally recommend it for younger travelers, and also for middle-aged guests who appreciate quiet and seek quality. If I ever come to Datong again, or find a Rezen Hotel in another city, I will definitely choose to stay there."

"I stayed at this hotel during my trip to Datong, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations; I had a very comfortable stay. The front desk staff, Xiao Zhao, was incredibly attentive and even offered fresh welcome fruits, making us feel very valued from the moment we checked in. The minibar was well-stocked with beer, Coke, and bottled water, which was a nice bonus. Our room on the 8th floor had excellent soundproofing, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The room also featured a large screen, and all the other amenities were new, making for a great experience. As someone from Suzhou, the humidifier in the room was a lifesaver, especially with the dry northern climate. It prevented me from waking up with a dry throat. We also happened to visit during a rainy day, and the hotel thoughtfully provided umbrellas in the room, which was incredibly convenient. Parking was also hassle-free for those driving, as the hotel has ample parking spaces. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit!"

"During the May Day holiday, hotel prices in Datong were really high. This area is a newly developed guesthouse street, full of guesthouses, and this is one of them. It's all under the supervision of Datong, and the government seems to be managing it quite well. Overall, this place is relatively clean and offers either airport or train station pickup/drop-off service. We woke up too late for breakfast, so we didn't get to experience it. They also offer electric scooter rentals, which is very convenient. The only hiccup was that the staff on duty wasn't clear about our scheduled train station drop-off time, but thankfully, another staff member handled it promptly. Thumbs up for that! So, if you need a drop-off service, make sure to double-check the times with them."
