The location offers direct access to Elephant Trunk Hill, Two Rivers and Four Lakes, and Sun and Moon Pagodas, while East West Alley and Zheng Yang Pedestrian Street are within walking distance. During the day, you can enjoy the scenic landscapes, and in the evening, explore the night market and slurp up some rice noodles. The itinerary was relaxed and unhurried. The room was simple yet sophisticated, with a great sense of design, perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring. A highlight was the 8th-floor infinity pool, surrounded by lush greenery, offering stunning views of the karst peaks – perfect for capturing amazing vacation photos! The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options, including both Chinese and Western dishes, and the freshly made Guilin rice noodle stand was incredibly authentic."

"I called ahead to order a custom home-style meal, so it was ready as soon as I arrived. The 'sauna chicken' was fantastic – they deboned the chicken to steam it and used the bones for soup. We couldn't finish it at lunch, so they kept it for us for dinner. The host even added me on WeChat to tell me when it would be reheated, so I had hot soup waiting when I got back that evening. Thank you, host! The little courtyard is very comfortable, and the twin room is actually two separate rooms, so we had plenty of privacy and slept really well. I'd love to come back and stay longer sometime."

Lijiang and Four Lakes is just a short walk away, and a stroll there in the evening to see the illuminated nightscape was especially pleasant. The hotel's swimming pool was great; after a tiring day of sightseeing, a dip in the water was incredibly relaxing. The room was spacious enough, and the cleanliness was impeccable. It was also quiet at night. The staff were very helpful and answered all our questions. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, and overall, it offers good value for money. It truly lives up to providing a 'deep sleep' experience. The hotel is located in a quiet spot amidst the hustle and bustle, with room windows facing the river behind, far from the noise of the road. The pillows offer just the right support and height; the duvet is light, breathable, yet warm enough; the air conditioning provides a gentle airflow that doesn't blow directly on you; the curtains are not only completely blackout but also have guide channels along the top and bottom edges to effectively prevent light leakage; and the backlight on the switch panels automatically turns off after the lights are out. When every single detail is so thoughtfully designed, you finally get to sleep in naturally at a hotel, and that's when you truly feel that rare sense of being at home."

"Among the two hotels I stayed at during my Guilin trip, Rong Lake Hotel was one of them. I chose this hotel after extensive online comparisons, as it seemed to offer good value for money and had just completed renovations, reopening in 2026. While researching, I learned it's a long-standing state guesthouse in Guilin, with a rich history. I stayed in the 'Rongyue Garden View Deluxe Twin Room'. Here are my honest impressions. Pros: The hotel is situated in the core scenic area of 'Two Rivers and Four Lakes', resembling a landscaped garden, offering a tranquil and peaceful environment away from the city's hustle and bustle. The back gate leads directly to the Rong Lake walking trail, making it easy to stroll along the lake in the evening. The Sun and Moon Pagodas and the ancient South Gate's night views are practically at your doorstep, and Elephant Trunk Hill isn't far either. Its location is truly irreplaceable. Check-in at the front desk was efficient, and the bellhop proactively helped with luggage. The guest rooms are equipped with smart control systems, and the hotel also offers Cantonese cuisine. The price for a standard room is reasonable. Cons: Perhaps due to Guilin's humid weather, there was a noticeable damp smell in the corridors. The moment I opened the room door upon check-in, a wave of dampness (I'm unsure if it also included a musty smell) hit me, and the bedding also felt damp (in contrast, the guesthouse I stayed at in Yangshuo didn't have this issue). The carpet in the room looked very old; I'm not sure if that's its original color or if old carpets were simply laid down. I genuinely recommend the hotel consider removing carpets, otherwise, the damp smell is simply too strong. Even though I used disposable sheets and duvet covers, the bedding still had a damp smell after a few days. The bathroom also lacked a ventilation system, and the shower room was separated from the rest of the bathroom by only a glass panel, allowing water to leak onto the bathroom floor after showering through the gaps in the glass. The ambiance and variety of the hotel's Cantonese restaurant were average. I originally planned to dine there in the evening; the front desk had given me a paper menu with breakfast on one side and either lunch or dinner on the other. When I went that evening, as soon as I reached for the paper menu on the table, the staff immediately took it away and insisted on ordering via tablet. The same dish on the tablet was more expensive than on the paper menu. When I asked the staff about the paper menu, they just took it away and told me to order from the tablet, without giving a clear explanation, so we didn't press further. Perhaps due to its state-owned enterprise nature, the overall service felt inferior to the guesthouse-style hotel we stayed at in Yangshuo. Furthermore, the hotel's soundproofing wasn't great. During my last two days, the neighboring rooms were fully occupied, likely by a family traveling together, with their doors wide open morning and evening and children running up and down the corridor. However, since it was only for the last two days, it wasn't a major issue. Overall Impression: The value for money is decent, and the hotel's interior environment is indeed impeccable and very pleasant; I saw people taking photos there every day. Since the price for a standard room isn't high, one can't expect too much. However, for a newly renovated (or rebuilt) hotel, there's still a certain discrepancy between the in-room hardware facilities and what was advertised."

"Excellent value! This is a newly opened hotel with spacious rooms and no unpleasant odors. You can enjoy both river and city views, which is truly fantastic. Breakfast is also included. The decor, well, let's just say the aesthetic is quite unique. The smart room controls are very convenient, and the curved window offers great views. It would be even better if there was a small coffee table or chair by the window! The ground floor houses the lobbies for two hotels. This particular hotel's front desk is just a small corner. The restaurant is currently shared by both hotels. I noticed a small garden and pool upstairs – I'm not sure if they belong to the hotel or if guests can use them. Breakfast was excellent and delicious! The rice noodles were particularly good. It's impressive that a hotel can make such great rice noodles! The service was also very good; I noted in my booking that I needed a toilet seat cover, and the housekeeping staff brought it to me after check-in."

"Had a fantastic stay! I really loved the large window in the room; it let in so much light and made for a very comfortable experience. The staff, including the friendly young ladies and gentlemen at the front desk and other team members, were all incredibly welcoming. It's about a 10-minute walk from Guilin Station, and major attractions aren't too far either. I didn't even bother with public transport; taxis were only a few bucks, which was super convenient! Highly recommend!"

The family room was spacious, with separate areas for play and rest, equipped with a small tent and play mat. Since we couldn't go out to play due to the rain, our child had a great time playing in the room. The hotel also has an indoor children's playground, which was perfect for letting the kids burn off energy on a rainy day without having to brave the outdoors. The breakfast offered a wide variety of mild options, suitable for children. The hotel environment was quiet and serene, not noisy at all. It was only about a ten-minute drive to city attractions like Elephant Trunk Hill and the Two Rivers and Four Lakes scenic area, and parking was convenient. For a family trip during the rainy season, staying here was stress-free and effortless. We would definitely choose to stay here again on our next visit to Guilin."
