Mangia’s Brucoli, Sicily, Autograph Collection

Really nice, and you have everything in the resort.

The positives: Majority of the staff are friendly and polite especially the hotel manager. The negatives: extremely incompetent, slow service at every restaurant. Day 1- We were suggested to go to the new Grill restaurant to which we did. It took 1.5 hours for a salad and pasta. Capacity: less than 40% at time of dining. Day 2 Dinner at the main restaurant. Brochure says it opens at 7 so we came at 7:22. “The manager” told us to come back later because he has no staff. No apologies not even offering is a seat or water. As we wait a couple of birds flew inside the restaurant flying and stepping on the rice bar. It took a couple of staff to drive the birds out of the restaurant. The food was left as is. Day 3 breakfast- food is cold, no food available at the egg section because the chef is alone and overworked. Capacity of restaurant was around 50% but all tables are dirty. Some plates have been removed but the woman wiping the table and putting the utensils is alone, tired and irritable. It took us 15 minutes to find a seat. Day 4 dinner at the Sicilian Bistro. Donna Floriana The Asian receptionist greeted us with no pleasantries but a very rude “do you have a reservation” we waited 20 minutes to be offered bread and water and when we asked to order 3 staff came every 5 minutes because they don’t speak English. There were 7 staff standing around with 9 tables occupied. The buildings are old, extremely small beware the photos are misleading. We booked a Sea view suite but we got a room by the walkway with no view of the sea and was very small. The BonVoy app does not work in this establishment. Over all a disappointing experience. A 3 star hotel posing as 5 star. Never again. Don’t waste your money.

We had an amazing time staying at this hotel and wish we could stay for longer. It's in a paradise setting overlooking the sea, all of the staff are lovely and helpful and the hotel has a nice, relaxed atmosphere. The pool and bar area overlooking the sea are delightful and perfect for drinks at sunset! We did some water sports, yoga, tennis, had a great shiatsu massage and a delicious fish lunch at the grill bar- all highlights. Some nice local restaurants in Brucoli too. Overall, a fantastic 4 days in Sicily and we hope to return. Thank you

As mentioned in the title, the hotel was just opened after renovations as part of Marriott‘s Autograph Collection. There are some minor challenges which is understandable after re-opening as an Autograph Collection Hotel. The property is located very quiet, for relaxing and enjoying the Sicilian sun a perfect pick. We had some starting issues, which were handled very professionally and we felt recognised all along. If you read the other reviews, you cannot make everyone happy but just bear in mind that they opened end of April and try their best to please their guests with the right mindset for a 5 star hotel. There is some way to go but I am sure they will make theirs. The rooms are beautifully designed with an interior which fits the Sicilian flair! When we were there, no issues with breakfast, no waiting times despite the hotel being near 90% occupancy. Let me tell you as an hospitality employee, give them a chance and be open. Thank you for accommodating us!

While the location of the resort is nice (remote, but peaceful), the execution is neither five-star, and certainly not Autograph Collection. This property is between a three to four star (probably three). For our trip, the best part was our rooms, as we received upgrades to suites; the physical space was larger than we needed but there was good natural light, the rooms seemed new, and the maid service was good. We did walk by the “standard” and “superior” rooms throughout the stay and they appeared to lack any real natural light other than tiny “Juliet”-type shutters that looked out onto the walking paths. It seems only the suites have any territorial or ocean views. The breakfast buffet was good, but the replenishment and availability of products was poor. They also have an annoying habit of moving where items are placed from day-to-day, so it is a bit of a scavenger hunt. They are woefully understaffed on the omelet/egg bar – the wait is very long, and any pre-made products are gone instantly. There seemed to be adequate staff for bussing, yet tables were routinely being cleaned by guests so they had a place to sit. You are getting your own coffee / drinks, don’t expect any table service in that regard. Although they have other restaurants noted, only two were open – so they become very crowded and redundant (as the menus are limited), making it essential to travel off property for variety. Property itself is lovely and pools are nice. However, the towel policy (towel cards, and only one towel per day, per card – no replacements) is ridiculous, particularly for a “Autograph” collection. I understand the idea of saving money on cleaning costs, but your room prices don’t match the service provided. We stayed at a number of places in Sicily, including small family-owned properties, and preferred them much more. The location and physical plant here is nice, but they are nowhere close to five-star Autograph, on any metric. Recommend skipping this place and finding other option(s).
