Pros and cons of the Hotel Holst: The Hotel Holst has many buildings and rooms. It used to be overcrowded, but not anymore since Corona. You only see and hear a few people. The thermal baths are unfortunately closed. To compensate for this, however, the price included the option of going to the nearby forest pool, which is really very nice. The breakfast was plentiful (we announced our wishes in the evening), but we didn't manage to eat everything and then took it with us for our forest tours or ate it in our room later. The rest of the hiking area (lots of horses, photogenic meadows, fields, primeval forests) is very relaxing. Overall, the a**osphere was very relaxed. So much for the good. What wasn't so good, however, and needs to be overhauled, is the following: 1. that you can clearly see that the hotel is old, the entire design and especially the furnishings. That is, in the old-fashioned style of the late 70s/early 80s and therefore not up to date (mainly dark brown tones, "Gelsenkirchen Baroque", much of it clunky), just the taste of today's old people and not adapted to the taste of today's young people. A combination of both would be more appropriate, more prudent. 2. the large green areas are obviously no longer maintained - you feel like you are in Sleeping Beauty's garden (with a beautiful pond), but nothing is maintained there anymore, everything is decaying, overgrown, and there is no longer any talk of a chess board. All of this needs to be overhauled. 3. what we really missed (in relation to the typical rooms in our hallway on the 1st floor) was a small fridge in the room for drinks and fruit, as well as a kettle! We brought our own as a precaution, we recommend it to everyone. 4. Other room details: the hairdryer was hopelessly outdated, almost museum-worthy. There is no shower lever control and the bathroom floor is very slippery. The old-fashioned tiles are not very attractive. Unfortunately, there is no bathroom cabinet either. A small safe in the closet (as is usual in hospitals, for example) would also be an advantage, so you don't have to leave your valuables at reception. Unfortunately, there is no beautiful bouquet of flowers in a vase in the room to welcome you, but there are 2 small bottles of water that cost around €2. Unfortunately, there is no coffee machine (or drinks machine) in the entire hotel, which is really missed since you only get breakfast. Otherwise, you have to get your food from the nearby Turkish snack bar, shop yourself in nearby Nenndorf (the village of Sieversen has neither a shop nor a supermarket, let alone a bakery), or go to the nearby Greek restaurant Costa. 5. The WiFi is too weak, too slow, needs to be upgraded. 6. The HD TV in our room was too small, especially for us older people who can't see very well anymore, even with glasses. A cheaper 45-inch TV would be better. That's it in a nutshell
