What can I say about this hotel other than it is magnificent. We stayed for our wedding and honeymoon with our two young daughters and I was a little concerned that it wouldn't be the right place for young children, however I was totally wrong. Every single member of staff went out of their way to speak to my children, entertain them and make us all welcome for the duration of our stay. I didn't get any names but the young man at breakfast who was particularly wonderful with them showing my daughter where she could find seashells as she's fascinated by them and letting them play with his water guns. They made pancakes for their breakfast every day and high-fived them all the time. The room has the most amazing view, was spotlessly cleaned all of the time even after 9 of us got ready for the wedding in there and it was left looking rather chaotic. The walk through the caves to the beach is stunning and the solarium is a lovely spot to swim and catch some sun. The restaurant food was sublime. My only slight issue was that we left early in the morning and had requested breakfast boxes twice before checking out but didn't get them, and the noise levels from weddings in the hotel late at night was problematic for us getting the girls to sleep or if we wanted an early night because we were up early the next day for a trip. I think that perhaps the area where events are held is very close to the guests rooms. My daughter cried when we left and has asked to be back at the ”holiday house” every night since. An absolute dream of a hotel and a huge thank you from us all.

The Good Friendly helpful staff and a warm welcome. Exceptionally clean Beautiful stunning views from the restaurant and the rooms across the bay of Naples Easy walk downhill (15 minutes) into the centre of town. (But beware - a taxi ride from the grand harbour is €25. And €20 from town) Private hotel access down to the small fishing harbour via hotel. The Ok Friendly service at breakfast. Good coffee. Nice fresh fruit. Nothing exceptional - would have been nice to have had some different beautiful Italian breads other than same little rolls and sliced (sweet) toasting bread every day. Also a change in the hot Buffett - mushrooms, quality sausages (not hot dogs) roasted Italian tomatoes. The bacon was often undercooked. Omelettes and fried eggs are available on request. We had dinner the first night and didn’t repeat the experience. We are well used to Michelin star dining and appreciate great Italian food. We didn’t find either here. There were lots of staff milling around who didn’t seem to know what they were doing ( they may have been new staff being trained). Lots of whispering going on and we felt uncomfortable. The food was presented well - small portions on big plates and we filled up with bread - we were hungry! Our room had a most amazing picture window and a comfy bed. It was fairly spacious and very clean. There was no comfort to be found in the room however and on the rainy days when we would have liked to retire to our room and read we would have had to lie in our bed. Not good. All the furniture in the hotel looks good but it is hard and angular. This is not a comfortable hotel. Even in the bar area the design is for aesthetics rather than comfort. One early (rainy) evening we attempted to order a bar meal but were told we could only have a snack as the chef was preparing dinner and was busy. The bartender said he could ask the chef if we wanted. We would have gone back to our room and ordered room service from a limited menu but there was nowhere to have eaten any food that might have been delivered. Therefore we went back into town. On the one and only sunny afternoon we decided to go to the beautiful swimming pool Tge water was too cold to swim in - nice at the height of summer but not the end of May. The beds were uncomfortable. Staff bought another couple who were sunbathing food and drink but never came to ask us if we’d like a drink. Very odd. So in summary - some really lovely points but overall we were disappointed. This is no way a 5 star hotel and we would not return or recommend.

We went here last May (not got round to writing up my reviews) we understood that in a just over a week of us leaving, it was going to be closed for think they said a month for refurbishment. I do not know how intense this refurbishment would be, but I think it did need quite an extensive one. There is not a lot they can do about its layout, for example in some respects it is a great location right at the end of the pedestrian street but then again this is also a busy road that it is situated at and so can be quite noisy if you are at the front over looking the road especially if you think we will sit out on our small balcony! The hospital is basically right next door so during the night you can be woken by sirens. Like I say this cant be done anything about because it is in Sorrento itself and there are supermarkets and a lot of the bus excursions pick up by a pull in bit at the hotel opposite and where you get dropped off and pick up from your airport transfer. So in some ways it is great location but in others not so great. Just to make you aware; depends what you want. It is a good 10-15 mins walk to the train station down the pedestrian street and then a bit further. Not good if like us you got off the train to discover effectively there is a huge thunderstorm happening and you get drenched in the process of walking back to the hotel. The food is very nice and well prepared and cooked. The only thing that we would critise is that if you are there for 2 weeks on half board then the menus for the evening meal are exactly the same on the second week as they are on the first week. You choose your meal at breakfast so it is cooked to order and there are a couple of choices per course. But if you do not like for example one of the courses then you know you are going to have exactly the same meal on the same night the second week! We did like the fact that if you ordered a bottle of wine that they would keep it for you with your room number on or even bottled water for the following evening or until you had drank it. The roof terrace with the jacquizzi (which is not heated by the way only with the sun if there is any!) is quite nice but has no bar so you either have to go down a floor to the bar or wait until the bar man comes up and asks if you would like a drink. There was a bit of an issue with water overflow seepage on the roof and this really needed dealing with on the refurbishment. The tvs were small flat screeen ones but not many channels. So in the evening as there was nothing going on at the hotel and no one really sat in the reception bar, then it was either sit in your unenspiring room watching nothing really on tv, read a book or just go out every night. The beds were not of the best quality or the bedding. The air conditioning wasnt on until after a certain date which is fine but then when it did come on, ours would drip so we had to put the bath mat on the floor as it was in front of the wardrobe area and as it is

This b&b is at the centre in all senses: It is certainly a little central as everyone in reality, but it offers the minimum you need, but perhaps as much as it costs you should offer more. It is near the hospital so if you have the room on the way the decibels are high while from inside you have little to see but at least there is silence and it's our choice and we were very good. There is no breakfast and it is a pity because with that price in other facilities it is planned. In this free water and coffee structure (in other facilities there is a positive note) it was a pity that the water heat for the/camomila did not work. The coffee machine was going to the great. Clean structure. The clean and ordered room. The bathroom also was the dressing of the accessories. Unfortunately, at the reception there was never anyone on the morning we were without toilet paper (I had to go out to buy the dressing). They gently allowed us to leave the baggage and pick it up later (it was not easy since there was no one and we had to wait for the cleaner woman to lose the train). I must say, however, that the owner was kind and willing to give information and suggestions, and if you are at the right price you can advise.

Our hotel experience probably illustrates the point that different hotels suit different people as everyone has their own things that matter to them. We didn’t mind the fact that the hotel was out of the town centre and therefore up a steep hill. We used the courtesy bus or walked. The trade off was that the hotel was lovely and quiet (no piped music in the restaurant either) and the views were spectacular. Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff very friendly. What let the hotel down for us was the food. As other reviewers have said, it was not always hot enough. In addition, there was not enough of it, although on one occasion I did ask for more potatoes and vegetables and was given them. But each day there was only one vegetable on offer. One day it was cauliflower, another day it was red pepper, another day broccoli etc. In an attempt to increase her vegetable intake one of our party ordered grilled vegetables and cheese which was offered as a main course. Unfortunately it was served cold (the menu did not say it was a salad) which was something of a surprise. This is the only hotel holiday I have ever had where I lost weight! (I’m female, 5’10” and 9 and a half stone, so not overweight. I wouldn’t say I eat huge amounts). If the food issue could be addressed I would give this hotel an excellent rating.

We are just home from an absolutely wonderful 4 nights with you. We were there 15 years ago for our honeymoon and this time for our 15th wedding anniversary and the place is still so special and fantastic. It has been kept up to date and still to such a high standard. The room was perfect and so clean (623), the food was so delicious and the staff in the restaurant and the bar was so friendly (especially Luigi). We will definitely celebrate a special occasion with you again, we will never tire of Sorrento of the Grand hotel Capodimonte. Thank you.

Hotel breakfast is good, equivalent to the star hotel level, save the hotel method: from the pier, then take a 1 euro lift, reach the above city (photo 1), then walk 8 minutes through the small square to reach the Grand Plaza (with flags , photo 2), then take the main street (walking path, photo 3), various shops on both sides, you can buy drinks in the fries shop of photo 4, and take a rest on the chair opposite the church door (photo 5) (also Take a drink at the roadside bar), then continue on, go down the slope on the side of the hospital (square), turn left at 50 meters, walk for 7 minutes, reach the road junction where you can drive, then Turn right and walk 100 meters across the road (passing an uphill parking lot) and you are at the hotel.

Being a hotel manager myself, the hotel is not up to a 4 star level. Starting from the positives, the hotel is on a great central location, very close to the beach, the marinas, all restaurants-shops & train bus stations. The reception team was lovely & the receptionist who checked us in (Terry) was very nice & provided us with the info needed (breakfast times, wifi code etc). The reception lobby was nice. The room was a double standard but very noisy as it was facing the street, the balcony was a Juliette balcony so you cannot use it to sit etc, the shower was the tiny & old,the minibar did not work at all (was not cooling) & when reported to the reception they did not offer to look at it.no iron or ironing board in the room, when we asked for it, we were told to pick it up from the reception and the iron had limescale on it so it was not usable (could stain our clothes. The cleaninless of the room was fair, however I could see that the floor was not hoovered or mopped during our stay. The breakfast was nice and had some traditional items, the service was good but many items were finished by 9:30 and were not replenished as the breakfast was ending at 10am. This is not right, the breakfast buffet must have enough offering until closing time. Also it is served indoors so for those who want a breakfast view, it’s not ideal. The pool was small but clean. The hotel amenities, service, offering & status of rooms reflect to a 3 star hotel and the price per night (€200 approx) is quite high for this type of hotel.

Hotel Rivage’s location is literally a couple of minutes away from the main streets of Sorrento. Not only a great location but well presented and maintained property. Rooms are large, clean and very comfortable with plenty of storage as well
