The moment I walked in, I felt completely at ease. The room decor was cozy and clean, and the bedding was soft, making it incredibly relaxing to lie down after a busy day.\n The biggest surprise at the guesthouse was the array of small animals in the courtyard. There were groups of adorable cats, each with its own charm, who would actively come over to rub against you and ask for pets. There was also a well-behaved, affectionate dog. Sitting in the courtyard, petting the cats and playing with the dog, while looking out at the mountains and water, instantly calmed all my worries.\n The owner was thoughtful and attentive, even sharing tips on which West Street eateries to avoid. The hygiene was excellent, with absolutely no pet odors. This healing little courtyard is perfect for a getaway. I've already recommended it to friends, and I'll definitely stay here again when I return to Yangshuo!”,”I found a heavenly guesthouse on Yangshuo West Street! ✨\nThe environment is so comfy I didn't want to leave, the courtyard is pure healing!\nLoads of soft, cuddly cats to pet, plus a super well-behaved dog for company.\nComing back from West Street to pet the furbabies just boosts my travel happiness to max!\nRoom is clean and tidy, owner is warm and caring, location is perfect.\nA must-stay for animal lovers, you can't go wrong here!”,”Five-star rating! Guest UserThis guesthouse, or 'minsu' as they call it, actually surpasses many mid-to-low tier chain hotels. They offer free breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening desserts, and while the selection isn't huge, it's pretty decent. The laundry room is incredibly well-equipped; there are two of them on-site with plenty of washing machines and dryers, which is super convenient for long trips. The only minor inconvenience was the lack of a brush in the laundry sink. They've also thought of many thoughtful little details, like bags for clothes, disposable and regular slippers, conditioner in the bathroom, earplugs, unlimited bottled water, and even a tip in the room advising guests that they can hang clothes near the air vent. The hotel also sends daily WeChat reminders about meal times and asks if I want my room cleaned (though this is standard for chain hotels, I've stayed in guesthouses that don't clean your room during extended stays). All in all, it's better than many big-name hotels; I even asked the front desk if it was a chain hotel! The only slight downside might be that they don't offer a shuttle service in Yangshuo city, but taxis are very convenient and quite affordable. There's also a place to see lotus flowers nearby, but the water level was high these past two days, so I couldn't enjoy that.

Guest UserHidden deep within the Ten-Mile Gallery, this hotel completely isolates itself from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. The sense of escapism, in my opinion, is almost comparable to the Lux* Chongzuo, making for a truly satisfying vacation. As a well-established luxury brand originating from Indonesia, it's impressive how it has rooted itself amidst the natural beauty of Yangshuo while still deeply preserving its Indonesian heritage. For instance, the breakfast features an Indonesian-style set menu, all freshly prepared à la carte. The guest room walls are adorned with traditional Balinese Ubud Batik wax paintings. During turndown service at night, candles are lit to warm aromatic essential oils, replicating the local Balinese pre-sleep ritual. The pool is paved with unique Indonesian stone, appearing grey when dry but revealing a beautiful blue-green hue when submerged in water.
The hotel's service and quality are exceptional: the butler's WhatsApp replies were prompt, and despite the high greenery coverage, I wasn't bitten by a single mosquito during my two-day stay, indicating excellent pest control. The 450 sqm single-bedroom standalone villa is spacious, and the private pool is ample in both size and depth. Amenities include Cha Ling toiletries, a brand under LV, and the rooms are equipped with Bose speakers and Laifen hair dryers, ensuring top-notch hardware. It's rare for a hotel to maintain its original quality and standards after many years of operation, unlike many domestic hotels that gradually cut costs and downgrade after just a year or two. If you're looking for an immersive escape into nature in Yangshuo, I truly believe this place is worth a special trip. At the very least, if I get another chance to visit Yangshuo, this will still be my go-to resort for a second stay.

SukiEscape the City Bustle | A Century-Old Guesthouse
This time, I chose a really unique guesthouse. The cottage, with its mud walls and blue tiles, has so much character! This guesthouse, transformed from a 150-year-old house, is nestled halfway up the mountains in Yangshuo's Golden Orange countryside. Open the window, and you're greeted with a view of karst peaks, like a traditional Chinese ink painting.
The guesthouse features rare Guangxi-style rammed earth architecture. The century-old walls blend beautifully with modern design aesthetics, and the designer is quite renowned; every corner tells a story. There's a panoramic terrace on the mountain where you can watch both sunrise and sunset. We received personalized butler service upon arrival, and they kindly helped with our luggage, making for a warm and thoughtful experience.
We stayed in a family room, which was decorated with a serene Zen aesthetic – clean and comfortable. The furniture was exquisite, and even the bedside speaker was a premium brand. Lying in bed at night, you can gaze at the stars, with mountain breezes carrying the scent of grass and trees. It’s truly healing and relaxing 🌙.
Tips for Kids & Family Fun:
You can pet cats in the courtyard, and there's a hiking trail behind the mountain. On a clear day, you can chase the sunset. The yard is adorned with persimmons, giving it a festive, New Year's feel. In this century-old home, slow down and enjoy the mountains and wind with your children.
Nearby Attractions (self-driven and personally tested):
**A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains (Qianli Jiangshan Tu)** | 5-minute drive
This is a real-life panoramic scroll of ink-wash landscapes. Both sunrise and sunset are perfect for photos. Light-colored outfits look stunning for traditional Chinese-style photos.
**Qixianfeng Tea Plantation** | 25-minute drive
The mountains are covered in lush green tea trees. Bring your kids to experience tea picking and making, then sip on freshly picked green tea – a fantastic educational and bonding experience for the family.
**Farm Golden Orange Picking** | 15-minute drive
Orchards abound near Qianli Jiangshan Tu. At 15 yuan per jin (approx. 0.5 kg), it's an immersive rural experience with a bountiful harvest.
**West Street Snacks** | 10-minute drive
Ai Ye Ba (mugwort cakes) and Osmanthus Cakes are sweet and soft. The bamboo tube chicken is a must-try; the chicken soup is fresh and rich, with a natural bamboo fragrance. Perfect for a leisurely food tour.

Guest UserSugar House was one of the highlights of our trip to China. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had chosen somewhere special.
The hotel is beautifully designed, blending contemporary luxury with its historic surroundings in a way that feels both unique and peaceful. Our room was spacious, stylish and extremely comfortable, with stunning views over the karst landscape. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring Yangshuo.
The food was outstanding throughout our stay. Breakfast offered a great selection of both Chinese and Western options, and every meal we had at the hotel restaurant was beautifully prepared using excellent local ingredients. Everything was consistently excellent and a real highlight of our stay.
What really elevated our experience, however, was the exceptional service. Every member of staff was warm, welcoming and genuinely eager to help. They assisted us in arranging transport and offered excellent recommendations for exploring the surrounding area, making everything effortless.
The location was perfect for us—peaceful and secluded, yet within easy reach of Yangshuo’s incredible scenery. We spent the day rafting on the Yulong River, visiting Fuli Bridge, Moon Hill and Xingping, before returning to relax by the beautiful riverside pool each evening. It was the ideal balance of adventure and tranquillity.
Sugar House is much more than a luxury hotel; it is a destination in its own right. We left wishing we had booked an extra night and would not hesitate to return. It is a truly exceptional place that we will remember for a very long time.

This time, I stayed in a suite villa with four kids, and the overall experience was perfect! The room was spacious and comfortable, and all the facilities were well-equipped and easy to use, making for a very pleasant stay. The local weather was hot, but the hotel breakfast had a rich variety of options, satisfying the different tastes of our whole family.
I must give a special shout-out to our butler, Teresa. Her service was thoughtful and attentive; she was available 24/7 and always put the guests' needs first. During our stay, she proactively greeted us every day, took great care of the children, and even came to see us off at checkout. Her meticulous care throughout made us feel incredibly warm.
The hotel's overall atmosphere was comfortable, and it's an excellent choice for families traveling with children. We had no complaints whatsoever throughout our entire stay. Next time we have the chance, I will definitely bring my parents back for a vacation. I sincerely recommend it to anyone planning to visit Yangshuo!

Guest UserFor first-time visitors to Yangshuo, staying on West Street is an absolute must! It's incredibly convenient and I didn't find it noisy at all. Definitely rent an electric scooter from your hotel; it's cheaper. While there are many places to rent scooters outside, the prices vary. This hotel offers great value for money. There's a small kids' play area on the ground floor, and even though it's not huge, my little one loved it and had to play there every day before heading out and after coming back.

A5ting5ting5The three-meter floor-to-ceiling windows were a major draw, offering stunning views of the Li River outside. The 'Sky Mirror' on the top floor is absolutely beautiful and a must-visit for photos! Our suite had a dedicated lounge area, perfect for tea, chatting, playing mahjong, or watching movies. We checked in in the afternoon and the hotel thoughtfully provided afternoon tea. The suite itself was fully equipped, even with a bathtub for relaxing. The breakfast, served buffet-style until 10 AM, was rich and varied. The hotel also boasts an outdoor pool, a gym, a kids' club, and a fully equipped laundry room. It's very close to West Street, making it super convenient to rent an electric scooter and explore West Street or other attractions!

This hotel may seem unassuming, but it surprisingly features a small pool and a viewing platform with great views of the surroundings. The platform even has a cute setup perfect for taking photos. The breakfast buffet was quite generous, and the first-floor restaurant offered a complimentary late-night dessert buffet. We stayed in a family room with a 1.5m single bed and a 1.8m double bed, and it was decorated very warmly. You can rent electric scooters for 30 or 40 yuan per day, just return them before 11 PM. The staff, from the front desk to the cleaning ladies, were all very enthusiastic, patient, and thoughtful.
