Choosing the Past & Present Hotel for my Yangshuo trip was absolutely the right decision! It's right by the Yulong River, so when you open the window, you're greeted by mountains and flowing water, with bamboo rafts drifting past – it's like living inside a traditional Chinese ink painting. The room was clean and comfortable, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering an incredible view. The bedding was soft, the toiletries smelled lovely, and the Dyson hairdryer was a definite plus. The housekeeper was attentive and always available when needed, without being intrusive. The breakfast was varied and delicious, especially the Guilin rice noodles. In the evening, they even offer a complimentary sweet soup. The infinity pool and large lawn are perfect for photos. The location is both quiet and convenient, with free parking. My entire stay was relaxing and rejuvenating. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Yangshuo. Highly recommend!

The hotel as a whole was quiet and peaceful, with good soundproofing, allowing for excellent rest. The decor was simple yet elegant, and the public areas were clean and tidy. The location was also convenient, making travel and dining very easy. Housekeeping service was thorough, with great attention to detail – nothing felt rushed or neglected. The late-night snacks and breakfast were delicious too! The deer and horses were incredibly cute, and the hotel was super photogenic everywhere you looked, producing stunning photos straight from the camera. And the view from the window? Absolutely breathtaking!

Service: I communicated with the hotel in advance that my partner and I would be staying, and we were pleasantly surprised to find our room simply decorated with a complimentary small cake! All hotel services are handled via a WeChat group. Upon check-in, they send breakfast and drink menus. The butler was very responsive to messages in the WeChat group, but the complimentary bicycle rental was never mentioned. Dining: Breakfast is à la carte, and the presentation is exquisite. However, the taste was just so-so. The beef brisket noodle soup had very hard noodles, and the Spanish omelet was quite greasy. The biggest issue was that some breakfast dishes took an excessively long time to be served. The afternoon tea offers some paid snacks that tasted good. We also set aside one evening to dine at the hotel. The crispy farm duck and stir-fried cured meat with fresh bamboo shoots were delicious, but I wouldn't recommend the black pepper short ribs! The late-night snack also included two soups (one sweet, one savory) and a fruit platter. Cleanliness: On our first night, while getting ready, we found a long hair that didn't belong to us on the showerhead. For a hotel in this price range, that's really unacceptable, and I hope they pay more attention to this in the future!

Our overall experience was fantastic, perfect for families with kids. The guesthouse is nestled in a serene valley, and our room featured 270-degree panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows. Drawing back the curtains revealed a stunning vista of rolling karst mountains, often shrouded in a picturesque mist. The rooftop boasts a reflective pool, offering a beautiful photo opportunity with the mountain and sky reflected like a painting. We even received a complimentary travel photography session during our stay. The property also has an outdoor swimming pool and an incredibly spacious 300-square-meter indoor kids' play area with a wide variety of activities, ensuring children can have fun even on rainy days. The adjacent wilderness guesthouse is just a short walk away, offering several scenic viewpoints along the path. The environment is quiet and tranquil, far from the bustling city crowds. The staff provided attentive and thoughtful service, making this an excellent choice for a family getaway.

The hygiene was excellent; even the tiles in the hallway were spotless, and the public areas were very clean, with staff cleaning early in the morning. The overall environment was quite good, nestled against the mountains, offering a serene atmosphere. However, the appearance of the residential houses outside the hotel somewhat lowered the overall standard. What I most want to complain about is the service. When we checked in, we were told the highest floor wasn't ready yet, so we went out. No one informed us when the room was ready, so we ended up staying on a lower floor when we returned. A butler contacted us in advance to inquire about our itinerary, offer suggestions, and claim they had discounted tickets for performances. However, after checking prices through other channels, we found theirs to be more expensive and politely declined. The butler then became passive-aggressive, which was very uncomfortable. The next morning, the rice noodle stall at breakfast was utterly chaotic; whoever showed up got the noodles. The breakfast greetings also felt abrupt and robotic; it would be better to just cancel them. Regarding the cormorant show in the morning, animal performances are already a sensitive topic, and the staff treated the animals very roughly, grabbing them by the neck and throwing them. With so many children watching, whose concepts and behaviors are still developing, this could easily lead them to imitate such actions and be misguided. The large lawn had various facilities and activities, including individual rooms with TVs to watch the World Cup, which was a highlight. The main downside is the remote location and poor transportation facilities, making it inconvenient to go anywhere for dining or sightseeing.

We brought our kids to Yangshuo for a holiday, and the window view at this hotel completely cured my soul! Downstairs, there's an outdoor pool and a fun kids' playground, keeping the little ones happy splashing around all day long. The dining experience was incredibly thoughtful. They offer a rich buffet breakfast, exquisite afternoon tea, and even comforting late-night noodles. It's a one-stop solution for food and accommodation when traveling with kids.

This guesthouse completely exceeded our expectations; it's practically built to star-hotel standards! We were so surprised and delighted. From the booking process to check-in, and even having the air conditioning already on in our room, everything demonstrated incredibly thoughtful service. The dining was a major highlight! We initially thought we'd have to go to a farm restaurant for the same old dishes (beer fish and bamboo rice), but the hotel restaurant's food was excellent. Our kids loved it too, so we ended up eating lunch and dinner at the hotel. The staff were warm, attentive, and had fantastic attitudes! We really hope to visit Yangshuo again and stay at your Wa Pan Yin She next time. 👍👍👍 Our kids and family were very happy and enjoyed our stay immensely!

🏔️😱 Don’t know how it was possible, but this hotel was even more beautiful in real life than the photos. Built inside a renovated historic sugar factory, Yangshuo Sugar House combines the refined aesthetics of the mountain landscape with historical architectural elegance. ✨ 🚙🌾 The hotel offers various free and at-cost activities you can book through their concierge. We wanted to go see the Longji Rice Steps during our stay, which is about an 2.5 hour drive away from Yangshuo by car. I messaged the hotel the day before we arrived and they were able to arrange a private driver to take us there and back over an 8 hour trip. Mr. Qin was amazing and very kind! He took us directly to buy the tickets and then drove us to the entrance point of the cable car. There was pretty extreme rain on the way back and he got us down the mountain very efficiently. It was an extremely memorable day which was only made possible by the hotel’s extraordinary attentive drivers and diligent concierge staff. ⭐️ 🍴The room comes with a daily buffet breakfast, free soft drinks, and fruit. The hotel restaurant is good, but breakfast is really where the food shines. So many delicious options to choose from, and there was adorable panda shaped buns 🐼 📸 The hotel also offers free travel photography on the premises, which takes about 30~ minutes and you receive 5 free photos, with additional available to purchase at 50 yuan. It was fun and very efficient! 🌸 Overall, a major highlight of our China trip & we wish we had stayed longer. Thank you again!

It uses a simple yet elegant combination of natural wood and stone, with ample use of open space and light.
