Good first impressions - well put together hotel with great amenities and nice staff. First evening I ordered room service - It took over 1hour 15 minutes to arrive, and that's after I went to ask at the reception. Also the room door wouldn't shut properly - it was still open when it seemingly had clunked shut - but this was dealt with swiftly, thank you. First shower I had - oh dear - it has a head with one narrow spray (not like a regular/ normal round or rectangular one) that fires at you almost horizontally and in a narrow clump (irritating and impractical) - so even when you try and slow the pressure, it still goes to the back of the bath, over the bath end, and swamps the bathroom - firstly you simply cannot shower with such a dumb 'design student' reject style shower head, and secondly you'll spend several minutes after finishing having a shower, using up all the towels to mop the bathroom floor, and leave them in a giant wet mess, only to start smelling during the night - terrific (not) ! The last time I experienced a shower head that went only horizontal over the back of the bath, was a (very good, apart from this,) two star hotel in Morocco - but even that one had a regular round head (so you could actually wash properly/ normally under it), not a single tiny narrow head like at this hotel. The room I had was the cheapest, and apart from not having an opening window (I know this is kind of standard these days, so I'm not bothered), it was a well appointed comfortable room and even had a side view of the Med, which was great. People will always come to this hotel because of its awesome location, including a roof terrace ..commanding some of the best full vantage points in Tarragona (and many other reasons), but I hope the complacency of them knowing this, doesn't hold them back from considering customers' improvements / suggestions. I had pasta carbonara for dinner the 2nd night - a few tubes of pasta in a thin limp sauce, with some almost microscopic strands of ham (seemed like a microwave job) - no bread with it, no salad, very very unsatisfactory it was ..I was still hungry, so I ordered a small pizza, which was ok, but seemed like a basic supermarket one (it wasn't good), and it took a long time to arrive. The rooftop pool, they call a 'plunge pool', but this is underselling it - I did lots of lengths in it, it's maybe 4ft deep .. it's great. The lower pool is also nice and is much bigger and deeper. The day I left, the fire alarm went off at about 7am - A bit annoying. Some people started to leave the building and some probably didn't. This is overall a very good hotel, and I was really impressed. I liked the staff on reception, the breakfast staff and the rooftop bar/ restaurant staff - they were all very friendly and very efficient - This is especially nice when you're by yourself. Tarragona is great and swimming in the sea was wonderful too.

Hotel Lauria

We have been visiting Tarragona frequently, sometimes twice a year, since 2005. We have stayed at the Hotel Lauria every time from 2006, because it has always been so comfortable and friendly. The Lauria could not be in a better location, with easy access to the shops, and to many Roman sites such as the amphitheatre and the Forum. The new theatre is directly opposite on the other side of the Rambla Nova. The program of refurbishment has been proceeding for a few years now, and must be close to completion. The upgrades to the rooms and public areas are excellent. We were unable to have our usual room this time, but, thanks to our long-serving friend, José, in Reception, we had a super room with a sea view, overlooking the recently refurbished pool. The buffet breakfast is, as usual, well-stocked and frequently overseen by another long-serving friend, Juan. The new coffee machine is great, once you work out how to get the best out of it. Manager Eloy is friendly & helpful as ever, as are all the other Reception and cleaning staff. This was the first time we had managed to get to Tarragona for the spectacular Easter parade. This is a ”must see” event that we strongly recommend.
AC Hotel Tarragona

The rooms are tiny. Paper thin walls. No bathroom door. Just a swinging glass door. Anything that happens in the bathroom is heard throughout the room. No in room coffee. If you are used to AC Marriott levels of service you will be disappointed here. We booked a family room for our family of three. We requested a higher level floor corner with a view. We received confirmation that the hotel would do everything they could to accommodate our request. The room they gave us was interior with a view of a brick wall and it was so small the three of us could barely stand at the same time, and no place to sit just on the bed. When I asked about them accommodating our request they told me that the people that respond to specific requests have no idea what types of rooms are available in the hotel. The reception staff was friendly yet very novice and did not understand the concept of taking care of the guest. I requested ice to take to our room and 15 minutes later, while waiting in the lobby, I received a little bucket with eight cubes of ice and was told the charge would be one euro for the ice. There was no manager on duty. Reception staff told me that this Hotel is for individual business travelers, not families. This is true. We had to purchase an additional room at full price to accommodate our son. The family room is not large enough to accommodate three people comfortably. We will not be staying here again and will be very hesitant about booking accommodations with AC Marriott again…

This is quite an innovative place, or at least it seems that way to me. The host, Xavi is a very good multi linguistic chappy and has created this place almost by himself. The rooms are super clean as is the entire building. There is a communal table and chairs downstairs and you can keep your food in a communal fridge, just mark it with your room number. It’s quite central, easy to get to and from anywhere from here in this busking and vibrant micro-city from here. Highly recommended, great value for money. Very deserving of its rating as 3rd best hotel in Tarragona.

The rooms are clean and we heard very little of the neighbours. The room was not very big and had no terrass. It is understandable that the rooftop pool and bar were closed (because of the ongoing pandemic), but there had been no information about this on the website. The breakfast was not what one might expect from a 4-star hotel: we got a tray each with a small bowl of fruit, some bread, croissant and a yoghurt. They really served only the bare minimum, but they had not reduced the price. We were very disappointed. I would not go back and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone either.

I stayed here in May 23 for 5 nights at 24 pounds per night..what a bargain. First the good bits.. it’s very close to all the old historical sights, and is a minutes walk from the circa Roma. The budget hotel is in the midst of a lovely square with lots of bars and restaurants, so if your room is facing the square it could be noisy. It is a 20 min walk for the bus station and is uphill. I stayed in a single room no 13., which although small was fine. For those of a bigger size this may not suit you as the shower area is quite small. The room does not have a tv, which I knew when I booked it up. The cleaners come in at around 08:30-09:00 and there is a lot of noise created, so if you don’t sleep well then this may not be the place for you. I could hear a lot of noise from other people in the place… but it’s a budget hotel, so my advice would be to have a couple of drinks before going to bed and wake up at a reasonable time before the cleaners come in. I did not use the automated check in as the front door was open, and there was a lady waiting to check me in at 2pm. I got a card key and the combination for the outside door and that worked fine for my 5 nights. A cleaner came in to do my room every day which was fine. Although the room could be noisy from other guests, I would certainly stay here again.. after all all you really do is sleep and get changed ready to go out,
