We have been waiting for Vida to open and the wait was worth it! We have spent a fair amount of time on Grand Cayman over the years but have found Seven Mile Beach is just getting too frantic. Vida is located about 20 minutes from the airport out in West Bay next to Barker's National Park. It's not like a National Park in the US, but it is a large piece of property with lots of activities. Also, Vida is "almost" across the street from Pappagallo's Italian Restaurant. Vida is brand new construction and appears to have maybe 20-25 rooms, a small health-oriented restaurant and lots of wellness classes. Note, they are not open for dinner yet or have their liquor license, but it appears to only be a few days away. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh, with lots of local flavors. Although not directly on the beach, it is just a short walk on a path down to the water. The outside area had a sleek pool and hot tub in addition to an area to just lay in about 4" of water. The landscaping just seemed to envelop you with wonderful island charm and of course there’s a hammock. The staff was incredibly starting at the top with the manger Natalia and right down through everyone on the staff. The room was large with a kitchenette and slider out to a huge balcony. The furniture was sleek and in keeping with the minimalist vibe. We loved the artwork over the bed and in the hotel in general! A taste of old Cayman, away from it all. I think the attached photo of horses riding past the front of the property speaks to that. The old and the new, relaxing, wellness all combine to make Vida an ideal place to stay!
