Everything is good..the room is clean and comfortable, the view is beautiful. The beach is behind the resort. Only the elevator had a big problem. It was too slow, and we waited 20 minutes but still couldn't go down. Full of people. We had to use the stairs to go down to the 15th floor.
Fantastic experience! I hesitated a lot before booking, but I'm so glad I made the right choice. It's an established five-star hotel with excellent service and a rich variety of breakfast options. The best part is the swimming pool – storage, showers, bath, and sauna are all available, and the pool water is very clean. Our room had no strange smells, though we didn't spend much time there apart from sleeping. All the great food spots are within walking distance, and taxis can easily find the location. The front desk staff can communicate perfectly in Mandarin. Highly recommended!
This hotel is new so all the guest rooms are well appointed and fitted. There is access to a private beach , however it is small . If you know your way around you can actually walk from the main road to the public stretch of Tanjung Bungah beach which is a much nicer beachfront. Each room has a balcony, with sea view , a plus at such location. The carpark is free at the moment , however , due to low ceiling room and many pillars , it becomes hard for bigger cars to park. The pool was very busy when I was there so I didn’t get to enjoy the pool area. There is a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner so it is good that you don’t have to go out to find food. I would think the staff services are a hit and miss , some are friendly and professional , some of them really do need training. I notice is there is only one counter open during checkout time which had to cater for both check in and checkout , this causes a queue . Overall, I love the comfortable rooms and bed, however the front office counter staff needs training.
View from the apartment was amazing and just need to look through the window and you see the blue sky and ocean. Just that the apartment they gave us has 3 rooms and if you book 2 rooms they will locked up the one of the room. The issue is that when we checked in they just let the 3rd room open and we thought we could used it until the security guard came and knock the door and said he has to lock up one of the rooms.
Right from the moment we arrived, we were greeted by very enthusiastic bellboys and front desk staff, which made us feel right at home. 👍🏼 The adorable welcome ice cream was a particularly nice touch. We chose this hotel mainly to shop at the nearby Gurney Plaza, but it turned out not to be great for shopping. The locals basically warned us to avoid the food court outside, and since we didn't want to eat mall food, we even took a taxi back to George Town for dinner that day. So, I don't think the location is ideal, especially since the hotel is no longer beachfront after the land reclamation, and the view is much worse than before. Points deducted for a few things: the bathroom faucet was very stiff and hard to turn, the tissues weren't refilled beforehand, and the corners of the vanity weren't cleaned properly.
Front desk is very friendly, the check in is fast and smooth. They also offer us 2 welcome drinks at the lobby lounge.
A Rm 100 deposit is required and will be return upon check out.
Room is spacious, but the lighting a little dark, I prefer brighter room.
City area, easy to get a grab, very convenient with a pharmacy nearby and also Starbucks.
It was the last hotel at the end of a two week trip in Malaysia. I chose it seeing it was closer to the airport.
It was perfect! A spacious room in a boutique hotel, and some pampering and rest before a long flight home.
Positives:
- Pool, was cool and busy.
- Complimentary drinks, were appreciated.
- Spacious room and bathroom.
- Loved the ‘Say No to Plastic’ environmental initiatives.
- Cafe space, food was tasty and reasonably priced.
- Staff were friendly and efficient.
- Convenient Store down stairs for snack and drinks.
- I asked for an extra hour for check out.
It’s in a residential area, next to a busy road. So it’s not a place to explore the local area and a GRAB is needed to get around.
However, a perfect STAY for the last day of holidays and it’s closer to the airport.
Location: Situated right by Gurney Bay, it's about a 10-15 minute walk to Gurney Plaza, or a 5-6 MYR taxi ride. Getting to the old town costs around 7 MYR by taxi. There are plenty of dining options nearby, and a small mall next door with a mini-supermarket and restaurants. You can cross the road to the beachfront for a walk or a run.
Facilities: The room was quite spacious with a great sea view, and the bedding was very comfortable. The bathroom was also huge with a separate wet and dry area. Bottled water isn't provided, but there's a purified water tap. The swimming pool is fantastic with lovely views.
Service: I was particularly impressed by a young lady and a young man at the front desk who both spoke Chinese and provided incredibly gentle and thoughtful service. They even helped us solve an awkward problem. The security guard at the entrance was also super enthusiastic, helping with luggage and always greeting us warmly. The restaurant is spacious, and breakfast offers a wide variety. The young man who makes the noodle soup, who also speaks Chinese, had an absolutely wonderful attitude.
Cleanliness: Everything was thoroughly cleaned, with no hidden spots or strange odors found anywhere.
This was the most satisfying hotel of our entire trip.
Paying the deposit was a hassle. Hong Kong banks can't directly transfer, and WeChat Pay, which is required, isn't usable in Hong Kong. I ended up having to ask a friend in mainland China to pay it. To make matters worse, they can't refund it to the original WeChat account, insisting on sending it to a Hong Kong bank account instead. The only upside was that it was refunded to my HK account on the day of check-out.
Getting the key was an adventure; I had to go down a flight of stairs to the parking lot mailbox, which felt a bit spooky. Luckily, it was still near dusk, so it wasn't too dark.
The two TVs could be turned on but didn't receive any channels. In both rooms, we had to set the AC to 16 degrees and use a fan to get it cool enough. The living room, even with a fan, remained quite warm. The bathroom shower was only an overhead one, and controlling the hot and cold water was tricky. Thankfully, the water pressure was good. The drain was a bit slow, almost clogged, and one of the sinks wouldn't drain at all. Good thing there were two sinks.
The floor looked a bit dirty, and overall, the facilities seemed poorly maintained. I hope they improve the equipment.
The only positives were the excellent view from the window, perfect for sunrises and sunsets! There are plenty of restaurants downstairs and three convenience stores. Transportation is convenient, with Grab rides costing 10-15 MYR to places like Mural Street and the night market, and about 30 MYR to farther attractions like Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si Temple.
