First of all the hotel rented out the rooms for individual operator.
So there will be different check in counter.
Upon check in, been told that the room card not functioning as they are doing upgrading, so every time u come back will need to call the house keeping to unlock the door.
Most importantly they charge RM 17 per night for car parking. So a lot of car parking outside which make the entrance a bit difficult

ZuileThe hotel staff were incredibly dedicated and responsive to all our requests. The room was clean and tidy. The beach behind the hotel is a bit small, but it's shared with the neighboring hotels, so you can walk along it, and the scenery is still beautiful. However, the hotel's internal landscaping is fantastic. It's definitely worth another visit.

Guest UserExcellent! The hotel staff were incredibly friendly; especially the bespectacled gentleman at check-in, the lady at the lobby lounge bar, and the young man cleaning on the 6th floor – all were wonderfully welcoming. The sea-view room was fantastic, no obstructions as some online reviews mentioned, I had a perfect view of the sea. I even encountered a lizard by the pool, probably trying to cool off from the heat!

Craig50Huge thanks to the lovely Chinese lady at the front desk for upgrading me to a garden-wing sea-view suite free of charge! I got to enjoy a private, huge balcony and a separate living and dining room, which was absolutely fantastic. The hotel's exterior is great, but the rooms are a bit dated. In the evening, I went to Ferringhi to watch the sunset, then took a taxi to Da Dong Seafood Restaurant for dinner. The sea there is quite muddy and sandy, so the water is generally murky. You have to walk to the Shangri-La Golden Sands next door to find a very small stretch of beach. For a room rate of 3000 yuan a night, the breakfast was pretty mediocre. In comparison, the E&O Hotel in Penang offers much better value for money.

I did a lot of research before deciding on Hotel Sentral Seaview by the Beach.
Most reviews weren’t favorable however I was willing to take a risk considering my last hotel was horrible.
Overall, I was surprised and it has exceeded my expectations. Having said that my expectations were pretty low!
Positives:
- Rooms were clean. The hardware of the hotel has undergone some major wear and tear. However, the hotel and room has undergone a fresh coat of paint. There is a faint smell of paint, but that for me wasn’t a negative.
- Initially in my room was facing the hotel next-door. On the same level I could see the security guards and the neighbor hotel walk back-and-forth. As a female guest, this made me feel super uncomfortable. I went downstairs and requested a room change. The response from the front desk was “Just close your curtains.” In the end I was changed to another room on the other side of the hotel facing the ocean.
- The view! Wow. Seeing and hearing the waves from the beach.. all the stress falls away! Because I was given this room, I made the decision to rebook another 2 nights at the hotel!
- Wi-Fi was strong.
- Hardly anyone using the pool, which made it really peaceful and quiet. Water is cool and clean. On the first day I was there the hotel were doing maintenance and cleaning of the pool area.
- The beach is quiet (not many people)
- and quite clean.
- Right in front of the hotel, few footsteps away is a huge food court with lots of variety of food. It’s fantastic. 10 min walk is Lotus Mall.
- There is a bus stop outside. Take 101 to go to Batu Ferringhi Beach.
- 200 m from the hotel is the Oceano Symphony cafe. Good food and drinks.
- Breakfast - was basic but ok.
- Staff are friendly and helpful!
Overall, the positives outweighed the negatives. I can understand that this hotel may not be the standard of a lot of international guests. But for peace, little crowds and sounds of the waves, in a quiet spot on the Penang island it’s been great.

Guest UserThe hotel has a beautiful environment. Although it's a bit old, it's well-maintained and blends perfectly with nature. We even saw a swaggering lizard! It's especially great for families with kids; the little ones had a blast with the outdoor pool, slides, and indoor games. There's also a 7-Eleven, night market, hawker stalls, and a durian stand right outside the hotel, which is super convenient.
I particularly want to thank Elvin Tan, a hotel staff member who speaks Chinese. When our child got separated from us and we had a language barrier, his kindness and enthusiasm helped our child reconnect with us. Furthermore, when we ran out of cash and didn't have a credit card, he helped us reduce a portion of our deposit. His genuine service truly touched us. Shangri-La Hotel should be proud to have such an excellent employee! Thank you again, Mr. Elvin, you added such a wonderful touch to our holiday. We hope to return to Shangri-La for another vacation and see you again in the future.

Jeevan NairMy recent stay at Bayview Beach Resort was unfortunately cut short due to a sudden family emergency, as I received news that my uncle had passed away during my trip. What was supposed to be a short relaxing getaway quickly turned into an emotional and stressful situation for me and my family.
Despite the circumstances, I truly want to express my heartfelt appreciation to the reception team and back office staff at the resort. From the moment I informed them about the situation, they handled everything with great empathy, professionalism, and understanding. The process of cancelling and modifying my second night stay was made smooth and hassle-free, which really helped ease my burden during such a difficult time.
Sometimes, it is not only the facilities or location that make a hotel memorable, but the kindness and humanity shown by the people working there. The staff genuinely showed care and patience while assisting me, and I am sincerely grateful for their support. Their understanding allowed me to focus on returning home and being with my family without additional stress.
Even though my trip ended unexpectedly, I still managed to experience the comfort and hospitality that Bayview Beach Resort is known for. The environment was peaceful, the stay was comfortable, and the service standards were commendable throughout my short visit.
Thank you once again to the reception and back office team for your compassion and assistance during a difficult moment in my life. Your kindness will always be remembered, and I truly appreciate the excellent customer service provided.

Anonymous UserWe had a pleasant stay although its just for a night. The downside is the time delay during check in which approximately around 10-20 minutes of waiting since our room has not completely prepared. It is a bit frustrating since we come at 3.30pm which 30 minutes late of the standard check-in time. However, the hotel had prepared extra bed (FOC) which we believe is a nice gesture from them to compensate the bad experience.
The room is spacious and got terrace with really nice beach view. The breakfast spread is full of variety and just nice.

Anonymous UserPositive -have requested for a connecting room, and hotel arranged the connecting room for us.
The buffer restaurant got a nice view, but not our room,
Negative - we were allocated the room could see the opposite building closely, means other buildings could see us as well. No privacy at all.
Rooms getting a bit dated
The rubbish bin not clean up every day
We haven't been notified there was a short renovation upstairs in the afternoon, we were taking rest at the hotel by that time.
The worse is after we come back from dinner, the light at the corridor and in our room all dark. This is the first time I experienced all night off in my hotel room. The manager told me that because we switched off the main switch, and made both rooms light off. Do you think it is possible for us even turn off the corridor light and another room night? In fact, we never turn off the light.

Hazyma RahmanStayed at Mercure Penang for a short weekend getaway.
Overall, the stay was generally pleasant. The location was nice and not too far from everything. The beach area was definitely one of the best parts with private access, well maintained, and clean, which made the stay feel more relaxed.
Breakfast was okay, but during high season, the dining area felt a little too cramped and crowded.
However, the housekeeping incident really left a bad impression. At around 11:40 a.m., the cleaner came into the room unannounced and asked when we were checking out. It honestly caught us by surprise and felt quite uncomfortable. He came again at around 12:15 p.m. to ask the same thing, and we eventually left at 12:30 p.m.
Guests should not feel rushed or disturbed before check-out time, especially by staff entering the room without proper notice. That part was really irritating and unfortunately affected the overall experience.
