Overall, the stay was okay and fairly comfortable. The location is excellent and very convenient. However, there were several issues with the room details and service. Some areas of the room did not seem to be cleaned properly — there were a few hairs found in the shower area, and the tissue supply was not refilled promptly and ran out very quickly. In addition, the amount of shower gel and shampoo provided was too little and definitely not enough for two people.
The service also felt quite slow and inefficient. It was my first time experiencing a hotel breakfast buffet that required guests to queue for a long time due to the limited seating space. Furthermore, although check-in time was supposed to be at 2 PM, when we arrived close to 3 PM, the counter staff informed us that the room was still not ready and we had to continue waiting, which was quite disappointing and should not have happened.
That said, despite these issues, the overall stay was still reasonably comfortable and the hotel offers decent value for money.
Location is great. On my bday, surprisingly they send a birthday cake. So i hv a small celebration in the room with my daughter. They also let us do late check out, because i need to see doctor in morning and my flight is at night. Its very2 helpfull
I was upgraded to a Deluxe room but it was at the extreme corner next to the service staircase. Grateful for the upgraded but the room conditions were not up to par . Hair in shower room , the shower holder fell when I was taking it out and it dropped on my toe . Hence the blue black toe shown ( hehe ) . I could not sleep the whole night as the air con was very very noisy even when I lower the adjustment. The day curtain was torn . I sound it out to reception the next morning to see whether they can change my room as I was staying for another 2 nights . They did and I reckoned it was another up grade as now the room has a standing shower room . In the other previous room , you have to stand in the bath tub to shower and for a man of 65 , it is a bit tricky . The hotel really needs an up grade too . It is in a good location and CAT bus is nearby . The CAT shuttle is a complimentary bus that moves around the town area .
The saving grace for my trip was that the staff was up to par and reacted quickly . Well done on this .
Now , I wait for my toe to heal .
Although we only needed a one bedroom apartment, we booked a two bedroom as that was all that was available at the time. We were really looking forward to having some space after spending the last couple of weeks in hotel rooms, so we were pleasantly surprised when we were offered a 3 bedroom apartment as none of the two bedrooms were ready. It was fabulous, lots of space and way up on the 32nd floor which makes for quite the view. Great place, the pool was fantastic and it's in a great location with a small beach out front (note this is not walkable at high tide).
Thing that could be better is a few more supplies/furnishings. Although we had a balcony, there were no tables or chairs for outside (we did ask but nothing was available) and although we had dishes and cutlery for 6 people there was only one medium sized frying pan and one medium sized saucepan, which made for some creative cooking. But we would go back again especially for a longer stay.
We had a good stay at Flamingo Hotel by The Beach Penang. The hotel is very beautiful, and the room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was also good. All the staff were nice except for one person named mr Li. He was not friendly during check-in, and I happened to meet the same person again during check-out. He looked very bossy, double standard and unfriendly. I would recommend sending him for hospitality training, especially for front office service. Other than that, everything was good and we had a pleasant stay there….
Highly recommended for families with young children! The room isn't huge, but it's well-designed, with comfortable lighting and a clean, odor-free environment. The shower has great water pressure and gets nice and hot. There are plenty of kids' facilities, and the pool is excellent, with super responsible lifeguards – parents of older kids can really relax there. There's also a kids' club for children under 12. They have a private beach, though the sea in Penang isn't particularly blue and has jellyfish, so swimming isn't an option. Part of the hotel is under renovation, but my room felt very new, likely recently refurbished. There's a Hard Rock Cafe on the ground floor with a live band every night at 8:45 PM, creating a great atmosphere. This is a family-friendly hotel with excellent value for money.
We stayed here as a family of 10 and had such a wonderful experience from start to finish. The rooms were spacious and the beds were incredibly comfortable — everyone slept so well each night.
The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious, with something for everyone to enjoy. One of the highlights was definitely the beautiful view, which made our stay even more special and relaxing.
Overall, it was a memorable getaway for all of us, and we’re already looking forward to coming back again. Highly recommended for families!
We like the sea view from the hotel. Comfy room.
You may park your car at the tanjung point basement car park just beside the hotel and before you go out from the car park, remember to ask the receptionist to validate the touch and go card to get free parking.
The convenient store (mynews) is just located at ground floor of tanjung point.
The Amari SPICE Penang is a standout choice for travelers seeking a sleek, contemporary stay directly connected to the island's premier convention center and near the airport. Its rooms are impressively bright and spacious, offering high-end comfort and modern tech amenities that cater perfectly to both business guests and families. While the location in Bayan Lepas is a bit far from the historic charm of George Town, the hotel compensates with a spectacular rooftop pool and a diverse, high-quality breakfast spread. Ultimately, it is the best-in-class option for those prioritizing convenience and modern luxury over proximity to the heritage district.
This hotel truly deserves a good review. I'd definitely stay here again on my next visit.
**Service:** Top-notch! The hotel knew we needed to change (Penang was so hot!), and they let us check in early at 10 AM since a room was available. Water was also delivered to our room very quickly.
**Location:** Super convenient. There's a 7-Eleven right next door and a shopping mall.
**Accommodation Experience:** I requested a standing shower room in advance, and that's exactly what I got. The bed was quite large, and the overall feeling was spacious and clean.
**Dining:** During the May Day holiday, there was about a 5-minute wait for breakfast, which was perfectly acceptable.

GGuest UserThe service was good and the food was delicious . The water slide and the Amazonia splash was very fun ,but the beach and sea was very dirty. The playroom was fun , but it was only for toddlers ,the tween have nothing to do there. The hotel room was too cold,it was freezing in there. The overall experience was good .
XXiaoxiannvdexiaohuangrenThe hotel's location is fantastic, offering hundreds of meters of coastal views with towering trees. Enjoying wine and coffee under the shade of these trees by the sea is a wonderful experience. The rooms are clean and tidy, with beautiful views of both the garden and the sea. The restaurant is excellent; you can have breakfast by the pool or the sea, and the food variety and taste are rich. Overall, the service is quite warm, but check-in can be a bit slow. If several groups of guests arrive at once, there can be a long wait. This place is perfect for a relaxing and laid-back vacation.
MMeiziMaggieThe hotel is right on Batu Ferringhi beach, offering unparalleled views of the Andaman Sea as soon as you open the window 🌅. The resort grounds are lined with palm trees and tropical gardens – a perfect place to feel relaxed while enjoying the sea breeze and watching the sunset.
This time, I booked an Executive Suite: double the space, double the view!
* **Spacious:** At 66 square meters, with separate living room and bedroom, there's plenty of room for kids and luggage without feeling cramped.
* **Dual Bathrooms:** Two bathrooms mean no more fighting over the toilet for the whole family, making getting ready to go out incredibly efficient!
* **270-Degree Panoramic View:** Large floor-to-ceiling windows + a private balcony provide essentially a panoramic view. Whether lying down or standing, you can take in the breathtaking Andaman Sea and tropical garden scenery.
**Tons of Kid-Friendly Activities – No Bored Kids Here!**
* Outdoors, there's a Splash Zone with slides and a kids' pool where the little ones can spend the whole afternoon.
* The indoor Adventure Zone offers large slides and play facilities (air-conditioned, so no worries about the sun!).
* The Cool Zone Kids' Club also organizes activities like crafts and kite painting, giving adults a chance to sneak away for a drink.
* The hotel has pool games, beach volleyball, and more, keeping the whole family active.
**📍 Convenient Location**
Turn right when you leave the hotel, and you're at the Batu Ferringhi Night Market, perfect for snacks and souvenirs. Across the street, there's a McDonald's, hawker stalls, and a supermarket.
**🎉 Hidden Gems I Discovered Only After Visiting:**
Shangri-La Golden Sands Resort is connected to the neighboring Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort!
* **Interconnected Facilities:** You can freely move between the two hotels and share their leisure facilities.
* In just 5 minutes, you can switch from the lively atmosphere of Golden Sands to the upscale colonial charm of Rasa Sayang.
* Most importantly, the room rates at Golden Sands are often half that of the Rasa Sayang next door! It's like enjoying the top-tier amenities of both hotels for half the price!
GGuest UserThe room was quite satisfying. The family suite consisted of two rooms, both offering great views and large windows. The rooms were also very tidy.
The hotel's breakfast was rich and varied, and the staff were all very friendly, proactively smiling and greeting guests. A particular highlight was the swimming pool's proximity to the beach, which, despite the sand not being super fine, was very convenient in terms of location.
The only minor drawbacks were some details that could be improved in this older hotel, such as replacing the towels with fluffier ones, and providing a check-in guide that clearly marks nearby supermarkets, shops, and attractions.
BBaobaoBbThe lobby was comfortable and spacious, with a lovely pool view. Check-in was pleasant, and the welcome cookie was delicious. The lemon water provided in the lobby was also a thoughtful touch.
The room was comfortable, with a good bed and pillows. There was a proper working desk, which was useful. The seating area was nice, although it would have been better if there was a small table in front of the sofa.
I stayed for two nights. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the room door lock. It was faulty and very difficult to open. Even after the staff came to assist, the issue was still not properly fixed.
Every time entering the room, it took two people pushing the door together to open it. My hand even became red and swollen from trying to open it. I wanted to request a room change, but due to my tight schedule and not feeling very well, I decided to let it go.
Overall, the facilities were good and the hospitality touches were appreciated, but the door issue really affected the stay.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location is excellent. There's a mall right downstairs, making shopping and dining super convenient. It's also close to other tourist attractions, and getting a taxi is quick and easy! We even ran into Chinese celebrity Huang Xiaoming and others promoting a movie at Gurney Plaza during our stay.
HHeihemaThe hotel is right by the sea, with the beach just beyond the lawn and outdoor pool. The staff provided excellent service, and check-in was very quick. I loved the lawn and big trees outside my window, especially when they were lit up at night – it looked beautiful. You can watch the sunset directly from your room or balcony, though many people go down to the beach to see it up close by the water. A short walk from there is the beach fire show. Turn right outside the hotel's main entrance, and you'll find a bustling night market in the evenings, with lots of traffic and activity. During the day, it's much quieter. It feels like a small town here, with many houses and even an amusement park, plus a surprisingly large Starbucks. As a Marriott resort, the hotel's facilities and services are top-notch. I especially have to mention the live cooking station at breakfast; both the freshly cooked noodles and vermicelli were delicious, but you absolutely cannot miss the soup – it was amazing! 👍

HHaodadeyunThe sea view from the bedroom and bathroom was absolutely stunning and really captivated me. I also loved the apartment layout. The living room was spacious, and having a large fridge, washing machine, and kitchen was very convenient, even though we didn't use them. The hotel breakfast didn't have a huge variety, but the food was good, and the service was excellent. Right next door there's a mall with a 24-hour convenience store and two spa places. The night market and food stalls are within walking distance, and Gurney Plaza isn't too far either; we walked there both evenings for some shopping.
