Gulong Stay Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
I recently stayed near Gulong Canyon and had a wonderful experience overall. The area is surrounded by lush green mountains and rivers, so the views are absolutely stunning, especially in the early morning with mist in the valley. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and had a rustic charm that fit the natural setting.
The main attraction — the glass bridge and skywalk — was breathtaking (and a little scary if you’re afraid of heights). Staff were friendly and helpful, though English was limited, so having a translation app helped. Local food was fresh and tasty, especially the river fish dishes.
One tip: bring comfortable walking shoes and be prepared for some steep climbs. It’s best to visit on weekdays to avoid heavy crowds.
Would I come back? Definitely — especially to enjoy more hiking trails and maybe try the zipline next time.
1) This hotel is literally situated on the China-Vietnam border. From my room window, I could see Vietnam, and the front desk even warned me that if I had an iPhone, it might pick up signals from the neighboring country and my time zone could change. The rooftop observation deck offers an even better view of the border scenery, encompassing both Dongxing in China and Mong Cai in Vietnam.
2) When I booked on Trip.com, I specifically requested a non-smoking room, and the hotel front desk truly delivered! The floor and room were genuinely free of any secondhand smoke. Honestly, in a fourth-tier city in (what is arguably the world's number one country for secondhand smoke), this was a rare and pleasant surprise.
3) It's quite close to the Dongxing Port, just a 5-minute walk away.
If you want to experience the charm of a border town right from your room, and if you appreciate clean room facilities and fresh, natural air, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Upon check-in, the front desk attendant upgraded my room to the 49th floor. The view is fantastic, offering a panoramic sight of the Liujiang River, and the night view is equally stunning. The room size is decent, though some facilities could use an upgrade. For instance, there's no master switch by the bed, so I had to get up to turn off the lights before sleeping. The curtains aren't automatic, and the bathroom only has a handheld shower, no rainfall showerhead. They also only provide two bottles of water. Overall, the service was good; the front desk lady accommodated my request for a late checkout. For breakfast, the gravy for the freshly made Guilin rice noodles was quite tasty, but the self-serve Chinese fried rice and dishes had limited options. The location is excellent, away from the crowded Wuxing Street area. However, Poly Plaza and the snack street downstairs offer almost all of Liuzhou's local specialties, including luosifen, tapioca pudding, and duck legs. It's also very convenient to catch a taxi to tourist attractions.

This was my first time in Guilin, and I chose this hotel. Its location is excellent! Right outside the main entrance is Zheng Yang Road Pedestrian Street. A 10-minute walk to the right leads to Elephant Trunk Hill, and a 2-minute walk to the left takes you to East and West Alleys. The room facilities are complete, and the hotel environment is beautiful. The observation deck on the 10th floor, in particular, offers stunning views of the East and West Alleys at night and the distant mountains during the day. The front desk staff, both male and female, were very warm and attentive.

The service was excellent. The front desk staff saw that we had a child with us and thoughtfully moved us to a non-smoking room and even upgraded our stay. The bellhop not only helped with our luggage but also gave us a detailed overview of the hotel's amenities. When checking out, the lobby manager patiently looked after our bags. In short, the hotel staff's service was outstanding, very friendly, and enthusiastic – big thumbs up to them!
Secondly, the hotel's location is superb. It's right behind a bustling commercial area, which is incredibly convenient with a wide variety of shops and products – perfect for a shopping spree. The lobby is clean, bright, and has a pleasant aroma from the scented diffusers and fresh flowers. They also offer delicious fruit tea. The overall atmosphere is fantastic.
The room itself was also very satisfying. It felt quite modern with a unique layout and was spacious enough. The facilities are well-maintained. The gym is clean, tidy, bright, spacious, and well-equipped. The pool water was very clean and at a comfortable temperature. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, and the shower space was quite roomy. A housekeeper cleans the room daily.
Overall, the value for money is exceptional. If I had to choose again, I would definitely stay here. Highly recommended!

After comparing several hotels, we finally chose this one, and it exceeded our expectations! The value for money is outstanding. Firstly, the location is perfect – peaceful yet central. Just 100 meters to the left is the Twin Pagodas scenic area, and Elephant Trunk Hill is only about 1 km away on foot. What really stood out were the excellent hotel facilities and service quality. My child actually loved staying in the room and napping for two afternoons straight (though adjusting to the time difference after returning home also played a role). My child is very particular about hotel stays, so her satisfaction is rare; in Shanghai, she only stays at The Puli Hotel. The hotel's dining was incredibly impressive. Upon check-in, we received a complimentary local specialty, Beer Fish (valued at 98 yuan). The ingredients were fresh and it was deliciously prepared – fantastic! We ended up ordering all our subsequent meals from the hotel restaurant. I checked, and the hotel restaurant ranks number one locally on Dazhong (Dianping)! Highly recommended! This is the king of value-for-money hotels in Guilin!

I have stayed at the Wyndham Baise Resort a few times during the past couple of years. This past week I stayed two nights with friends to celebrate my birthday. The hotel staff delivered a cake and card to my room, which was a sweet surprise. The staff is always friendly and helpful. There is always someone available who can speak English if you need it. We enjoy eating at the restaurant on the first floor which has a variety of good food to choose from. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There is a pool and a sauna that we use every time we go. I love the view of the city and river from the window. A mall and some restaurants are in walking distance.

From the moment I stepped into the hotel, I was greeted warmly by the front desk staff. All of them are so friendly. One of them even sent my friend and I to our room personally and helped me lug my luggage.
The room was so spacious, the mattress was comfortable and I enjoyed good sleep for my 3 nights stay.
For breakfast, they provide western and local selection. The vermicelli served was very delicious.
On the day we checked out, Lily sent my friend and I to the waiting area to wait for our cab to bring us to the high speed train station.
I highly recommend this hotel as it is near the sun and moon pagoda and elephant trunk hill. All are just within 15 minutes walk from the hotel. The food street and pedestrian street is less than 10 minutes walk form the hotel.

Regarding this hotel, I'd advise against checking in with the bespectacled front desk staff member. The first room I was given was a corner room. After going downstairs to discuss it, I requested a more 'standard' shaped room. What I got instead was a room where the TV completely blocked the view, I mean, seriously??? And the bed was incredibly small, as shown in picture 1.
She also told me that because I'm a member, I could have a late checkout until 2 PM. I really appreciate that – what kind of benefit is that?
It took a third complaint to finally get a standard-shaped room. My Trip.com Gold and IHG membership meant absolutely nothing.
This hotel has a very poor service mentality. When checking out, an employee even asked for a positive review, saying it was a task requirement and to remember to write her name. I replied, 'You're just checking me out; it's not like I received any special service, right?'

Located opposite a pretty lake, nice for a walk, the hotel is good for leisure and business travellers. The rooms are large and well equipped. The shower was particularly nice and the bed is comfortable. The hotel is very clean.
Fortunately I was with my Chinese speaking partner otherwise check in may have been a longer process. The breakfast was also fine but more orientated to local audience - albeit there is bread, fruit, eggs. Coffee at breakfast is not so good.

GGuest UserYangshuo Park Hotel is right in West Street, an absolutely fantastic location that makes it super convenient for getting around and finding food. From the room, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of West Street, and the night view with all the lights is amazing. The room itself was clean, tidy, comfortable, and quiet – a peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle. The breakfast was plentiful, and the laundry room with a washer and dryer was a lifesaver for travelers. The service was warm and attentive, and the value for money was exceptional. Staying here in Yangshuo was incredibly comfortable and relaxing. Highly recommended!
MM250322****Hygiene: Clean and tidy.
Environment: The window offers a mountain view, and there's a rooftop terrace with a panoramic view of the mountains, making for a beautiful setting. It's close to West Street but not directly on it, about a 5-minute walk, so it's very quiet at night, ensuring a peaceful sleep.
WWuxinqiqiIf 100 points is a perfect score for a hotel experience, I wouldn't hesitate to give 'Poetry & Faraway · Xiangshan Youyue Hotel' 200 points! This stay went far beyond 'exceeding expectations' – it was simply perfect.
The facilities are impeccable: The room was spacious and bright, with stylish and tasteful decor. The biggest surprise was the super-sized bathtub; bath time became the most enjoyable part of my day. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, and they even thoughtfully provided both soft and firm pillows to cater to different sleeping preferences – attention to detail at its finest! The restaurant is on the 9th floor, with a stunning outdoor pool just outside. Enjoying breakfast while admiring the beautiful view was pure bliss.
Smart and convenient: The room was equipped with a smart 'Xiaodu' speaker, making voice control incredibly convenient. Food deliveries were brought directly to our door by an adorable robot, which was both efficient and fun. There's also a self-service laundry room near the rooms, which is a lifesaver for long-term travelers.
But the service is truly the trump card: From the moment we checked in and added the butler on WeChat, we felt incredibly well taken care of. Any request we had was met with an immediate response and solution from the butler. What touched me most was an incident during breakfast today: an elderly person accidentally knocked over their tray, spilling food everywhere. The staff present didn't show any hesitation or displeasure; they rushed over immediately to comfort the startled elder, repeatedly asking if they were hurt, and swiftly and quietly cleaned up the mess. The entire process was filled with genuine concern. This kind of heartfelt kindness and professionalism is more precious than any luxurious facility.
It was raining when we checked out, and the front desk staff proactively offered us disposable raincoats. This constant thoughtfulness made our whole family feel incredibly warm. Even our child was clamoring, ”I don't want to go to the next stop, I just want to keep staying here!”
This wasn't just a stay; it was an experience filled with warm memories. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality, heartfelt accommodation!

MM628905****After checking in, I was pleasantly surprised by everything. The owner was incredibly welcoming, not only helping with my luggage but also enthusiastically introducing local attractions. The hotel is very close to the attractions, just a few minutes' walk from the rice terraces. I recommend allowing extra time, as the hotel's scenery is absolutely stunning. During the day, you can also stroll around the village and experience the local customs and culture.

TTianlanshuiqingshulvThe location is great! Right outside, you can enjoy night tours and the Gongnong Bridge. You can take a taxi to Jima Pier to take a bamboo raft. After getting off the raft, it's about a 10-minute walk to the hotel. I don't recommend taking the electric shuttle to Jima Pier for the bamboo raft, as you'd have to take another shuttle back to the pier, which is inconvenient. Getting to West Street is also just a taxi ride away, usually around 17 RMB. For food, I suggest trying rice noodles or just grabbing something from the snack stalls on West Street – they're cheap and the taste is decent. The beer fish and beer duck are pretty average, worth trying at most once. On rainy days, I didn't feel like visiting many attractions. My main enjoyment was the bamboo raft ride; the scenery was beautiful.

YYidanchichichiStayed in a room with a river view right by the Li River in Yangshuo, and there's even a helipad... The hotel has a pool, and on the ninth floor rooftop, there's a 'Sky Mirror' with panoramic views of the Li River – perfect for photos! We stayed in a two-story duplex. The room has a modern minimalist style, with large floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of light. All the disposable amenities are well-stocked, and the room is very smart. You can see the Li River as soon as you open the window, and it's just a ten-minute walk to West Street! The hotel breakfast is also very rich, featuring Guilin rice noodles and oil tea. The hotel's location is super convenient; it's easy to get anywhere. You can just hop on an e-scooter and head to West Street or Yulong River!
GGuest UserAfter booking, I received a call asking about any special requests. I mentioned wanting to avoid a room at the end of the hall, and during check-in, they thoroughly explained that the hotel has a circular layout, so there's no such thing as a 'room at the end of the hall.' Seeing that I was a Diamond member, they proactively upgraded me to a high-floor deluxe king room, which was great!
Parking was convenient, and upon check-in, I found fruit, coffee, and tea readily available. This hotel really broke my preconceived notions about traditional five-star hotels; it has a bit of a St. Regis or Park Hyatt vibe.
The independent cafe next door, 'Daydream,' is truly a hidden gem, especially their cold brew. It has a rich flavor with almost no bitterness – absolutely delicious!

AAlehandro SupertrampA lovely renovated and pleasant hotel. I really liked everything — the room is very large, a panoramic window with a magnificent view, comfortable mattresses and furniture. The breakfasts in the restaurant on the 9th floor with amazing views were delicious and varied.
All the staff were very helpful, starting with the welcome tea and helping with the luggage. The hotel has a wonderful tour manager who offers good prices for excursions. I would especially like to mention the girl Xiao Cloud, our dedicated concierge. She was very helpful, always in touch and helped us with everything. We were also given a wonderful gift from the hotel. I'm thrilled, I highly recommend it! Next time, we'll definitely stop right there. The city itself is beautiful!

MMOFEI1205A hotel full of surprises, with an excellent location. There's a small gate that leads directly to Elephant Trunk Hill. We visited during the off-season, so it was very comfortable with fewer crowds. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, and the afternoon tea was also great. The room was spacious, and the kids absolutely loved it. Breakfast was very rich and delicious. My favorite part was the small courtyard – it was perfect for taking photos!

YYY9991As a Ctrip Black Diamond member, this was my first time staying at a guesthouse, and it was a delightful surprise! Besides the room layout which wasn't quite to my taste, everything else was simply perfect. I highly recommend other hotels learn from their butler service here. The butler manages absolutely everything, big or small, offering a comprehensive, one-stop service for dining, accommodation, and travel. They handle all discounts that apply, and every staff member seems ready to assist you at a moment's notice. They even helped me book tickets for the Liu Sanjie show and 'Eternal Love' performance. Just tell them what you need, and they'll solve it. The à la carte dishes at the restaurant were also amazing; I ate till I was stuffed every time. Breakfast was decent. It's definitely worth experiencing. Finally, I wish all the staff good luck in the Year of the Horse and a prosperous business!
