Hotels With Breakfast in Bagmati, Nepal

The whole hotel system seems to be created with foreigners in mind. I stayed for 2 nights, while my family stayed for 3 nights. I originally booked the 2 nights through Trip.com. When I wanted to add an extra day, I was informed it was better to book it again online. At that time, I was in Nepal for 3 days and my phone was being repaired in Hong Kong, so I didn’t have access to my usual email or digital wallet. I had Nepali cash, but the payment system wouldn’t allow it, and I was denied the option to add more nights directly at the front desk. I tried booking again using my temporary phone, but the credit/card wouldn’t allow it—possibly because the phone and location were new and my digital wallet couldn’t be used. The only solution was asking a friend to book the additional night for me. This experience made me feel that the system is not friendly to Nepali guests and that they may strongly prefer online foreign-currency-style payment methods rather than Nepali rupees. I also tried to get the Nepali rate. It was around NPR 12,000–15,000, while the online rate was significantly cheaper. Based on the current currency conversion, the price difference felt like it could be about 3,000–5,000 rupees less online. This also made me feel they may not truly support Nepali pricing equally. The front desk staff were sometimes helpful, but they often didn’t seem genuine. Some staff seemed reluctant and not truly welcoming or happy to assist. In contrast, the only people who felt consistently happy to see me amd my family were the housekeeping staff and the guards. About the room it’s a bit small. I took a long warm shower, and after a while the water started leaking toward the bedroom corridor. However, there were also positives—despite being in Kathmandu, the tap had good water flow and the water color looked clear, not yellowish (and not as low-flow). Overall, the stay didn’t feel welcoming to me or my family. I’m not sure if this is because the system is designed not to cater well to Nepali guests, or simply because the staff attitude was “blah.” Would I stay again? It feels like 50–50. My honest advice is: if you’re not Nepali, you will love it. But if you are Nepali and want to feel genuinely welcomed, you should think carefully—because you could spend the same amount or much more less at a family-owned business and likely feel much more respected and welcomed.

Great location and modern facilities. It's clean, but the staff truly stand out as exceptional. Every staff member, from the front desk to the breakfast area, is warm and genuinely caring. The breakfast menu changes daily to suit guests' preferences, and they even create off-menu dishes themselves. I'm definitely coming back!

The hostel is located in the Thamel area, surrounded by restaurants, shops, bars, and nightclubs, making it super convenient to get around. The cleanliness of the hostel is decent, but they provide blankets, which probably aren't changed daily. However, the sheets and pillowcases seem to be changed regularly. The room has air conditioning and Wi-Fi, and there's hot water available. Overall, it's pretty good, especially for only eighteen bucks a night – you can't beat that value for money!

★★★★★ I recently stayed at Hotel Barahi Kathmandu for 2 nights and 3 days during my trip to Nepal. To start with the conclusion, this is a hotel I would gladly stay at again. When I evaluate a hotel, I don't judge it solely on luxury or facilities. What matters most to me is how the people working at the hotel interact with their guests. Hotel Barahi Kathmandu was a very impressive hotel in that regard. From check-in to check-out, every staff member – at the front desk, in the restaurant, and from housekeeping – greeted me with natural smiles. It didn't feel like formal customer service because I was a 'guest,' but rather as if they were treating me as an individual. The hotel's location is also excellent. While it's within walking distance to the Thamel area, upon returning to the hotel, you find a calm space where you can forget the hustle and bustle of the city. It's a very convenient hotel for both sightseeing and staying. I also enjoyed breakfast every day. Beyond the variety of dishes, Nepali cuisine was also offered, which was great for a traveler like me to easily enjoy local flavors. On the other hand, there was noise in my room at night, and there was one day when I couldn't get enough rest. This was disappointing. However, what impressed me even more was the hotel staff's response afterward. They listened carefully to my concerns and addressed each issue without downplaying it. Their attitude conveyed a strong desire to 'improve the guest's stay.' During my travels, I pay close attention not only to the hotel's facilities but also to the people working there. No matter how grand the building, if the people aren't good, I wouldn't want to stay at that hotel again. Hotel Barahi Kathmandu was a hotel where I felt human warmth. Of course, there are always areas for improvement. But this hotel has an attitude of being willing to address those areas. That was of great value to me. That's why if I have the opportunity to visit Nepal again, I would choose this hotel once more. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to all the front desk staff, restaurant staff, and housekeeping who kindly assisted me during my stay. I had the most wonderful experience at Lo Mustang in November 2024. I came to Nepal for a wedding and Anisha at the front desk went above and beyond. Customer service was 10/10. I got recommendations for tailoring, jewelry, dry cleaning, and local dresses with transportation. Deepika, front desk manager, was fantastic always making sure my needs were being met and that my stay was comfortable. The hotel is in the perfect location with great amenities. I initially chose this spot because of the beautiful traditional decor. It was beautiful in person with murals on each floor. Breakfast is fantastic with a roof top view. I booked a second time on my way back home because it was so great. I traveled solo and left with new friends.

The hotel is 1 km from the bus stop. After booking, I received two emails. One of them provided some important information. I had a phone number, so I called the hotel to pick me up after I got off the bus. Within three minutes, they arrived on a motorcycle. The room was okay—not too picky at this price point in rural Nepal. The hot water was good, and shampoo, towels, soap, and toothbrushes were all provided. You had to ask the owner for a hairdryer and hot water. The service was friendly and welcoming. Overall, it was good. However, the hotel is 1 km from the main street, which can be inconvenient for dining out. Be aware of this when booking. Also, the cheaper rooms don't have air conditioning, but they charged me an extra 40 RMB to get one with air conditioning.

Location is amazing in Thamel, super easy to walk around for food and many things Staff at front desk was very friendly and helpful And there is a cocktail coupon every day Only breakfast was too late because my schedule to leave at 9 am but it was ready at 8.30 am and two days in a row. Overall it is very nice hotel to stay when you go to Kathmandu

My flight arrived in Kathmandu at 10 PM, and immigration took forever, so I didn't get out of the airport until almost 11 PM. I had emailed the hotel in advance to request an airport pick-up. I honestly thought no one would be there given how late it was and the lack of a contact number, but I saw my name card among the crowd waiting for cars at the exit. As a first-time visitor, this was such a pleasant and heartwarming surprise! The car took me to the hotel, which is located in the bustling, central Thamel area. Right downstairs, there's a 'Chengdu Skewers' restaurant. The hotel itself is one of the tallest buildings in the vicinity and boasts a glass-enclosed restaurant on the 12th-floor rooftop, with a pool and spa on the 11th floor – quite a bold design! Breakfast was good, and the service was attentive. The location is convenient; a rickshaw takes just 6 minutes to Durbar Square. The room size was adequate, but I was a bit disappointed to only get a room on the 4th floor after requesting a high-floor room. Also, the bathroom had a strong, foul odor that permeated the room even with the bathroom door closed. This backflow smell seems to be related to the plumbing and hygiene and definitely needs improvement. Other than that, everything else was great!

Warm Hospitality, Great Location, and Incredible Value I recently stayed at Hotel Pamelo House during my visit to Kathmandu as a tourist, and I must say it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel has five floor of the building and does not have a lift, which might concern some guests at first. However, the staff completely erased any worry I had about this. The team here is very, very polite and respectful, and even if you are staying on the upper floor, they will personally ensure your luggage is carried up and down by themselves. Not once did I feel burdened or inconvenienced, because they genuinely took care of everything with a smile. The test staff members are extremely courteous and always ready to help. Whatever you need, they will simply provide it without hesitation or complaint. Their warmth and willingness to serve truly made my stay memorable and comfortable. It felt less like a hotel and more like staying with people who genuinely care about your wellbeing. Another fantastic feature of this hotel is that they have the facility to arrange trips for guests. Whether you want to explore the city, go trekking, or plan a day tour, the staff can organize it all for you. The location of Hotel Pamelo House is essentially perfect. There are lots of shops near the area for food and shopping, and you will find almost everything you need right nearby. The Thamel Market is just a walking distance of about 750 meters away, and Kathmandu Durbar Square is also only around 800 meters on foot. This made exploring the city incredibly easy and convenient for me. Overall, Hotel Pamelo House is a great place to stay. The combination of polite staff, convenient location, trip arrangement services, and nearby amenities makes it an excellent choice for any tourist visiting Kathmandu.
