The location is superb, right by Harbour City and just a stone's throw from Victoria Harbour. We arrived from Zhuhai in the morning, around 11 AM, and were able to check-in early and store our luggage. We then immediately started our exploration of dining and shopping. Around 3 PM, I asked for our room number and was surprised with an upgrade! The room was super spacious, and the bathroom even had a shower. It also came with USB charging ports, so I didn't need to bring a power adapter. The bed was huge and very comfortable. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Hong Kong.From£95

A few years ago, I visited Hong Kong and stayed at Cordis for the first time, absolutely loving it. This time around, there was no question, I chose Cordis again. It's in a prime Mong Kok location, super convenient for transportation and shopping. The hotel lobby connects directly to Langham Place, and just outside, you'll find SaSa, Mannings, DONKI, and Matsukiyo. Famous local eateries like Fei Jie and 18 Seats Doggy Noodles are also within a 10-minute walk. Langham Place's basement connects to the MTR Tsuen Wan Line, offering direct access to Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Central without any transfers.
The hotel has been open for about ten years or so, and it's generally well-maintained, though of course, it can't compare to a brand new hotel – that's a matter of personal preference. A pleasant surprise this time was finding ice machines in the hallway on our floor. The room facilities are quite comprehensive, though having to stand in the bathtub for a shower is a minor drawback. The bedding is very comfortable, especially the pillows; I slept incredibly well. The front desk staff are all very nice, communicating in Mandarin, offering cold towels, and proactively greeting guests. However, the ground floor staff didn't offer to help with luggage proactively, which was a slight oversight. All in all, if you're looking for ultimate convenience, choosing Cordis is definitely the right decision.From£99

Mong Kok's travel ceiling! Royal Plaza Hotel made my entire Hong Kong trip comfortable and healing.
I stayed at the Royal Plaza Hotel throughout my self-guided trip to Hong Kong, and the overall experience far exceeded my expectations. I simply must write a detailed review.
The room was cleaned daily by dedicated staff, with impeccable hygiene control. The entire room was spotless, clean, and comfortable. The butler service was highly responsive and efficient; when I needed cutlery, it was delivered to the room instantly, which was very thoughtful. Every evening, I like to relax with a bath. The bathtub was clean and odorless. After a tiring day of travel, a hot bath washed away all the fatigue. Downstairs, there's direct access to Mui Wah Bing Tang, offering authentic Hong Kong-style food readily available and delicious, making dining out extremely convenient.
What surprised me most was the location: the hotel is seamlessly connected to Grand Century Place, and Mong Kok East Station is right outside. Taking the MTR to major popular spots like Ocean Park, Disneyland, Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Causeway Bay was a breeze, with no need to worry about transportation. In Hong Kong, where space is at a premium, the rooms are spacious and wide, providing maximum comfort, suitable for both family trips and solo travelers.
Two small, heartwarming suggestions for the hotel's improvement:
Currently, the cutlery and bowls provided are a bit small. It was slightly inconvenient when I occasionally cooked Samyang Buldak noodles at night. If larger instant noodle bowls could be added, it would better cater to the needs of young guests. Also, if a stainless steel caddy could be installed on the bathtub, allowing for a glass of wine, aromatherapy, or a book while bathing, the ambiance and experience would be even better.
Overall, it's impeccable. Hardware, service, and location are all top-notch. I will prioritize choosing this hotel again for my next trip to Hong Kong. I sincerely recommend it to all visitors to Hong Kong!From£77

2. I brought my own toothbrush, toothpaste, and comb after doing some research.

This time, it's a 5-star review for value for money! First off, the staff's attitude was excellent, with no differential treatment, a world of difference from my business trips here over a decade ago. Two things really impressed me: when the fridge in our room wasn't cooling, we informed the front desk, and within ten minutes, staff arrived with a new fridge to replace it. They were incredibly responsive to guest needs. The other thing was one night at 10 PM, a floor tile outdoors was cracked by a car. When we returned, we saw management and workers still repairing it at that late hour, and by the next morning, it was completely fixed. These details really showed the hotel's proactive attitude.
The location is also very convenient, with Metro N5 being the closest. However, this exit doesn't have an elevator, so I recommend using the iSquare exit. It has an elevator, and you can grab some food and drinks there before entering via the Nathan Road entrance.
The pool is also great for both adults and kids. It's open from 9 AM to 6 PM, which is a bit short; I hope they can improve that. The hygiene on the 12th floor is also good, and the bathrooms have renovated shower stalls. I would recommend it and consider staying again.From£82

With the coupons, we could redeem free food at designated merchants – a novel North Point experience that my sister didn't get to enjoy during her previous stay. On the morning of our check-out, we went swimming, but initially couldn't find the pool because we went in the wrong direction. We asked a cleaning auntie on the 16th floor, who very enthusiastically helped us, and we then realized the pool was in the East Wing across the way.🤣 While passing through the lobby, we noticed two different elevators going in different directions. James Yun helped us by guiding us to our destination. We ended up having a wonderful time swimming and playing in the pool. When we returned from swimming, we found out the pool had been temporarily closed due to a thunderstorm warning. We were so lucky! If we had gone a little later, we wouldn't have been able to swim! Service: The service in the lobby, guest rooms, restaurant, and front desk was all excellent – professional and efficient. A special shout-out to May Ling, the housekeeper on the 14th floor. Her warm smile made her feel like a friendly neighbor. She brought fruit, turned down the bed, and always greeted me enthusiastically. I looked forward to bumping into her every day of my stay.
Charging: The room was equipped with a converter, charging ports, and charging cables, which showed great attention to detail. I had forgotten my headphone charging cable this time and was worried if my headphones would last for three days on the trip, but all that anxiety vanished once I entered the room.
Shower: The water pressure in the shower was incredibly strong, making for a refreshing shower. This was a pleasant surprise for a hotel with 45 years of history.
Breakfast: Very rich and varied, with many types of meat. The staff in all departments were very proactive, and the dishes were delicious. There were Chinese, Western, Japanese, and Southeast Asian options, so I'd give it full marks.

The biggest advantage of this hotel is its proximity to the airport, just a few minutes' walk away. Having passed through Hong Kong Airport countless times, this was my first stay at this five-star hotel that everyone instinctively assumes would be good. My actual experience, however, was five-star pricing for the quality of a domestic budget hotel, or even worse. The disposable slippers were only slightly thicker than paper-thin ones; it was my first time encountering such cheap slippers in a five-star hotel. Shower caps were charged at HK$5 each, and the toothbrushes felt very cheap. The interior decor was old and outdated, the furniture sparse – the phrase 'bare walls' came to mind. It was, however, clean, and had the basic amenities you'd expect in a normal budget hotel, like bath towels, hand towels, tea bags, and teacups. Frankly, I'd rather use my own disposable bath towel. Our family room for four had two beds, but only two duvets. I ended up pulling off the paper-thin bedsheet to use as a cover, giving the duvets to my family. There was one of those thin IKEA mattress toppers on top of the mattress. I woke up in the middle of the night with an unbearable itch on my back – I'm not sure if it was psychological or if I was allergic to that mattress topper. The bathtub in the bathroom was very old and lacked a shower curtain; there was a glass panel blocking only half of the tub. It had a sign saying not to use it as a handrail. To shower, you had to stand in the very corner of the tub, with the showerhead pointed at the wall. It truly was a 'cold shower' – one half of my body was hit with hot water while the other was pressed against the cold wall. Otherwise, water would splash out because of the half-panel. Even so, the floor mat was definitely soaked. The surrounding area was where taxis queued, making it a bit chaotic, but getting a taxi in and out was convenient enough. Several floors inside the lobby were filled with commercial establishments like restaurants and spas, giving off a somewhat chaotic vibe, similar to crossing the border from Lo Wu into Shenzhen. If there's any highlight, it's the swimming pool. It wasn't crowded, and unlike domestic hotels, there were no strange mandatory dress codes or swimming cap requirements – the only rule was no long pants in the water. It also had dry and wet sauna facilities. This area made you feel like, 'okay, this hotel still has some star quality.' It's passable for a stay, at least the room size met the standard of a domestic budget hotel. Just don't have high expectations, and you'll be happy. 😃From£72

The hotel can be accessed through the basement via exit M6 (staircase but sheltered) and M8 (escalator, but need to cross the road). The downside of the room is the aircon faces and blows directly on the face when laying on the bed. It can be disturbing when sleeping. We recently stayed at the Dinosaur Kingdom Family Room and transferred to a Premier Twin Room the following day. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The staff were consistently kind, helpful, and accommodating, which we truly appreciated.
We especially enjoyed the family room—it was thoughtfully designed and perfect for traveling with a young child. I had initially planned for a two-night stay in this room, but unfortunately, renovations were scheduled to begin the following day. This was a bit disappointing, as it made our time there feel quite short, especially with other activities already planned during our trip.
In comparison to other five-star hotels we’ve stayed in, I did find the lack of flexibility with early check-in a bit surprising, particularly for the themed room. We had hoped to settle in earlier, and similarly, the following day’s transfer to the Premier room was not available early as it was fully booked. While this was different from what I’m used to, I do understand that this may be part of their standard protocol.
On a positive note, we loved the buffet, and the rooms were very comfortable. The complimentary drinks were a nice touch, and the playroom area was excellent—clearly designed with families in mind. It was also lovely to see the hotel organizing activities for children. During our stay, there was a special event (like a children’s appreciation day?), where me and my baby were able to participate in arts and crafts and even received small prizes, which made the experience extra memorable.
The swimming pool was decent, though not very large, and the water was quite cold, so we ended up enjoying the bathtub instead.
One area for improvement would be cleanliness. We noticed visible dust in the room, which was concerning—especially since the room is designed for small children, and for someone like me who is diagnosed with allergies to multiple types of dust mites. I did raise this with Lara at the lobby, who kindly apologized and mentioned she would inform housekeeping. However, upon transferring rooms the next day, I still noticed dust in certain areas, which made me question the thoroughness of the cleaning.
Separately, I also observed that some toiletries (such as conditioner and lotion) were nearly empty upon arrival, suggesting they may not have been checked or replenished prior to our stay.
Despite these points, we genuinely had a pleasant experience overall and would consider returning. I’m also excited and curious to see what the next theme for the family rooms will be after the renovations.From£168

Our stay at Green World Zhonghua was a mix of positives and disappointments.
The biggest advantage of this hotel is its excellent location. It is right in the heart of Ximending, with the Ximending Shopping District just across the street. There is also a 7-Eleven right beside the hotel, which is very convenient. If you’re arriving by MRT, the hotel entrance is located beside Exit X5, and you can also easily access it from Exits X4 and 5. It is definitely one of the best locations for exploring Taipei.
Unfortunately, our experience with the hotel itself was disappointing. Some of the staff were not very friendly and were extremely strict with the check-in policy. Check-in is exactly at 3:00 PM, and if you want to check in earlier, they charge TWD 300 per hour. We had just completed a 24-hour journey, arrived early in the morning with six pieces of luggage, and had to wait almost six hours. We completely understand that hotels have check-in policies, but considering how exhausted we were, a little flexibility or hospitality would have been appreciated.
What made it even more frustrating was that when we finally entered our room, it wasn’t clean. We found stains on the pillowcase and the bathroom was not properly cleaned. (Photos attached.) This was unacceptable, especially after waiting so long.
We booked a Standard Room for a seven-night stay, knowing it would be small, but we did not expect the air conditioning to stop working after only two days. Two maintenance staff attempted to repair it but were unable to fix the problem. We ended up using only a fan for the remainder of our stay. The hotel also had no water for one evening, which added to the inconvenience.
When we raised our concerns about the cleanliness and the air conditioning, the response from the staff was disappointing. Instead of offering a proper solution, they simply suggested that we cancel our reservation and move to another hotel. With our luggage and after everything we had already gone through, that was not a realistic option.
The breakfast was another letdown. The weekday menu was almost exactly the same every day, while weekends only had two or three different dishes. Considering the hotel’s location, I would actually recommend skipping the breakfast and eating outside instead. There are plenty of restaurants, cafés, and local food stalls nearby that offer much better food at reasonable prices.
Overall, I would rate this hotel mainly for its outstanding location. If convenience is your top priority, it’s hard to beat. However, based on our experience with the cleanliness, staff attitude, unresolved air conditioning issue, water outage, and repetitive breakfast, I don’t think we would choose to stay here again.From£45

I walked all the way to the end of the hall and couldn't find my room, so I had to turn back and eventually found it in the opposite direction. It was a bit frustrating. We just returned to the Philippines after a wonderful 10-day stay at Finders Hotel Qufian, and we truly couldn’t be happier with our experience. We came in not expecting much, but this hotel completely exceeded our expectations. The staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and made both check-in and check-out smooth and easy.
From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. We absolutely loved the ambience of the hotel, everything was clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, especially for families. Traveling with a child can sometimes be challenging, but this place had everything we needed.
The kids’ playroom was a highlight, our daughter loved it so much and genuinely enjoyed every moment of our stay. The room, while not very large, was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The temperature and heating were just right, making it very relaxing after long days of exploring.
The bed is more of a typical Asian-style mattress (not super soft), but it was perfectly fine for us and didn’t affect our comfort.
Breakfast was consistently excellent. We especially enjoyed the Chinese cuisine selection, and the unlimited beverages, coffee, snacks, and even noodles were such a thoughtful touch, perfect for those late-night cravings!
The WiFi was fast and reliable, which was important for me as I had online meetings and even did some Netflix streaming without any issues.
Location-wise, it’s fantastic, close to many of Taipei’s must-see attractions like Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, National Taiwan Museum, and 228 Peace Memorial Park (which we absolutely loved). It’s also conveniently near NTU Hospital Station, making it easy to get around the city. This is a hotel I would highly recommend, especially for families traveling with kids. In fact, I’ve already recommended it to friends!

This Hotel is a perfect choice, rooms are very spacious, bathroom is huge, location is great, it's close and easy to walk to Zongshan MRT station and this area has lots of great retail stores and restaurants , Taipei main station is walk-able around 1.2Km but if you are tired you will take a taxi, very convenient to take the express MRT from airport to Taipei main station in 35 minutes, there is a big supermarket right next to the hotel having very good stuff, there are a lot of 7 eleven and family mart stores around you, if you are a gym guy there are lots of 24h gyms near the hotel...also there is a 24h self service laundry store in front of the hotel....breakfast is great, I'm a egg lover guy and they serve perfect scrambled eggs, they also serve pineapples, passion fruit, home made yogurt and lots of good stuff, they have some Chinese items that you may not like, overall their breakfast is perfect....you can enjoy 24h free freshly brewed coffee at their lobby whenever you want and it's great....the only downside I noticed in their rooms is the lake of power outlets, there is only one row of power outlets on the front desk of the room, there are no outlets beside your bed or any where else which was really uncomfortable if you would like to charge your mobile or laptop while sitting on the bed.....sorry for my long review but I just enjoyed my stay there and wanted to share my experience in detailsFrom£33

Very good hotel in a very good location however the room smelt like mould. I was certainly it was coming from the air-conditioning as the second room that we got on our second stay do not smell the same. It was a special occasion however we had not gotten any special amenities despite at least three confirmation emails sent in advance. we had also checked in at 5 pm which as well beyond the check-in time however the room was not ready and check into around 20 minutes. The nail and the coffin was the spa that was undergoing maintenance which made it was not able to be used by its hotel guests . - Bubble tea, which was born right here.
- Taiwanese fried chicken, crispy and highly spiced.
- Stinky tofu, the most famous dish... and also the most controversial.
- Skewers, oyster omelettes, Taiwanese sausages and other classics at markets like Shilin, Raohe or Ningxia Night Market.
If you're not a fussy eater, there are also specialities like blood curd, offal, or traditional soups that you'll struggle to find outside of Taiwan. Here, for £2-£7 you can stuff yourself at street food stalls, and if you prefer to sit down in a mid-range restaurant, the bill will be around £9-£17.
For a bit more context, for a full dinner at Din Tai Fung or a more well-known spot, budget between £20 and £35—a price that wouldn't even get you close to a Michelin-starred restaurant in Hong Kong.
