This is a small boutique hotel classified as ‘rooms with restaurant’ and sited in a quiet conservation area that is probably one of the most affluent residential parts of Stirling. The hotel is constructed of local sandstone (in the Georgian style) and boasts large windows, high ceilings and other features you’d expect - clean, quiet, and comfortable. Rooms were warm, spacious and our sleep quality was excellent. In fact, all the staff couldn’t have been more helpful all the time we were there. Nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed lovely breakfasts as well as dinners in the attached restaurant. I liked the menu - where you could have a set meal at very reasonable prices if you wanted. Chef had prepared a very impressive lemon dessert designed for people with diabetes and I saw vegetarian and GF options listed as well. The wines were nicely selected too, and knowledgeable staff helped match with our courses very well. There were six parking spaces and behind the hotel and plenty of on street parking. Wi-Fi worked well for us in our rooms as well as the dining and drawing rooms downstairs. We did notice some dust at high level on the first day (I’m 189 cm in shoes so it’s easy for me to reach shower rails, door jambs and other dust traps), but this can be an issue with period houses and the team quickly fixed it. Our room was serviced daily and sparkling clean after that. Overall, the hotel offers a tranquil break in a superb location - convenient to the castle, golf course and other attractions along with great walks and views. Close to main shopping, cafes, and recommended local restaurants such as Hermann’s and The Indian Cottage. Well worth a stay and a meal if you are in the region!
