I’m very surprised by the relatively low rating of this hotel. We had a very good experience here, and found the room to be spacious and comfortable (though fairly typical old-school Japanese hotel). Service was good overall and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel is located in the best part of Asahikawa, near the main train station and the very cool and fun shopping street. The hotel also has an outdoor parking lot located immediately behind the hotel. Our only hiccup was that we arrived slightly before the 1500 check in time (we arrived at 1440) and were told we had to wait until exactly 1500 to check in. This is Japan and I appreciate being a stickler for the rules, but sometimes good customer service is about making calculated exceptions. Maybe next time. We would certainly recommend this place to others.

Too bad there's no free parking from the hotel but there's a few choices of paid parking areas around the hotel, the parking area without roof opposite hotel is cheaper than the one in the building. It is a short walk from JR Asahikawa Station, and there are several convenience stores around. The size of the room is not small for the price, and the minimum amenities are available. Considering that, I think Cospa is also good. But something unprecedented happened that I had never experienced before. I went sightseeing for a few hours after checking out, so when I tried to leave my luggage, I was refused. First experience using more than 100 business hotels. I was stunned by shock.

It is a little far from the station, but it is not a distance that can't walk. There were drinkers and restaurants nearby. The room is old, not clean, and the outside of the window is the wall of the next building. It was a room with an extra bed (total ３ floor) set in a large double (there was an explanation from the hotel side at check-in), and it was difficult to walk in the room, and it felt narrow. A little arrangement in the room? Some places, but there were old but necessary things, and there was no inconvenience. I thought it was a general commercial business hotel, not for resort travel in Hokkaido.

I haven't traveled abroad much, but I think it's a really good hotel. Putting everything else aside, I really like the open-air bath in the large public bath. I went on a snowy day, and as I was soaking in the hot spring water while it was snowing, I felt like my worries were disappearing. There is no need to go to a ryokan. Even if you don't speak Japanese, they respond in English and the staff are all friendly. I stayed warm because I could control the room temperature myself. Breakfast is also good. You can make kaisendon with clams, flounder, salmon, and salmon roe, and there are many other things you can eat. It's a bit far from Asahikawa Station. It was a little difficult to drag the suitcase onto the snow-covered sidewalk on a snowy day. Other than that it was really good. I plan to visit again next time I go to Asahikawa.
