We arrived in Male on a day of a big storm which made boat transfers to the resort impossible. Patina's airport reception team led by Areef, briefed us on the weather situation that is a rare occurance, and made sure we got a spot to have lunch and think through the available options. Instead of waiting in the airport for the seas to calm down, he checked us into the airport hotel nearby and got us a suite for our family of 4. We spent 2 hours in the hotel and assumed we would be spending the night, when Areef gave us a call to inform us that he got us a window where local authorities allowed boat transfers to commence. We made the decision to head out despite the inclement weather. The sea was very choppy and the boat ride got our son sea sick. After 90 minutes we finally arrived at Patina resort to a warm welcome. We were taken by our resort Essentialist, Toto, straight to our villa where we did a quick and easy check in. He also had already precooked a restaurant for our dinner, so we could head straight to dinner as well after such a long day of travel. The weather was not so kind to us the next couple days so we could not engage in any water activities, but our kids nevertheless enjoyed the pool and beach every morning after breakfast. Not to mention the amazing kids club at the resort with different activities each hour and a good staff to kid ratio. What stood out most in this resort is the attentiveness of all staff we came across. Their warmth and energy from breakfast till the evening is commendable. Many remember us by name, and I'm embarrassed to say I struggle to remember as many of them, but to name a few like Ronny (who always served us at the pool), Julio (whom we had a good chat with during cocktail night), and Toto who assisted us with every need throughout our stay. Also to recognise all the staff we met during our meals, many I would recognise but I am just bad with names. Service was top notch, they even recall the wine I ordered for dinner the day before. Food at all the different restaurants, burger truck and breakfast buffet was great. Never had consistently good meals for a full board resort before. Last but not least, first time the hotel rooms look much bigger than they look in the photos. We leave Patina Maldives thinking we would come back again, even though there are many other resorts and islands to visit in the Maldives when we do return, because our kids definitely want to despite all their complaints on the arrival day.
