This charming hotel was in the ideal spot, in the heart of Harrogate. The staff make the initial great impression, very welcoming, helpful and approachable. The reception, drawing room, dining areas are beautifully decorated and well presented. Soon as you hit the bedroom floors you start to see that it's a little run down, specifically the carpets could do with a replacement and walls could have a refreshed lick of paint. My room on the 1st floor definitely seen better days and the walls are very thin and the lights are on all night in hallway which isn't great and you will be guaranteed a sleepless night unless you're a deep sleeper. They do provide you with ear plugs and cover set for your eyes but it wasn't much helpful in my case unfortunately. The room itself is well equipped with a fan which I appreciated as the rooms get very warm at night and there was no hope in opening the windows. Please clean the bins thoroughly as the limescale on the bathroom bin in room 126 was bit gross. I do hope that there are future plans to redecorate the bedrooms and hallway as this would really lift the hotel to a better standard. Breakfast was great and the menu throughout the day must change regularly as you can only view once you arrive. There is a bar menu and 3 course dining menu. The bar menu is recommended as it has a variety of choice for all types of taste buds. I would come back as overall it did meet my needs, just don't expect that this is a 4star hotel, it's the service and location that make this hotel a good stay.

Greeted with a friendly face and directed to reception. It’s a massive hotel old but clean and interesting. Our room 333 over looking the back of the hotel green lawn. The only thing I wasn’t keen on was the tea making facilities, which were polostrine cups like takeaway ones. Maybe from Covid, and the tea milk and sugar in a tied up bag, no tray. But later on we ordered sandwiches from the bar and he said that he could get them to our room if we wanted to rather than wait in the bar for them. That’s when I asked for a real cup and he said that he would send two up with our sandwiches. Nothing is to much trouble, I would and will be staying here again.

Stayed for a couple of nights as one of us was at a conference, so hotel convenient for the conference centre. Excellent room with plenty of space. Arrived 10 minutes before check in - guy in reception opened bar for us so we could get a drink (instead of paying to check in early!) Excellent choice for breakfast, one of us had a birthday and the staff member on duty brought a small gift, nice and unexpected! The only downside was the limited choice for evening meals, however it’s mainly guests not folks walking in so to be expected. Parking ok, once you find your way in (drove past it the first time).

Wonderful - everything you need and more in this fantastic apartment. Super comfortable beds, spotlessly clean, well equipped kitchen - even had a dishwasher! Owners are so nice, and really have thought of everything to make your stay fabulous. Location is so convenient for shops, restaurants, train station and Convention Centre. This was our third time staying here, and thoroughly recommend the apartments if you come to visit Harrogate

We had been looking forward to staying in an up-market four-star hotel in up-market Harrogate; we were sorely disappointed. Things started to go wrong before we checked-in; we enquired about secure parking; we were told that the secure parking was directly in front of the hotel, not our idea of secure. We were, somewhat curtly, informed that it was full and that we would have to park on the street. No mention was made of use of the off-street parking availability at the sister hotel a few hundred meters down the hill, which we later understood could be used at the residents’ rate (£15 per night). We checked in to our “Deluxe Double Room”, our idea of “deluxe” is at complete variance to what we found; there was absolutely nothing deluxe about the room. The heating was off and the room cold. It was sp****ly furnished with, furniture that at best was Ikea, but more likely MFI. The windows were ill-fitting and had large gaps at the sides and bottom, allowing cold air in. The bathroom was sp****ly equipped with taps that are more style than functionality, it was impossible to turn the shower tap off with wet hands. The toilet seat was loose. The towel rail barely took the chill off the room. The room was not serviced on day two, for no apparent reason. We were later informed that the room was deluxe as it has a view to the front. The breakfast facilities are grossly inadequate, such that guests are required to request an allocated time. The self-service area is cramped and congested. There was only one toasting machine that required the bread to be put in twice to achieve acceptable results, increasing the congestion. We were allocated a slot towards the end of the breakfast period, some of the cooked food was not available and we were told that because it was the end of breakfast, no more would be cooked. Very far divorced from four-star service. To my mind, an English breakfast requires marmalade, the little pots of orange coloured jelly are what I might expect in a cheap boarding-house, not a four-star hotel. This hotel is one to avoid, it lets Harrogate and Yorkshire down in a big way. p.s I sent a copy of this to the duty managers for their comment before I posted it; they did not bother to reply.

I had a four night stay in a double room in this lovely city centre hotel. Check in was friendly and efficient and my room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. Refreshments and toiletries were of a good standard and housekeeping was great during my stay. I loved the robe and slippers! The buffet style breakfast was terrific - fresh, varied and tasty - with the ability to order extra/specific items. I used the bar once and liked the variety of beverages on offer and the service was good. The rail station is only a 10-15 minute walk away, with shopping and lots of restuarants only 10 mins walk away, and all the tourist sites within 10-20mins of the hotel. There is a busy conference centre next door and there was building work going on, but this didn't affect my sleep quality - the beds are amazing!
