visit there with my family. we had 2 rooms with massage chair and espresso machine. Onsen was pretty good. huge rock and plate are excellent and have a history. nice local and traditional dinner was served. there was a roof top and good for chilling. kind of bothered me that i had to walk a bit to parking spot.

大大名上杉家代々の御用達のお湯屋を発祥とする旅館だけあって、男湯女湯（朝夕で交換）とも大きな石風呂が素晴らしく、全部で11の風呂（サウナ含む）がある。泉質は強酸性の硫黄湯であるが、それほど匂いはきつくない。今回は雪が降っていたので、雪見露天風呂が堪能出来た。料理は山形牛を中心とした和食、朝食は焼き魚、そして地元の芋汁が美味、量も十分である。また館内には上杉家の資料室や、写真用の兜や陣羽織、刀槍を自由に使って自撮りができるサービスもある。ホスピタリティも問題なかった。 今回二部屋ある最大の部屋に宿泊したが、大人４人でも充分に広く、また無料の全身マッサージマシンが装備されていて嬉しかった。

380余年の歴史を持つ、上杉家の元別荘です。ウェルカム梅ジュース、お酒、ワイン。昔話を映像で見ることができるお部屋での入浴後のラムネ。夕食後のケーキ、マッサージチェアなど、無料のサービスがいくつもありました。12種類のお風呂、飲泉所もあります。食事は、夕朝食とも同じ個室。

家族五人で一泊しました。380年の歴史のある上杉の別邸だったという宿で前から気になっていて今回ようやく泊まることができました。増築、建て直しを繰り返したせいか、若干ごちゃごちゃした作りになっていて、建物が古いのは否めません（っていうか古いのがこの宿のいいところ）。全体的なホスピタリティはとてもいいです。あえて山形弁を織り交ぜいい感じの接客をしています。夕食の給仕も含め、サービスは問題ありません。部屋は....やっぱり古い感じが全面に出ちゃいます。清潔感はありますが、独特の匂いがあったりハウスダスト感があって、みんなくしゃみ、鼻水が....。長男はアトピー体質のため夜中にボリボリ。ただこの点以外はとてもいいです。鎧の展示や裏山の探検、昔話の上映、ラムネサービス、ワイン試飲など試しめるところが満載です。是非、早めにチェックインしていろいろ楽しんでください。子供も大喜びでした。この宿で一番いいところは温泉です。洗い場もとても綺麗で、非常に大きな岩風呂があり、泉質もとてもいいです（硫黄泉だけど弱アルカリ）。温泉は特徴あるので是非おすすめです。非常にユニークな宿で来客をとにかく楽しませよう、というスタンスが全面に出ています。部屋が古い以外は大満足でした。
