"Hotel was lovely, right on the beach and could to the local shops. We had a terrible issue with flies, and even though we ensured all the doors and windows remained closed, these tiny flies still appeared from the drains. We had to ask the staff to come every evening to help (which they did) but it wasn’t the best welcome back after a day out to have flies on all our personal belongings, especially when the main area was in the bathroom."

"Very good location and evironment but it would be better if the staff have more sevice mind. The staffs at the reaturant are very nice but the shutter driver (the smoking man, night shift I guess) weren’t very friendly which almost ruin the whole vibes. We have to wait until he finish smoking when he could drive us to the beach after and his mood airn’t very friendly. After all I really love the location and evironment, wish they could improve the service mind when I go back next time."

"I really liked the hotel. All impressions are only in the superlative degree! Clean, cozy, beautiful everywhere. Trained friendly staff. Very tasty and varied breakfasts with beautiful views. We were there for the first time. In the wishes I indicated that the day before in our family there were two events: my husband's birthday and a wedding anniversary. When checking in, we were very impressed that the hotel congratulated us on these (recently passed) family dates. We will definitely return to this hotel and will recommend it to others."

"When you book room it only says it’s “Hillside. What it doesn’t say is that it’s across the busy (main) road. So in this case you no longer book room in tje hotel located at the beach. Tie “hillside” complex was completely unattended. No pool bar, nobody at the “reception” despite 100% occupancy and middle of high season. Location across the road made it unable for our early teens to reach room “for something” while we were on the beach. Every time somebody had to escort them. The extra paid “pool view” from our room was also completely dissatisfying. Once we complained about location of room during check in, after Front Office Manager checked source or our booking (Trip.com), she immediately rejected any complain saying that location of the room should be made clear by agent (it’s nowhere in the description when we booked the room). Beware booking room in this property - it is split in two separate complexes."

"We've been coming to this hotel since it was names the Sea View. The new management has done some great things, but hopefully they'll continue their improvements. The service is stellar, from the moment you walk through the door, to the time you leave, everyone is helpful, professional, and happy to help. The beach is clean, the area is quiet, and it's never crowded. Ideal for anyone looking for a calm place to read and relax. Every room faces the ocean, and the views are stunning. The two areas of improvement are: Renovating the rest of building B. It seems that the first floor has been renovated, but floors two and three are still the same ones like before. Improving the breakfast. The previous owners offered the best breakfast on the island. The current breakfast seems a bit quickly put together, not befitting a place like the Sylvan. In spite of these two things, we would stay there again and again. I hope this helps."

"The hotel is not bad, there is nowhere to swim, the beach is rocky. A moped and nearby beaches help out. When booking, a double or two single beds were indicated, we chose two single beds, in the end we stayed in a room with a double bed. A small thing ruined the birthday. The trip hotline did not solve the problem, nor did the hotel administration. They cleaned every day, the pool is not big, the breakfasts are tolerable."

"Professional service. Maybe the hotel is a little smaller. The few days I went with my wife there were hardly any customers. . . Exclusive access to the rooftop swimming pool. . . . . Very cool. . . Hahaha"

"It is sad to see how hard it is for owners to maintain hotels without tourists. Beautiful place, the territory is looked after, although the pool does not look very good. The rooms and equipment are old, the TV is 20 years old. No kettle, hair dryer, shampoo, only small soap. The bathroom is a bit dirty and dark. The air conditioner does not work well, does not cool to the desired temperature. The staff is very responsive. In general, for this money for 1-2 nights is normal."

"Originally booked on booking, the reservation was unsuccessful. I specially came to Trip.com to see if there is this hotel. Because Xiangdao is relatively niche, the reservation was successful and the date was wrong. The housekeeper also helped to contact the hotel for more check-in dates. It was still a big Trip.com! The hotel is too much beyond expectations. I thought it would be open for a long time, but the price is very high. I have my own private beach. It is great to watch the sunset. It is a foreigner's holiday. I am very good at the front desk. I have heard the best Thai English. After returning home, I still miss her a little, and I will choose brail when I have the opportunity to go to Xiangdao again."
