So happy to see Hualian Charming Hotel as I walked out of Hualian Train Station, and the main bus stop is between the two buildings. Despite its proximity it is surprisingly quiet. Superb location for intercity travelling plus exploring the city by bus and to Taroko. Lots of eateries, souvenir shops and Family Mart and 7 Eleven. Can't ask for more. Hot and cold breakfast has meat and vegetarian selections, coffees and teas, and salads. No fuss check in and out, complimentary biscuits and hot drinks in the lobby until 8.00 PM. Rooms are spacious and clean, good range of shampoo and shower gel; can't ask for more.

Location: Close to the train station Cleanliness: All clean. Service: Very friendly, I asked about nearby food and they gave me recommendations (explaining which options are both good and bad). Facilities: Water, drinks and snacks were very helpful. Bikes to borrow on a first-come-first-served basis. There were 4 available during my stay. Luggage storage was free and useful. I ended up storing 3 items both before check-in and after check-out. Overall was surpsised by big size of room, shower was quite large.

It was quite late when we arrived on the first day, and the hostess had prepared a video tutorial on how to check in on our own, which was very thoughtful. Also, during our stay, I went missing an earring, and when we were about to leave Hualien, the hostess proactively informed us that she had found it in the room. She had also cleaned and tidied the room very carefully, so I was really grateful. In addition, the room was spacious, bright, and clean, making it a highly recommended first choice for accommodation.

The hotel is located at the back of the station, but because of the name of the hotel, I thought it was near Dongdaemun Night Market when I booked the room, but it's not far to the night market by bike~~ The room was clean and very comfortable.

Excellent
It was a great stay at HOLA Homestay! We booked the family room for our family of four, and was thrilled when we entered the cosy room on our first day. The balcony was facing the sea and we could see the sunrise from our bed! Before our stay, I already had a very good experience with the owner, who provided 5-star service to me, by helping me to make reservation at a famous restaurant (which only accepts phone reservations) and arrange for transport. He also helped us with the checks on whale watching tours etc. Breakfast was served hot just when we reached and with a spread, including local delicacies like gong zheng bao zi and scallion pancake, freshly roasted coffee, vege and fruits, and even bread and muffins if we wanted more. While we need to walk abit to the nearest 7-11, it was a comfortable walk in this cooling weather, just that it can get a little dark at night. Might still be better to get a taxi if possible. There’s a 055 seafood near the 7-11 which was really gd and frequented by locals too!

This is a nice hotel. It is clean and welcoming. I did not try the food there. The seaview is not really worth as it is too far from the sea, but the rooms are a good size. The staff were friendly. Just make sure you message the staff 24 hours in advance to book a free transfer. They would not provide a same day service. Overall, a good hotel. About 3km from downtown. I did not mind walking, but taxis are cheap.

Updates: I had a great stay at Fullon Hotel Hualien. The room was spacious, comfortable, and has awesome view of the harbor. The location is ideal for me—close to the coast, at the start of the bike trail, and in a peaceful area. I loved being able to borrow a bike from the hotel, making it easy to explore the bike-friendly town. The staff was friendly and attentive. Even those who didn’t speak English used Google Translate to communicate, which I appreciated. The only downside was difficulty reaching the hotel before my arrival to confirm the station pick-up, which wasn’t sorted out and confirmed until the day before I arrived. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend this hotel. Most likely will stay here again next time I'm in Hualien. Hopefully, I can reach them easier next time. ==================== 2025/01/13: Impossible to contact as a foreign visitor. I tried to send messages to the hotel via both email and LINE that were listed on their website since I don't live in TW. I tried to arrange for their pick up service from Hualien Station which is included with my stay. I have sent my inquiry for the details. I finally managed to get messages back one time via LINE after a day with a website that's not in English and a picture showing only a phone number for booking. At least the hotel didn't ask me to do international phone call and finally said I can request the booking with them via the LINE channel. So I sent the booking request with details. That was 3 days ago. And I have not received any message back or heard a peep from them. So I assume the service is still not booked. Not that the free ride matters since I should be able to get a cab easily, but the service, especially what's promise and the helpfulness of the staff, is quite underwhelming and on the side of not hospitable. For the same trip, I also had to reach out to Tango Hotel Taipei. They were very helpful with my inquiry and very fast. Hopefully the stay is nice. I'll come back to update my review then.

As soon as I arrived, the prison theme instantly caught my attention. The rooms were designed to resemble prison cells, which added an intriguing and immersive element to my stay. One thing that stood out to me was the absence of a traditional reception desk. Instead, to gain entry, all guests need to do is call the contact number provided, which adds a touch of mystery to the experience. The lady working there was exceptionally helpful and patient, even taking the time to explain how to use the facilities in Chinese. Her assistance made my stay all the more enjoyable. As a solo traveler, I couldn't help but appreciate the eerie vibes that the place exudes, especially since I'm a fan of horror. Every night, I found myself immersed in an atmosphere that perfectly catered to my taste. It's not often that you come across a hostel that provides such a unique and thrilling ambiance. It was absolutely fantastic! The host, David, is so kind and helpful in getting to know the island and answering all your questions. You can rent a scooter (including e-scooters, no license required) and explore the island. Everything was very clean and in excellent condition! I would love to come back here again.
