The best location we could ask for in Amsterdam, plus very affordable.
The only cons are that there's no elevator, but that goes with all the old buildings in the area anyways.
Really enjoyed the stay.

The hotel is right next to the concert hall. From the central station, take tram line 26 for one stop, then it's a 200-meter walk across the bridge to the ground floor on the other side. They gave me a river view room, and the scenery was absolutely stunning – truly a 'wow' moment when I opened the door. Breakfast was also very rich and varied. I booked early, so the price was quite reasonable. It was definitely the best hotel experience I had among all the places I stayed on this business trip.

The beds were very clean, and I didn't find any bed bugs. The facilities seem to have been recently renovated, as the shower and toilet are new. The location is also convenient, just a 20-minute tram ride directly from Amsterdam Central Station, and within a 40-minute walk of the city center. There are a few cafes nearby as well. The front desk staff were friendly and kind, speaking slowly in English for Japanese guests. Plus, there's a gym with a cable machine and a bench, so you can at least get an arm workout in. I highly recommend this hostel.

It’s just a 3-minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station, and if you don’t feel like walking, trams, trains, and buses are all nearby, so everything is very well connected. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back :) the view from the room loved it

The hotel's location is excellent, right next to Amsterdam Central Station, making it super convenient for public transport like buses, trains, trams, and ferries. From the airport, you can just tap your bank card (with a contactless symbol) to enter and exit the stations. Just remember to always check in and check out, or else you'll be charged for the entire route! The hotel charges a 200 Euro deposit upon check-in, and the water in the room's mini-fridge is not complimentary. Chinatown and [Red Light District] are both within walking distance. You can also easily take a train to The Hague and Rotterdam; both are close enough for a day trip.

It is really small, and room only have half of one floor height for sleeping, really like sleeping in a box. And if you bring any luggage, you need to consider can it be open in that small place. And u need to shared the bathroom with others, and it do not separate the male or female one. All sex are using the same bathroom.

The hotel room was very nice, unfortunately there is no ventilation and some had smoked before our stay. Fortunately the hotel staff was ver helpful and found us ventilators to make the air flow inside the room. The room was clean and had a lot of space which is not very common in Amsterdam

Great location! The only downside is that there are stairs in the room, so you have to carry your luggage up. Other than that, everything was fine.

Great
JJessePoonLocated canalside, the hotel offers beautiful river views and stunning sunsets from its upper floors. It's conveniently situated right by a subway station, not too far from the city center, yet surprisingly quiet. However, the 25-euro breakfast felt a bit expensive for the limited options available. Despite this, the hotel's ambiance is very pleasant.
XXihuanshenghuodenanshengThis might be considered a hotel with good value for money in Amsterdam, which explains why many Chinese tourists stay here. Once you get the hang of it, the transportation is actually quite convenient. It has a kitchen, which is great for cooking your own meals. The lighting isn't too bright, and the room was relatively quiet (we weren't assigned a room facing the train station). The surrounding area also feels very safe. However, I'd recommend doing your shopping in the city center before returning, as shopping options near the hotel aren't great. Overall, it's excellent value for money and a decent choice.
AAnonymous UserWe stayed at Novotel Amsterdam City in standard twin rooms for a family holiday (6 of us), and overall it was a great experience. Mr. Oman at the reception was super friendly and gave us a warm welcome during check-in. He also helped make sure all our requests were met; connecting rooms, 2 single beds, same floor, and next to each other. Really appreciated that!
The only downside was one male receptionist (Middle Eastern-looking) who didn’t seem very welcoming. He was quite passive and seemed unwilling when I asked for help with temporarily storing our luggage.
WWhenTracyTravelsI had an amazing stay with my partner in this hotel. :)
Check-in was a breeze. All the front desk staff were so nice and lovely. One time, I ask if they have salt and pepper and they had unopened salt and pepper mills sent to the room.
Room is big with plenty of amenities. Big closet storage with multiple hangers. Big mirror. Iron+ironboard. 2 hair dryers (1 in the closet drawer and 1 in bathroom). Big safe for valuables. Mini bar and coffee machine. Free bottle of water on each bedside. Bed is huge. Advertised as king sized but it is actually a super king! I had the best sleep every night as the bed was so comfortable. Had 4 huge pillows too. Big window too!
The bathroom had a big bathtub, big mirror with good lighting.
Will definitely stay here when we visit Amsterdam again.
We also left our luggages for free when we checked out.
MM506604****This was my first time staying in a dormitory, and although it was only for one night, which might not be a full experience, it was better than I expected:
1. I was the first to check in, and the room was generally neat and clean.
2. The room had a window (which couldn't open), decent lighting, and each bed had a small lamp and a charging socket.
3. Guests make their own beds upon arrival, which prevents them from getting dirty if made up in advance.
4. The room has separate shower rooms and toilets, so their use doesn't interfere with each other.
5. Each bunk comes with a locker (Figure 5), which you can secure yourself. Locks are available for purchase at the front desk.
6. For luggage that doesn't fit in the room, the hotel provides free storage lockers (Figures 6-8). Figures 9-12 show the common areas.
Areas for improvement:
(Figure 4) The showerhead in the shower room is fixed high on the wall. The water pressure was weak during showering, and there was no way to adjust it, even with the water flow control switch at its maximum setting.
CCJulyaThe location was effortless, close to everything yet calm enough to breathe after long meetings. The canals, the rhythm of bicycles, the soft sound of the city in the morning, everything seemed to move in harmony.
The room was clean, warm, and simple in a way that felt grounding. After days filled with conversations and deadlines, returning to that space felt like a quiet reset.
The staff were genuinely kind, always ready to help with a smile that made every interaction feel human. There is a sense of quiet care that you can feel, and it stays with you.
Thank you Ibis Amsterdam for being more than a hotel. You were a pause, a reminder that even in the middle of business and movement, there is always space for stillness and heart.
GGuest UserWe stayed at this hotel with our child. Overall the stay was fine and the beds were very comfortable, so we slept well. The area is great – quiet, safe and close to shops and cafés.
However, the room was a bit cold and our child got chilly at night. There were no carpets on the floor, so our socks were always getting dirty and the floor felt dusty. The breakfast was also quite weak, with a rather limited selection.
In general it was an okay stay, but with a warmer room, better floor cleanliness and a stronger breakfast, the experience could be much better.

The room carried a gentle, welcoming atmosphere and stayed clean and comfortable the whole time. Settling in was effortless, with a soft bed, warm lighting, and a layout that made relaxing come naturally. Everything in the space functioned smoothly, with no minor issues to deal with. The staff were quietly professional, easy to approach, helpful when needed, and never overbearing. Their steady presence made each interaction feel natural and uncomplicated. From arrival to departure, the service stayed consistent and efficient. Even small requests were handled quickly and without fuss. The overall environment had a calm, reassuring feel that set a pleasant tone for the stay. In the end, it proved to be a straightforward, restful place to unwind, offering comfort without any unnecessary complications.
JJessieLjjTransiting through Amsterdam on our way to Madrid, this hotel was okay for a one-night stay. Hotels were surprisingly expensive this week, so we couldn't expect too much for a triple room costing around 500-600 euros. I brought my own disposable sheets to put over the bed. The kettle and other amenities looked a bit dirty, so I didn't use them. I also brought my own hairdryer. Not having slippers was quite inconvenient, but I guess that's normal in Europe. Even the city-center hotel apartments we stayed at later in Madrid and Barcelona didn't provide them; I only got to wear slippers when we reached a five-star hotel in Segovia.
The private bathroom was separate from the room, which was a bit inconvenient, but I knew that when booking.
Also, because I woke up so early, I decided to walk to the canals. It was quite a long walk, about three kilometers, actually.
LloreleikvltWe had been really concerned after pre paying this hotel then reading bad reviews that had us convinced we would need to wear plastic suits the entire visit,, so I thought I'd give my review based around the concerns we had read, to try and be helpful ! some of the things were true , the sheets did come off the bed on mine but I wiggle but my friends both stayed on their beds. super annoying but I just slid it back on and you can always throw your cover over it instead and ask for another . Fortunately we didn't come across the bed bugs people mentioned !, the cat seemed happy and not flea ridden.. however the room was clean enough , no obvious mould. The beds were comfortable enough. The bathroom was clean and quite nice
It wasn't huge but had ample.space for our things in the triple person room .
It's an old building with narrow windy stairs I'm glad the elevator worked. it's not a relax and sit in all day hotel..it's a place to sleep , shower ...charge your phone and keep your belongings.
The coffee machine was fine as far as basic goes.
The staff were fine
There was a fifty euro deposit on the desk, we just asked for a receipt after other things mentioned in reviews and were given a written one with no problem on leaving . We were offered one free housekeeping day as we stayed 4 nights but opted not to use it due to theft mentioned in reviews..
We stayed at the main hotel so I don't know if all the bad reviews were from the other or we just got lucky with our room but we had no problems, and when I went rustling down before hours looking for coffee the guy did help me before reception opened.
It's no paradise of a place , there are marks on the walls but faint...if you're fussy it's not the place for you but for the price and location, we really didn't mind it . It's a super great location as a base with a trendy area behind it
And a really cool vegan restaurant a tiny walk away a pub downstairs and metro train a stone's throw away
If you have the option to pay on arrival ask to see.your room first.you could take that route
Just to be safe, but all up it was fine..3 women travelling together there was no unsafe feeling there .
We didn't find it noisy.
