SpringHill Suites New Orleans Downtown/Canal Street

New Orleans|0.48km from Community Pharmacy
We really enjoyed a recent stay at this location - conveniently located downtown and within walking distance to several streetcar stops. The lobby is representative of NOLA and trendy. From the beginning, we were greeted by friendly staff and thanked for our Marriott status/loyalty. The rooms were clean and comfortable. My only ”compliant” is that they are too trendy - there is not enough counter space in the bathroom when it's clearly large enough to have a large vanity and countertop. The bathroom amenities were very nice: lavender & eucalyptus. The room was equipped with a Kureig, refrigerator and microwave. The beds were very comfortable and we had a great view of the downtown area. The feather pillows were terrible. I honestly don't know why hotels continue to use these pillows that look great and immediately deflate as soon as you lay your head down. We had one small issue with the TV which was quickly remedied. We did not have enough towels/pillows which was also quickly remedied. The breakfast is really good and had healthy options (egg white quiche) as well as indulgent (waffles and muffins). Although there is a parking lot directly next to the hotel, with a large sign that reads: Hotel Guests $10, self-parking requires you to park across the street and down one block (in an unsecured lot). This is very confusing and I wouldn't have minded so much if the lot was secured, but there are a lot of pedestrians and homeless in the area, so it's a pain if you have to return to your vehicle.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the TownePlace Suites on Canal Street! All of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed! Hotel was clean and well kept; rooms were spacious and beds were super comfortable! My only suggestion would be to stock up on food & snacks (in the awesome full-sized refrigerator!). Late at night there are not many places to walk to and there is no dining service in the hotel (though there is a well-appointed convenience shop in the lobby). This hotel is in easy walking distance from the theater and the French Quarter/Bourbon Street. It is also only a few blocks from the convenient trolley! Thanks again for a really lovely stay. I hope to be back soon!

Checking in was not a problem to begin with. None of housekeeping spoke English. There were piles of towels in the hallway and loads of people standing outside the front entrance of the hotel, smoking..Not so much attractive in front of the entrance when there are those who do not smoke. Next, parking is $32/day which is a bit much depending on your stay - then there are parking lots for $20/but you will have to pay every time you come and go. I was told I could pay from valet in cash - but my card still ended up getting charged, I have called since Checkout, left voicemails, keep getting told that the manager isn't there an to call back. Well, here we are still going on almost a week and have not received a phone call in regard to my issue nor a receipt for my stay which I have asked for since my checkout was at 2am. On the upside, you are walking distance to many great spots an the streetcar is right in front of the hotel.

This was a stop over as our train stopped for the night in New Orleans and was to leave out in the morning. We arrived very late as our train had been delayed and staff was very helpful in getting us checked in. The room was quite comfortable. It had a refrigerator but no microwave which we would have greatly appreciated. We had to be up early to catch our train and we were unable to have a hot breakfast due to the lack of the microwave. Other than that, everything was fine. Hope to come back when we can stay longer.
