Hotel Santika Premiere Padang

In my frequent travels to Padang for business, I have had the opportunity to stay in several hotels in the city. Of them all, I can confidently say that Santika Hotel Padang stands out as the best choice, particularly for foreign visitors. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the warm, welcoming atmosphere that resonates throughout the hotel. The staff is incredibly friendly, always greeting guests with a smile and going above and beyond to ensure we feel at home. Their excellent command of English is a bonus for foreign travelers, making communication seamless and comfortable. The rooms at Santika Hotel are spacious, well-appointed, and immaculately clean. The beds are particularly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep after a long day of meetings. The complimentary Wi-Fi is reliable and fast, which is essential for business travelers like myself. The hotel's location is another great advantage. It's conveniently situated close to business centers and local attractions, which makes exploring the city a breeze during downtime. Their concierge service was knowledgeable and incredibly helpful in recommending places to visit and arranging transportation. The hotel's restaurant is worth mentioning too, serving a variety of local and international cuisine that caters to diverse taste buds. The breakfast spread was particularly impressive, providing a great start to the day. There are some minor areas of improvement, as with any establishment, but these were so negligible that they did not impact my overall experience. In conclusion, Santika Hotel Padang has become my go-to choice when visiting the city. The combination of excellent service, comfortable accommodation, convenient location, and an array of amenities makes it the best option, in my opinion, especially for foreign visitors. I am looking forward to my next stay and would highly recommend it to other travelers.

Can't recommend this hotel enough. A truly delightful experience from check in to check out. The friendly staff were always smiling and making sure our experience here was of the highest standard, especially Alfano who appears to have been born to be a hotel manager. The rooftop pool provides a fantastic view of the ocean, surrounding jungle and the sprawling city of Padang. The food was great in the restaurants and the basement bar and pool room was a great way to relax with cold beers and a game of billiards. Definitely coming back.

on all of my West Sumatra motorcycle road trips so far, i had never really visited the town of Padang, preferring to use the bypass road on my way to the southern side of this amazing west coast... towns are not my favourites, being usually hot & crowded... but this time i decided to bite the bullet, for the sake of checking the old town of Padang, with its rich history and exceptional heritage display... and for this, what better base camp to choose, but the town's oldest operating hotel: Hotel Padang! this hotel has the charmingly obsolete look of Indonesian accommodation dating from the colonial times,... it is well located, halfway between the old and the newer areas of town, a single storey goup of buildings on spacious and green grounds... i got room number 1, which has been tastefully renovated recently, with all modern amenities and nice veranda seating; the iron horse got a safe shelter too, a specific motorcycle parking area, under a roof... service staff are relaxed and friendly... breakfast is included in the reasonable room rate... bank atm, convenience store, laundry, cafés & warungs are all within walking distance... and to visit the touristy spots, nothing beats GoJek rides, which always ended up to be around Rp.10k... i would have been happy to give Hotel Padang a 5-dot rating, for the pleasant experience i had... but i still feel that the 4-dot should work better, as a motivation to make the small improvements that will lead this place to classical perfection...
Mercure Padang

SURFERS BEWARE. If you are booking for a surf trip, I would highly suggest looking elsewhere. This hotel is completely unorganized, will lose your bag, and tell you ”too bad” with 0 compensation. Mercure Hotel gave me a claim tag for my surfboard bag with my name all over it, and still managed to mess that up and give my bag to someone else flying to another country. You will see walking into the hotel how unorganized the bag situation is. It took 5 days for them just to recover the bag. When the bag was returned, stuff in my bag was stolen including all of my fins which were needed to surf. This hotel single handedly managed to ruin a surf trip I saved up and planned for a year in less than 12 hours of me staying at the hotel. What is even more pathetic, they also refused to reimburse me for only a few sets of the fins, which is all I requested. I was incredibly patient, waited 11 days for them to get this figured out all for them to tell me sorry, we'll comp your room upon return. Comically bad experience Also, they play thumping music until 5am which other reviews have alluded to, so if you do not want that, find lodging elsewhere. One of the managers deletes their messages every 24 hrs, but here is a screenshot showing the basis of their communication, responded every few days with ”checking” or ”I'll let you know later”.
