I have resisted to write a review for Plas Talgarth as the receptionist who dealt with my complaint was so helpful and the the duty manager seemed to support my complaint; but unfortunately terms which were agreed to by Plas Talgarth and MacDonald resorts have not been met (full refund within 3-5 days). We arrived to a very dirty accomodation. It was significantly below standard and general expectation. The bed sheets were stained with yellow marks (questionable), mould on bedside lamps, rust on bedside lamps, cracks in the infrastructure, unclean kitchen appliances including fridge, cooker and toaster, damp marks on the walls, general dirt on walls/switches, staining on carpets, staining on walls, faeces in toilet, a strong fish odour, food deposits in drawers including cutlery tray, questionable brown particles over shower curtains etc. It was disgusting! The children bedrooms were downstairs next to a random sauna, bathroom and the front door. Both the children would have had access to given there was no stair gate. This is incredibly dangerous. One positive, the view from the accommodation was gorgeous. As we arrived to the accomodation at 11.15pm, we had no choice to stay with 2 young infants. We had to use our own makeshift bed covers from items that we used on travel and for cooking and sterilising bottles we used our own items from our car as we did not want to use anything that was unclean (which was most of the accommodation). This again, was not to standard you would expect at a hotel/resort. As soon as reception was open, we expressed our disappointment and that we either wanted alternative accomodation or a full refund. The receptionist was helpful as she could be and contacted her manager. Whilst this was going on, we contacted the main numbers on the MacDonald website - here we were told people that we needed to communicate with were not at work and were given email addresses. We emailed these addresses and are still YET to receive a reply. Later that afternoon I received an email from the receptionist confirming that we would receive a full refund within 3 to 5 days and to check out. We did this all following the agreement. Then we drastically had to find alternative accomodation in the local area for our young family, which is not easy. We also had to pay for this accommodation and as it was at short notice it was higher than usual. 5 days later and we still have not received our refund. We have contacted again all the numbers provided (conveniently Plas Talgarth phone line is not active) and have been told that it is not that area of the company, try someone else and we have now exhausted this route. We have also sent countless emails to email addresses provided by the call team and are yet to receive a response. Additionally, we have emailed Talgarth themselves on several occasions and are yet to receive a response. We are greatly frustrated. We are greatly disappointed.
