Kratiras View Luxury Suites

Fira Santorini|0.02km from The Santozeum Museum
There are an increasing number of iconic tourist hotspots around the World that are now suffering from mass adoration; Amsterdam, Venice, etc. Unfortunately Santorini must be near the top of the list. Prepare yourself for wall to wall crowds. But I digress. When you think of Santorini, you see picturesque cliff top views of cruise liners in the Aegean Sea, cute houses, restaurants and bars, cascading up precipitous slopes and magic sunsets. Some hotels and apartments in Santorini think that if they provide this view, and many do, that they can claim to be luxurious. The Kratiras View Luxury Suites fall into this category. They definitely have the luxurious views but that is where luxury ends. We did have one of the cheapest rooms without a private pool. It is either a private pool or no pool. The management seem to think the view will compensate for everything so why bother about the petty details like the door handle is on the table when you arrive, the key to the safe doesn’t work, the hairdryer falls apart, the table lamp doesn’t work, the air conditioning unit is old and barely keeps the day time heat at bay (we hate to think what it was like during the recent 40 degree heatwave.) The view also comes at a price. Between 2pm and 7pm you will need to keep the suite curtains fully closed to block out the heat and glare of the Western Sun because there is no effective shade. The ‘suites’ themselves (really a room) are very small and compact with a double bed pressed against a wall. Small desk and chair, fridge, small table and 2 chairs, although a table and chairs are also an available on the small patio. The two adjacent suites are open to your patio so there is absolutely no privacy in your room. Most suites have very small pools or spas, the middle ones on the upper two floors have neither. So if you want a pool, make sure you request one, but remember that Western sun, you may get boiled rather than cooled. An evening submersion with a glass of wine might work. The bathroom is very cramped with an open shower so a challenge to keep the water inside. Toiletries are provided and the towels are nice, thick and clean. So works but a bit small. So are there any positives other than the majestic views. The management staff are very friendly and obliging, so if you want a kettle and couple of cups, a couple of sun loungers on your patio, to get some of those malfunctioning items fixed, they are very prompt to act. The breakfast on the “terrace with a view” was fine; nice bread and jams, yoghurt and fruit, bacon and egg or an omelette, fruit juice. Although we found the breakfast timing at 9.30 to 11.00 am painfully late. Like most of the hotels and apartments in Santorini, access is a challenge. Cobbled and uneven paths, steps, and mainly uphill. The hotel will take your main luggage to the local bus stop which is a great service. In terms of getting to and from the airport, we recommend the local bus (an air conditioned coach) for EUR 1.6

I surprised my 18 year old niece during March Spring Break with this hotel on Santorini. As we walked up and down the stairs while the bellmen carried our bags, she continued to look behind at me with a look on her face of disbelief. Then when we walked to the top and saw the view, her exact words were, ”Are you kidding me right now? How did you find this place?!” We cannot recommend this hotel enough! 1) The employees were BEYOND WONDERFUL! We literally felt like they became family and their goal was to make sure we felt like we were at home. 2) Location, location, location to everything! 3) THE VIEWS! Literally no reason to leave! In fact, we never wanted to leave! Our room was EXACTLY as the photos online show except better in person. Breakfast in the room or on the patio are both perfect. The bathroom was huge and wonderful, and the hot tub was perfect after a long day of walking the stairs of Santorini! PLEASE look no further than this fabulous hotel for your stay on this island.

Fira
The hotel has a good location, located in the center of Fira, close to the bus station, and all attractions in Fira are within walking distance. The disadvantage is that the hotel room does not see the sea, only the top platform (public area) can overlook the sea, which is different from the description on the Internet. In addition, there are a lot of stairs up and down in the hotel, there is no elevator, and you should be careful when you have large luggage?

The manager at the front desk is very friendly. There are many stairs up and down the stairs. He took the luggage of the two of us. The hotel has a service to help book a taxi. If you have any questions, you can contact us at any time. The room was ready very early, check in goose at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, but we arrived at 10 o'clock in the morning and let us check in directly. The hotel rooms are also very good, each house has a private small swimming pool, and it can also see the sea view, which is a very good experience.

Fira
This property is a wonderful hidden gem located in Fira which overlooks the caldera - views are absolutely beautiful and we have witnessed the famous Santorini sunset right by the outside space of our suite! IT was our last day and it made the day even more special! Suite was spacious and comfortable (even for a group of 4), the outside area and jacuzzi is on the smaller/ narrower side but it did not bother us. The location is just the best. Breakfast was good and you had a good selection! It was delivered to our suite at a time we requested and it was plentiful and delicious. It was nice to get some hot items (like bacon/ eggs/ omelette) Panos was an amazing host, he helped us carry our luggage from our meeting point right down to the suite (which is no easy feat, up and down the steps), he accommodated our early check in since it was possible and communication was so easy. He had also explained all the services they could provide, even thought of the next day and if we needed any airport transfer (which they can happily arrange). Nothing was too much and he just went above and beyond which we appreciated so much. Thank you Panos and to the Modernity Suites team :)

Very affordable price, the peak season is not so comfortable, the airport by bus 2.4 euros to the town, the taxi is 25 euros, the waiter is a Pakistani iron, very enthusiastic about the Chinese, any questions can be directly consulted, breakfast is also farmer style Staying in the summer for a night and watching the sunset blowing the sea breeze is still very pleasant.
