Bay Horse Hotel

Brilliant town centre hotel, the rooms were so clean, the staff were lovely and really helpful, the pub downstairs had a brilliant a**osphere with a vast selection of drinks and a devent price. 100% recommended!!!!!

For the second night in a row I left as the barmaid considered everything in the world much more important than actually doing her job and SERVING. A quick piece of advice to the Landlady Jade - hire decent staff or more angry locals will be spending their hard earned elsewhere like I will be in future. NOT good enough.

Comfortable bed, room clean and looked recently decorated. Friendly staff. The only downsides were: the rooms are accessed via steep outside metal steps, not ideal in wet weather; some of the other guests were very noisy both on their way out and on their way in late in the evening; the shower-room blind didn't close, making me feel somewhat exposed, opaque glass being insufficient when the light is on; no breakfast offered. However, as someone else has said, the Abbey Cafe dead opposite was very good. Another grouse, which I have with most hotels, is that the towels stink! Why on earth either smelly washing powder or smelly fabric conditioner is invariably used is a mytery to me.

Best bar maid ever.polite.funny.knowledgable.quirky place.down to earth.dont like tills high up making it awkward for staff.dont like customers bringing own food and drink in.would recommended to others.will be back.

Stayed in room 6 … lovely warm and nicely decorated room.. immaculately cleaned and had lots of little extras ( full sized shampoo and body wash in bathroom, loads of tea/coffee, milk and water. The bed was soooo comfortable with quality feather duvet and pillows. I can honestly say that the night was very quiet.. admittedly it wasn’t a Friday or Saturday night… but surely people who book a room above the busiest and liveliest pub in Selby on those nights must expect some noise??? In fact we didn’t realise we had guests in the neighbouring rooms until they checked out in the morning. The Bay Horse staff are lovely and our key was ready to collect from behind the bar when we arrived.. we checked out before the pub opened so we simply posted the key through the door. Overall… for the price it was a great place for singles/couples for a quick 1 or 2 nights kip.

Partner and myself booked here last week for three days. We were delighted with our room which isn’t huge but cosy compact. Lovely clean bathroom, plenty of hanging space and large TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Bed was so comfy I didn’t want to get up and a huge plus was an outside terrace with table, seating and umbrellas. We were in a room above a pub with music which goes quiet after 11 so we did hear music up until then, but to be honest we don’t go away to stay in a room all night and we were returning after it had gone quiet. We Another plus is that there is a side entrance for guests to get to their rooms, thus avoiding walking through the bar. Great stay and we’ll definitely be staying again.
