I’ve lived and traveled around China for 6 years and have been to Shanghai countless times trying many different types and levels of hotels. The Fairmont Peace Hotel is by the far the best I’ve ever experienced in Shanghai thus far. The service at check in was fantastic and friendly and so accommodating. The lady spoke perfect English which helped me a lot and went so far as to walk us to our room and explain some key points. All staff are wonderful and smiling and so willing to help. The room was clean and quiet and had all the modern finishings to make life easy while blended into a beautiful and traditional style. The Jazz Band is a must see and the small museum is lovely. The Phoenix Restaurant produced some delicious food. Overall I cannot stop singing the praises of this hotel. Also location is fantastic for tourists. Right on the Bund and close to subway stations and taxi pickup points if needed.

We had an enjoyable stay at this Shanghai hotel. Centrally located on the bustling Nanjing East Road pedestrian walkway, it’s a breeze to find. Housed in an established building, the vibe feels solid. Staff were generally helpful, and ready to assist. Our room was clean, functional, though a tad warm—possibly due to some override rules. Everything worked as expected for a reliable city stay. Perfect for travelers wanting a convenient base in Shanghai’s heart. Downside was there were scavengers approaching upon our arrival by taxi at hotel lobby. Staff didn't stop them. Would recommend for a generally no-fuss, well-placed hotel experience.

My family stayed at this hotel for our Shanghai city tour. The hotel check-in was done by the staff member, ‘William’, and he accepted my daughter’s request to stay in a high-rise room, which was very nice. The location of this hotel is also very good, so I would like to visit again on my next trip to Shanghai.

We had a pleasant stay at the Yitel hotel. Very convenient to the subway & all major tourist attractions. Front desk staff very helpful & I like that the hotel didn’t stink of smoke like the other ones we’ve stayed in during our trip to China. We would definitely stay here again if we came back to Shanghai.

Overall, the hotel was not bad, though the rooms were a bit old. The bed was very hard and didn’t meet the quality of a five-star hotel. The pillows were also very flat, making it really uncomfortable to sleep without proper head support. The hotel’s location was great—very convenient for traveling to all the tourist attractions. It’s right near Metro Line 1, Exit 5. However, if you’re carrying big luggage, be aware that Exit 5 has no escalator or lift! You’ll need to carry your bags up the stairs, which are quite high. You can take another exit with easier access, but it will require a longer walk.

It was useful that trip tells you the size of the beds so that you can determine whether they’re big enough to share with children. Lots of the hotels say that children can stay free, but the beds are no way big enough. The shanghai garden hotel has 2x 1.2m single beds in a standard room, which is considered a small double in the uk, and was comfortable for my family of 4. We visited the swimming pool during our stay and it was very refreshing. Be advised it is mandatory to wear swim cap. Which will have to be purchased if you don’t have it. Breakfast was vast, lots of choice of Chinese, Japanese and western style. We particularly enjoyed 混沌汤, 点心。 Disappointed with the 包子, 生煎包 - which didn’t really have much filling, flavour, and 油条 - which wasn’t fluffy felt it was cooked from frozen. Particularly annoying when we were asked to pay the high full price for our small 12 year old and half price for 7 year old, rather than by height which is what other hotels do. They hardly ate anything! Consider being more family friendly!

Best hotel I ever stay. Location near yu yuan metro exit 7 just walk 2 mins from hotel. Also near the bund walking distance 3 mins . Hotel also beside yu yuan tourist area. Hotel bath room is separate with toilet . Big tv provide . Nice view baconcy provide . Night view is beautiful. Hotel staff and bell boy very courteous, helpful. Excellent work. We booked a Parent-Kid Suite, which was advertised to accommodate four adults, but throughout our stay, only three towels were provided. Additionally, the only bathroom is located right next to one of the bedrooms, with no door and a fully transparent shower space. This setup is extremely awkward and inconvenient unless you’re traveling with very young children. The noise from the bathroom also inevitably disturbs whoever is sleeping in that bedroom. Another disappointment was the check-in process. We arrived at the hotel around 4 PM, but the front desk informed us that our room was still not ready due to a late check-out from the previous guests. This was frustrating, especially after a long flight, as we had expected to check in on time and freshen up immediately. That said, aside from the strange room layout, the hotel does have its positives. The location is great, with a partial view of The Bund, and the price is reasonable for this area. Overall, while the hotel has potential, the room design and service need improvement.

The location is excellent, situated right on Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, close to East Nanjing Rd. subway station, and next to Miniso Land. It's also within walking distance to The Bund. The room was clean, and housekeeping kept it tidy with no trace of cigarette smell. The staff provided good service, were able to communicate in English, and allowed a late check-out upon request.
